4815162342
I don't see why Impact can't recast TNG's original cast as a reboot. He could do that, but it worked with the Abrams Trek because it went to the beginning of the Kirk era with an alternate timeline. I don't think a straight-up reboot of TNG would work as well, but we'll see. Edited November 12, 2011 by 4815162342
DerekVl
haha if he wants to use original cast, maybe he can, it just wouldn't turn out very well? Those trekkies are very hard to please!

Hunch
I am acquiring the rights to The Silmarillion and anything set in Numenor. I have to finish reading the book, but so far I really want to adapt it.
4815162342
The Silmarillion is unadaptable into a normal film format. You have hundreds and hundreds of years of history essentially summarized in compressed form. The only possible option is to base a film around a specific isolated segment (such as the Beren/Luthien saga, the tragedy of Turin, etc). But that would require a lot of backstory explanation in the exposition part of the film. Even then you'd have to invent a lot of character stuff since most is just summary and general description (and would you really want to create stuff to supplant Tolkien's writing?)If I thought The Silmarillion was a viable property I'd have tried to gobble it up looooooooooooooooooong ago. Hunch
The rights have been acquired and you will have to deal. Unless I realize it's un-adaptable or I lose interest
4815162342
Well then, prepare for critical evisceration if you bungle it.
Community Manager Water Bottle Posted November 18, 2011 Community Manager Share Posted November 18, 2011 He could make a faux documentary that "covers" the history of Middle Earth, or something like it.I'm sure a creative film director could make it work. riczhang
Are we still keeping track of Franchise rights?
Blankments
Do we still use this? Because I kind of have five movies this year being released I'd technically need rights to, and I just noticed this thread. XDIf we do, then I posthumously claim rights to Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Drowsy Chaperone, Freaks, and The Underland Chronicles.
Killimano3
i'm pretty sure the word posthumously only applies if your dead

SilverShark
If anyone wants the rights for StarCraft you can have it. I´m almost begging for the rights to WarCraft. I have a great idea for a trilogy. Or maybe two?
Killimano3
who's the one that released the Warcraft movie then?
riczhang
Suppose if everyone's claiming trilogies, I will as well. I claim the rights to CHERUB, The Divergent Trilogy, and Artemis Fowl.
