They made a couple of entertaining films, but I don't get this worship for them as great cinematic geniuses either.

I actually think they might be a good fit for GOTG 3 (their loopy and offbeat humor seems a good match) but I have seem them proposed here for big budget movies which nothing in their resume indicates they could handle.

That's a major problem;Make one of two entertaing films,and you are proclaimed a "visionary director"/

Agreed. Gunn was fired for his stupid twitter remakrs, Snyder was kicked upstairs because Warners felt his version of the DCU was severely underperforming.

I don't see much similarity, there.

And Gunn was removed from working for Disney altogether. Snyder is still employed by Warners, but has been stripped of almost all his power as far as the DCU,all he has left is pretty much a "Courtesy" producer credit.

Probably the best thing that could happen for the movie at this point.  I just wish my gut didn't keep telling me, "You should be so lucky."

He went quite above budget, they liked a lot of it and extended him a lot of money to fix it.

 

There is a difference between what Scott is talking (at least in the part cited by indiewire) about and how good the movie ultimately end up to be.
