Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 | July 12 2023 | 99% on Rotten Tomatoes! | 290M budget so far, Cruise holding Paramount hostage for more money

Recommended Posts

Loving that "stay out of my way" delivery lol I guess that's how Cruise looks at Paramount execs now. His beef is with them really. Cruise is a film buff, goes to see most blockbusters in theatres, so I'm sure he will appreciate Op when it's out. We'll see how it all pans out number wise, but I bet MI will make some of the money back in IMAX in August,

hmmm. he ranked the movies

I don't agree with his other rankings so I don't really care about his MI7 placement.

Once again, I thought people couldn't make any of these types of posts until the review embargo???

In no way are 5 and 6 better than 1, 3 and 4.  5 and 6 are fantastic theatrical experiences. 1, 3, and 4 were that plus great rewatchable movies.

Nah, 3's boring. It has by far the least identity, and PSH's villain doesn't save it.

6 - great action movie.

5- very good

3 -its fun and Hoffman is the best villain in the franchise.

4 -didnt like it as much as 3 but still good .

1- solid first entry and it's a tone of fun.

2- the only bad one. Cringe and don't like visual style and the way it's shot but it's watchable.

MI is one of the few franchises that has overall been improving the further it goes.

First two movies are solid 90s movies and by two something was off . 3 was the transition phase and imo it's the movie that saved the franchise .

I really enjoyed MI6 but Rogue Nation is my least favorite only ahead of 2. 3 is underrated as hell. I just really dug the thriller vibe of it. 4 has amazing stunt work (as most/all of them do), and 1 is just a classic. I do think 1 has too much of a messy plot, but it's still very solid.

I also think Mission Impossible movies have so much similar quality that most lists/rankings I see are not the same as someone else's. It's like the Harry Potter movies. Someone's favorite or 2nd favorite might be someone's least favorite or 2nd least favorite.

This video's about Tenet but it also features the M:I series, which the author is a big fan of. In some ways he's stating the obvious but I think the last 3 M:I films (and I'm assuming the next two) really worked is because they finally understood what the IP's core appeal was:

1 is my favourite but I cannot deny that...it takes many viewings to understand it fully (I finally got it all start to finish on this most recent rewatch). Will update my series ranking once I finish rewatching 2-6.
