Yikes what ?? Its on 263 million now WW from a 94 million budget

Not the kind of gross you want for a franchise reboot / starter. Will it make a profit in the end, sure. But not enough.

Japan and China stopped Jumanji from reaching 1B but it's still a helluva boxoffice, obliterated all MCU released last year and Wonder Woman, for example.

RPO is doing OS and especially in China what PRU was supposed to do but didn't.

Tomb Raider won't lose money but like Pacific Rim it won't become a franchise either. If they make a second one it will predictably fall from the first and no more sequels will happen.

There will be another one. Book it. They have set it up for it to happen. They found a new Lara Croft. People like her. The 2nd can be cheaper. The 2nd one can increase too if released in the summer time

The worst case scenario for AQP next weekend is probably a 36% drop like Split (32M). If it goes nuts on Friday, 40M isn't out of reach.

We shall see. I think 30m is a good target and that would already take some pretty dang good increases / holds relative to the time of year and the genre. It needs a Thursday higher than 3.5m in order to secure a 30m+ Weekend.

Yes it will make enough. There will be more. They are not gonna scrap the Tomb Raider franchise also best reviewed video game movie. will make more than the first and close to 3x budget.

So they said about Pacific Rim... sure it had a 2nd one....... and we all know how it turned out. Also the 2nd film is rarely cheaper because of raises for the cast / crew.

These are some pretty compelling and convincing arguments i must say. Well, WB have no choice now, have they? I mean, Tomb Raider 2 will make enough. And there will be more.

There might be and it will do just as well as Pacific Rim Uprising killing the franchise after only it's second film. The word of mouth is not there for Tomb Raider, it just isn't there.

This film will be an 85m+ hit.... crazy. It is rare for my social network to go crazy about a film, so I understand why this one broke out so big but dadgum it's huge by Christian Film standards.
