DeeCee
There will be no anti-trust issues. The Disney shares offered in the deal flow straight through to each Fox shareholder. The Murdochs will end with about 5% of Disney.

We are discussing creativity. Logan was creative, it was different, it made a lot of money and it was praised for being unlike many of the CBMs we had seen the past couple years. Disney can make a good Wolverine movie and make a ton of money. That's not in question. Would they have made Logan though? Probably not. That's the entire point when we are discussing "risks". Alot of Logan's appeal and novelty came from it's R rating and adult elements, ditto for Deadpool. 1) How much of Fox's PG-13 superhero stuff is just as groundbreaking and fresh as their recent R rated stuff. Fox has been making trashy CBM far worse than MCU for almost two decades. They make two edgelord R rated movies and suddenly we forget about how many times they completely wasted opportunities. Even Deadpool was a fluke they had to be tricked into with leaked footage. 2) Disney/Marvel has shown they can put out quality R rated material with Punisher and Daredevil. Plus they said they won't change Deadpool's rating or approach so they can easily emulate the edgelord R rated stuff but without the horrendous track record for pg-13 superhero movies.

Movie quality? No. They’ll care though if the money trucks come in lighter than they’re supposed to be.

That's the thing. I doubt MCU, SW, Pixar, WDAS and live action classic genre would be pouring in billions without a certain level of quality. Look at DCEU. Nothing is guaranteed. People assume Disney's success was just a matter of acquiring valuable IP's. That is false.

DeeCee
Netflix’s valuation has been far to high for an existing media company for many years now.
Hades
http://variety.com/2017/biz/news/disney-netflix-acquisition-rumors-1201961964/ Was just a rumor, but I would not put it pass them. Why make successful brands, when you can just buy them and take all the praise.

I am pretty sure he has tried to buy Netflix, but thankfully they gave him the middle finger. Nothing special? Which prequel made over 2 billion WW? How many non-MCU Marvel movies have made over 850 m? Why can't other studios outgross Disney even though Disney releases only a dozen or so major films? Making 3 billion DOM in a single year while releasing fewer films is "nothing special"? The truth is most people enjoy nostalgia and geek culture. Hollywood finally embraced it after decades of denial. Bob Iger saw the writing on the wall and now Disney blockbusters mostly run shit from March to December. Other studios and franchises are struggling to keep up. They can't invent megafranchises because that lightning in a bottle cannot be mass produced no matter how much the edgelords claim franchises are simple and basic. If it's so simple why do the Star Wars and Avatars emerge from nowhere only once or twice a decade?
