a2k
BATB and BB will be in tight race for #1. I give the edge to BATB as BB is coming off OW and facing Smurfs in it's 2nd weekend, as opposed to BATB which will be in the 4th weekend and has stabilized more than BB. If Smurfs exceeds expectations, all 3 could be targeting 24-26 weekend.
JennaJ
So how much total is BatB looking at right now?
Dementeleus
Casting aside, and these other areas we've already talked about to a good degree, there's some really good and interesting stuff in that THR round table about how clueless the producers and director were about cultural Japanese norms, and how tone deaf a few scenes were because they didn't have a deep grasp of Japanese culture. I'm a goofy American, I didn't pick up on those specifics either. But it's another example of how completely off-base so much of the production was.

There's a need to have diversity behind as well as in front of the camera.
miketheavenger
IMO Ghost in the Shell's underperformance was a mix of the whitewashing controversy hurting it, but also it just not looking all that appealing to the GA. I haven't seen the film, so I can't comment on its quality, but barely anything in the ad push made me excited to see it.

drdungbeetle
Honestly, why bother. Ghost is performing horribly anyway and won't be a guideline in regards to how future movies are made. It's like complaining that Monster Trucks sucked at this point.

Outrageous!
Thanks to Rangercrew for mentioning this: $969,664 for Power Rangers on Monday, a 76% drop. I'm going to guess that is continuing the trend of the daily box office numbers not going well for the Rangers.
