The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Really thinking more and more it's an overflow error somewhere.  Just seems logical as a culprit from what little I know/remember about computer programming

Just a wonder/miracle it didn't break for any of the other 200m OWs previously.

Endgame must still be running so presale heavy that its fandango sales are greater than BP and Infinity War's OW, which is pretty crazy.

That and the rise in purchasing tickets at places in Fandango and Atom at the spur of the moment in general.  It's common knowledge here that pre-sales/online sales have gone up each and every year.

If my supposition is right, that is.  If it is, we should expect to see more Pulse breakdowns in the future as grabbing tickets via joints like Fandango grows in popularity

Wow, PS start, OW, and now 2nd wknd too. This movie’s a menace.

I think it's WB this time, man.   @Minnale101 was too close to cracking the code with their Pulse analysis regarding Pika Pika and WB had Fandango kneecap Pulse before they could bust it all wide open. :sadno:

We all had to start tracking movies someway. And regardless of how much experience some of us have, we get movies wrong regardless of how "confident" we are.

I mean I get that. But a a couple of people are sticking their fingers in their ears at any mention of data that doesn’t go with their wishes. To track you’ve gotta Consider everything.

was four minutes worth of sets of sales before it hit the 1000 cap.  Maaaaybe 4 minues and a few seconds.  It started displaying tickets sometime in the 1:01 PDT minute, briefly made it a few sets into 1:05 before folding back.

That's still 'only' 3,750 sets of tickets for the entire 15 minute period (and yes I remember that Pulse only displays a subset of all Fandango sales), presuming an even distribution, so who the frell knows what is going on over in Pulselandia.

Maybe it's the total set of sales that Pulse draws from that is causing the trouble and not the subset Pulse actually displays.

This happens all the time, especially with fan driven movies.

I mean I get that as well, but if we are talking about the same user, they do acknowledge that it's their first time doing this and they've used different movies to compare. They're just working on their own methods and even if they fuck this movie up in terms of tracking, it's something that they can learn from and fine tune their skills for future films.....which is something we all did. I mean thats at least my hope for them as a user.

*Now if youre talking about a different user who literally mentions the same site over and over again to try and force a narrative I see what you're saying.

How many tickets should we be expecting in that time period?

The first user you’re tslking about I have no issue with (although my comment This thread makes it seem so. I just can’t post in the other one bc I threw a bit of a tantrum) . The other one....

Beats the heck out of me.  I was more seeing if I could find an easy to identify overflow culprit.  Like, more than 1000 sets in under a minute would be an obvious red flag. 1000 sets within five minutes?  Not so much.

Might just be the overall sets of tickets Pulse is drawing from.

Or it might just be a creaky five and a half year old program/set of APIs that is desperately in need of updating on the back end (Pulse looks to have been established way back in Oct 2013).
