Rorschach
@CayomMagazine Lager Pictures Classics, Francis Ford Coppola's production company American Zoetrope, and Guillermo del Toro's Double Dare You Productions are all teaming up for a new project: Abomination, a new adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic gothic horror novel Frankenstein which will be helmed by Iranian-Danish director Ali Abbasi (Border, Shelley). The film is set to tell the story almost exclusively from the Creature's perspective, focusing on the being's time hidden away in exile in peasant family's cottage and as well as the Creature's growth into becoming an articulate and intelligent being. Studio heads Christopher and Maria Lager are teaming up with Guillermo Del Toro, Francis Ford Coppola, and Frank Darabont to help produce the film while Darabont will assist Abbasi in fine-tuning the original script. Coppola and Darabont both previously worked on another iteration of Shelley's work: the 1994 film directed by Kenneth Branagh, starring Robert De Niro as the Creature and Branagh himself playing Victor Frankenstein. The film was a financial/critical flop and was detested by both Coppola and Darabont, with the latter calling it at the time "the best script I ever wrote and the worst film I've ever seen." Both, however, have read and are extremely enthusiastic about Abbasi's take on the story and have offered their help in producing the film. "I couldn't be more enthused about this project," Darabont told the Magazine. "What Abbasi has brought to table is nothing short of astonishing and feels so faithful to Shelley's work in such an intimate, thought-provoking way. I for one cannot wait to see his vision be realized." In regards to casting, Academy Award winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Biutiful) has been cast in the role of the Creature. Other cast members include: -Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, The Odyssey Trilogy) as De Lacey, a blind old man taken care of by his son Felix and daughter Agatha, whose cottage the creature takes residence in. -Lily James (Downton Abbey, Pillars of Eternity: Never Far from the Queen) as Agatha, De Lacey's optimistic daughter who acts as the supportive pillar for the family amidst their financial difficulties. -Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Midsommar) as Felix, De Lacey's arrogant and defiant son who acts as the breadwinner for the family. -Golshifteh Farahani as Safie (Paterson, The Prince of Egypt), a Turkish-Iranian woman in exile whom the De Lacey's welcome into their home and starts and Tom Hiddleston (the Thor trilogy, The Night Manager, Crimson Peak) as Victor Frankenstein, the obsessive, disillusioned scientist who gives the creature life. Speaking on the Frankenstein's depiction in the film, Hiddleston has stated that the film's take of the character will be in a less than sympathetic light with a more antagonistic role in the Creature's story. Abomination will hit theaters in the Fall of Y8. Edited November 25, 2019 by Rorschach 1

cookie
@CayomMagazine Cookie Pictures has outlined their "three a year" strategy for film production going forward i.e. the studio will focus on releasing only three films per studio year at maximum going forward, saying the years of having the ambition of becoming a major studio distributor are behind them. The studio says the lone exception to this strategy will be Year 8, where the studio is hoping to release four films. "If so much wasn't going to get made, it's better to then focus on quality over quantity," a studio representative spoke of the new strategy. "By making at least one film per year a new IP, we could hopefully expand CAYOM's portfolio of original stories as well." The studio plans until Y9 have been updated to reflect this strategy:

4815162342
@cayommagazine @numeratorpictures Numerator Pictures confirms today that it will be splitting Red Dead Redemption into 2 movies. "After conversations with Taylor Sheridan we realized that the story we wanted to tell would be very hard to comfortably fit into a single film." The two movies will be filmed concurrently and will be released about seven months apart. Red Dead Redemption Vol. 1 will release September Year 8, and Vol. 2 will release in March Year 9. To fit with the movie split and release schedule changes, the studio's planned revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend, Nottingham, is being pushed back to year 10.
