Also it's being distributed by Focus Features, they're not known for films like this.

That has nothing to do with anything. 99 percent of the GA doesn't know who they are much less what kind of films they are known for.

Not unlike SMH. 62% and then 50%.

Hopefully it will hold better from here on end ..since nothing major is in store pretty much till year end.

SMH is beginning to show some pretty legs now.

Girls Trip is doing excellent numbers. I didn't know whether we'd see a hundred million grossing comedy this summer.

Girls Trip will give us a 100M grossing comedy, Wonder Woman will give us a 400M grosser for summer and DM3 will get us a 1B WW grosser for summer. All 3 looked like stretch goals a month ago, DM3 has the hardest road but it will end up close enough that Universal will keep it in theaters long enough to push it over.

If The Hitman's Bodyguard ends up having good reviews and legs, it might be the second.

I think The Hitman's Bodyguard is going to be another Ryan Reynolds disappointment like Life was. I seem to be one of the few that thinks that.

I don't think it'll do Life numbers, I think the lack of action films until Kingsman could help it and it's apparently decent.

Can one of you animation nerds rank the animation studios based on box office clout?

1) Pixar

2) Illumination

3) Almost everyone else

4) Sony Pictures Animation

I'd say Walt Disney Animation Studios are on par with Pixar.

Walt Disney Animation studios coasts on the general Disney brand name. Nothing wrong with that.

Pixar

Sony (Yeah I know Emoji and Smurfs are crap. But Surfs Up, Cloudy and a few Sony-Aaardmans were AWESOME IMO. If not for Emoji/Smurfs would put them above Pixar.)

Dreamworks

Illumination

Considering only a decade ago, the studio was basically on its knees, they made a huge comeback in the last 7 years.

You think Sony Animation has more BO clout than Illumination or even Dreamworks?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Sony Animation doesn't even have a $200 million domestically movie even with inflation.
