So it seems Israelis want their hoo-ra patriotism movie too.

Looks competent, I guess, but nuance doesn't seem to be much of a goal here.

Focus Features has been very smart with this film, placing it in front of many popular awards season films. This'll do better than it would've done without the advertising, that's for sure.

Gonna be a rough month for Focus between this and Thoroughbreds making peanuts back to back (the latter got good reviews at Sundance last year but is being dumped with virtually no marketing).

I’ve seen a little bit of marketing for Thoroughbreds actually.  Got a trailer for it before I Tonya and seen a few ads around the internet and on YouTube videos.  I’ve seen less Tomb Raider ads than I have for Thoroughbreds.

It's a damn shame how Rosamund Pike's career is in pretty much the same place it was pre-Gone Girl.

I agree, she is a very good actress. but she seems to be a poor judge of scripts.

Or she isn't offered really good ones to begin with.

You have a basic problem doing a suspense film based on real events where everybody knows how it will end.

It can be done...the original 1973 "Day Of The Jackle" shows that...but it is not easy to do. They apparently did not do it here.

After the reviews she got for Gone Girl, I am betting some good scripts came her way, she just made poor choices.

A lot of people were predicting big things for her after she stole "Die Another Day" ,but a string of bad films followed that on also.

Thing is, it's a pattern for her. SOmetimes an artist's problem are mainly of their own making.

Looking through her recent films, I'm not seeing much of a pattern other than they haven't made much money. Sure, some are poorly received but there's also several in there with decent reception (A United Kingdom, Hostiles, Beirut) . It just so happens that none of them made much money but I don't really see why that's her fault.
