Below are 8 questions each pitting Alien covenant vs a film set (to some degree within the same universe, although I admit one example is stretching this a lot)

Every Correct answer - 10,000 points

If you answer at least 3 questions and score 100% correct answers, increase your score by 50%

 

1st incorrect answer - minus 4000 points 

2nd incorrect answer - minus 8000 points (cumulative so on top of the 4000 lost for the first incorrect answer)

3rd incorrect answer - minus 12000 points 

4th incorrect answer - minus 16000 points

5th incorrect answer - minus 20000 points

Get all 8 incorrect - score 225,000 points  (but you have to be nuts to try this)

That's normally how these operate.

If you answer 6 and get 4 correct and 2 incorrect your score will be 4 x 10,000 - 4000 - 8000 = 28,000 points

 

So i you answer all 8, you need to get 5 wrong to start losing points. (4 wrong will score you exactly 0). 

 

Obviously 8 wrong is where the big money is at, and I remember that classic Independence day question of yore, where we were all so bad at the questions, half of us ended up qualifying for the 'everything wrong' bonus by accident.

oh, i see!  its only for all 8 incorrect because that is a bigger gamble.  One may think, "hey, i think I got this and Im going 8/8" and then you get 7/8 or something.  so you win well.   just like anyone else.  But to go into the dark territory and permeate the gates of hell, you reap the ultimate reward.  thanks for the clarification!

Yep you got it. Going for the big prize results in pretty big losses if you just miss out. Going for all correct will still give you a nice payload if you stumble to 6 or 7 correct answers.
