I think Hollywood exec's heads would collectively explode if BP set the OW record. All these years spent thinking a certain ethnicity can't carry a big budget tentpole on their own to profitability, and then the first one comes along and shatters box office records.

The most recent Thor Ragnarok did 14.5m Thurs previews so if Black Panther does 23m thats 58% bigger that translates to 194m. However then  you look at the breakdown of Deep Wangs pre-sales the numbers show this is much less front loaded than the average MCU flick

Wow this is really headed for around a 200 OW? Never expected it to go that high but there's been nothing since TLJ so it could be IT on Marvel steroids.

Showings were mostly full earlier here when I saw it. Can definitely see people wanting to rewatch it and it should have great WOM. Felt like summer which makes sense, since that's where it was originally planned before Homecoming pushed it back right?

Still doubt it but anythings possible! This should get a lot of people to go to the theater who don't go for other Marvel fare due to all the press surrounding it. Infinity War still feels like it's going to be up there with TLJ numbers (if not higher) and the marketing for it is probably going to be insane.

With Thor Ragnarok projection that puts Black Panther up for 211m for the 3-day weekend!
