The Dark Alfred
TDK had a similar run. Even though the competition is weak still it is an incredible achievement for a film to stay on top for 5 weeks, over 30 days reigning.
The Dark Alfred
Not much to report. DK #1 for the 30th day in a row, longest reign on top of the decade. Hitman #2, 4-day will be slightly behind DK's 3-day. Dark Tower bombs away at #5, the UK crowd is stupid enough to give Emoji another great hold.

I blame a lack of big family films. DM3 has been out nearly two months and the other family options haven't done well. Dunkirk has done superb business, surprised Hitman's Bodyguard wasn't able to top it. At this point, I'm not sure if any of the new releases next weekend will dethrone Dunkirk although I think American Made has a shot. I've already started seeing IT posters around town so WB are cranking the marketing already. Edited August 21, 2017 by Jonwo
The Dark Alfred
Competition was weak but DK is also having probably the strongest WoM of any films of the decade. Three £10m grossing films opened during its run which is a decent tally for an August release, so simply DK is just a beast. Hitman's having an ok opening, looking at £1.8m 4-day. You can't show me many films that doing near £2m on its 5th weekend. That's Bond and Potter territory, which is incredible for a war movie!!!! Heretic
So I take it Dunkirk is having a softer drop this weekend than the past 2? 5 weeks in top is impressive as hell.

The Dark Alfred
Just to underline how incredible and historic this run is, DK soon arriving to a territory where it's gonna overtake Avengers, Bond and Potter films!!! Jonwo
Looks like Hitman's Bodyguard did break Dunkirk's streak due to its four day opening although Dunkirk still won Friday-Sunday.
The Dark Alfred
Just to clarify, Dunkirk stayed on top every day, so the streak is on, 32 days and counting. I have checked the actual 4-day tally is £1.83m for Hitman, officially second place, but nice try from Lionsgate to fudge that report 😊 1
Jonwo
Could Dunkirk make six weeks at number 1? I think American Made will be number 1 but it would not surprise me if Dunkirk returns to number 1 the week after. The Dark Alfred
I wouldn't rule it out but American Made looks like a fun ride, so hopefully it will do well. It only needs a slightly higher OW than Atomic Blonde or Hitman to grab the top spot. I don't have much hope for Detroit, Logan Lucky will do meh, we'll see if it can produce decent WoM.
Jonwo
I don't think anyone would have thought Warner Bros would win the summer on both sides of the Atlantic a few months ago. In the UK, They have the most number 1 films not only just this summer but in 2017 overall! IT will likely be number 1 for two weeks as well. The Dark Alfred
Blade Runner and JL to follow, WB will rule the fall as well.
