Heretic
Alien pre-sales for IMAX are very strong. In 2D not as much. It has some 8:30pm shows this evening at Vue cinemas which look pretty full. Think we can expect quite a big opening. Avatree
I think Guardians should be good for $50M. I'm not convinced about how strong Alien is going to open.

I think it'll match or be slightly smaller than Prometheus The 8.30pm screenings were part of the super ticket they did with Alien Day Edited May 11, 2017 by Jonwo

Heretic
It must be doing much better in London then because pre-sales are quite good here.
SchumacherFTW
IMAX is looking busy tomorrow for the 8pm show in Stevenage tomorrow, but the 17:10 show I'm at is considerably quieter.

It's possible Alien is a title that does better at night than during the day. It's 15 rated which does reduce its audience a little but I think it'll have good walk ins. One thing I remember with Prometheus was that presales were VERY IMAX orientated for that, I think it even broke records at the BFI (which were promptly crushed). Heretic
BFI IMAX is very busy for Alien. It's definitely acting like Prometheus with regards to the fact that pre-sales are heavily orientated towards IMAX and Xtreme screens/super 2D screens. Because of the ER differences from three years ago in dollars it will slightly decrease, stay flat, or slightly increase. But in Pound it will increase from the first.
Jonwo
Alien Covenant is going to do well but it's not going to match Prometheus' total.
Krissykins
Alien was really busy last night at my showing but not quite sold out. Fun film, with problems, but hopefully it opens well.
