WrathOfHan
Fantastic increase for La La Land. I was expecting around 11M. This definitely puts 150M back on the table. Resident Evil held better than expected based off those Friday numbers. lol xXx. Stay with the family, Vin.
WrathOfHan
I'm really thinking Lion is going to have a gigantic increase next weekend. If not for the Super Bowl, 10M honestly would've been on the table.
Jandrew
That's an insane drop for Split. Wow. That's rare for this era. And Hidden Figures is showing true staying power as well. Too bad for XXX.

WrathOfHan
Predictions for next weekend: Split: 17.5M Rings: 12M Hidden Figures: 11M A Dog's Purpose: 10M La La Land: 9M Lion: 8M Resident Evil: 5.6M The Space Between Us: 5M Sing: 4.3M xXx: 4.1M The Space Between Us has bomb written all over it. I wouldn't be surprised if it does only 3-4M because of how low buzz is.
kayumanggi
An original musical topping $100M? Only in LA LA LAND. Lionsgate's Best Picture frontrunner did just that w/ $12M this weekend, $106M total.— Exhibitor Relations (@ERCboxoffice) January 29, 2017
Jake Gittes
Do we know how wide Lion is expanding next weekend? 1,500+? 2,000+? I think Split is gonna drop close to 40% and HF and LLL both over 30% (similar to Juno and Slumdog back in the day). Superbowl is a tough weekend.

PTA is bound to drop with the combined effect of Superbowl and sudden huge expansion. I'd be cautious expecting anything over a 5m weekend. Not that there would be anything to worry about because it'll still be heading for a 40m finish.

It's had alot more marketing than Blair Witch, to be fair. Also, among kids of my generation (21-28), The Ring was THE horror movie for us when we were kids, moreso than the Blair Witch. I think it's heading towards around 15m, so not great or anything but bigger than post are predicting. I feel more buzz than Blair Witch, FWIW.
