WrathOfHan
To my knowledge Cheney hasn't test screened 26 minutes ago, CoolioD1 said: that's exactly the case with Mahershala Ali/Mark Rylance/Allison Janney's winning performances though. If Supporting Actor is tough this year, that may go against him lol the whole pointing about Supporting Actor/Actress is that it's "supporting." There's plenty of awards in both categories that have gone to roles that are essentially for particular chunks of a movie and not the whole thing.

WrathOfHan
Peterloo has screened for French distributors to qualify at Cannes, but nobody wants to pick it up That doesn't bode well.

Eric Prime
The Favourite got slotted into the Thanksgiving slot, so I guess we now know what Searchlight's top priority will be.

And Focus also just made On the Basis of Sex their November release, which is when their #1 pushes have typically been released. I think if the movie and Felicity Jones get the raves, she's very much in (hell, maybe even the frontrunner...it's a really fantastic role for any actress to play). Although maybe the Foreign Language and Screenplay branches of the Academy are more receptive to Lanthimos' films.

Now this is just my opinion, but I don't think, no matter how traditional the storytelling is, that a film about a janitor falling in love with a fish man is truly the safest movie in the world... something like Victoria & Abdul or The Post would probably be much safer. CoolioD1
there used to always be an idea that the academy at large didn't like wes anderson's style in a similar "oh only the writer's branch like his stuff" until grand budapest.

I don't think it's coming out this year.
