It's held great in Spain. Will certainly become the top grossing SH movie of all time in our market (Incredibly, Raimi's first Spider-Man *still* holds that record with $23m), and has a very good chance of becoming the first SH movie to win the year. Spanish market heavily favors animation and family-skewing blockbusters, so it's quite an achievement.

hmmm economic situation is better now too? than it was several years ago? so maybe more people go to the movies?

Remenber avatar was +100m in spain i mean WTF lol....

2 billion is still very much possible after the os drop, and I am not counting Russia. Less than 50% drop after a huge ow , overseas , for a comic book film (or any fan driven film) is really good. Still doesn’t offset the u.s disappointment but it’s something, I guess.

Latin Lover's second week was the release of Guardians 2. Mother's Day was its third weekend.

That's not what I'm getting at. This is how Latin Lover's first ten days went:

Saturday: +10.4% (Overboard only increased 5.6%)

Sunday: -5.7% (Lionsgate is estimating the same drop for Overboard)

Monday: -79.1%

Tuesday: +29.6%

Wednesday: -40.5%

Thursday: -16.5%

Friday: +144.4%

Saturday: +25.5%

Sunday: +27.1%

Guardians had no effect on its second Friday. The Thursday drop for Overboard probably won't be that bad. If it has an 8% drop on Thursday and 60% increase on Saturday, that would result in an 8.2M weekend/45% drop.

Very good overseas hold. Much more impressive compared to domestic which is more or less average for a superhero movie.

yeah from 257m opening  with no vacation hollyday is outstanding lol when the numbers are very very very high you can t do a -40% drop in 2nd week end..

And i bet my life on it if TFA had opened in end of april 2015 it would have done maybe 270 275 million opening but nowhere it would have droped in the low 40 44% in the 2nd frame impossible even for this kind of event...... so yeah the law of big numbers....

Yeah, attendances have slowly been picking up over the past 2-3 years. We are now back at pre-recession levels of tickets sold.

Avatar was a phenom over here. It made €77m and our second top grossing movie of all time (a local comedy) lies at €55m.
