Kong could be at ~161 after the weekend (-50% for 2.8 Fri-Sun + 1.5 Tue-Thu)

It will at least get to high 160s.

It has done better than expectations though and has a good shot at crossing 170.

It's amazing that Disney frequently puts out films that earn $1 billion. Incredible. It makes me wonder whether Avengers (2012) became the first film in the MCU to reach this milestone due to the power of Disney as a brand or due to the quality of its franchisal predecessors. What say y'all?

it was once in a lifetime build up. I don't think that predecessors were high quality. IM was but the rest was alright. But they pulled off the shared universe, hyped the team up for years and people showed up to see the novelty which was also a quality novelty. IM/Tony did become their Billion Dollar Man as all movies with him that followed crossed the mark (no Tony no billion).
