I know these MPAA stats. They include movie industry AND TV industry, however. And, sure, if the movie industry in China ever gets really big and per capita admissions are on the same level as in Europe at least, it will create millions of jobs. If, if, if...

And just importing Hollywood flicks doesn't create jobs. Just for a few movie theatres.I guess your government will at least secure a 50/50 quota in the future. (Regarding gross/ticket sales.)

We should stop to import Chinese goods, or ask the Chinese to produce them in Europe. ;) Every country should do for the world market what it is really good in. Let the Americans entertain us, let the Germans builld cars. If people want to ski they can come to us. If they need an Energy drink... Edited by Rudolf

20th Century Fox International is reporting that Titanic 3D opened to an estimated $11.6 million from 2,400 3D screens and 66 IMAX 3D screens in China on Tuesday. That's Fox's best opening day ever in China, and it's more than double Titanic 3D's weekend debut in any of its other markets.

In 1998, Titanic earned around $44 million in China. Since then, the Chinese market has expanded significantly, and Titanic 3D should easily outgross the original release within the week.

Since opening on Wednesday, Titanic 3D has already made at least $53 million overseas, and that doesn't even count any of its other markets on Tuesday. That brings the re-release's worldwide gross to over $80 million, and it brings Titanic's total gross across all releases to $1.924 billion.

I really hope that North America can beat out China for this. As greatful as I am for the Chinese to see what is one of the greatest movies ever, Americans (and Canadians too) need to get on the ball here. This movie needs to be seen... by everybody!

Buddy, are you kidding? It's not going to make in North America what Titanic will make in China in it's first week.
