Asyulus
$70m for DM3 possible?
Jonwo
I wonder if Dunkirk will manage five weeks at number 1, I have a feeling that The Hitman's Bodyguard will be number 1 this weekend since it has a four day opening. The Dark Tower could surprise but I'm not expecting to do more than £1.3-1.5m Edited August 15, 2017 by Jonwo

DM3 must have slightly better legs. This was due to the big ER difference. DM3 opened at around £11m and Minions at around £11.5m but the 4 million USD difference is because of the exchange rate. However the OW to 7th weekend multi for DM3 is slightly better than Minions OW to 7th weekend multi. DM2 after 7 weekends had £39.9. Minions had £41.8m. DM3 now has £41.6m. If DM3 was in 2015 ER, it would have crossed $60m in the UK by now.

For the 39.9m euro and 41.8m euro figure of DM2 and Minions, was it using 2015 ER or 2017 ER? Edited August 15, 2017 by Asyulus
Heretic
It won't come close to $70m, but it could hit $60m, although it might miss it by a couple of mil. Edited August 15, 2017 by Heretic
The Dark Alfred
DK continues to dominate the weekdays. Longest streak on top since Fantastic Beasts. Probably loses its crown this weekend. The last film that reigned more than four weeks was Avatar.
Lizzy
Slightly OT but are less films being shown in 3D now? I noticed my local Cineworld has no 3D films showing on Friday even with the new releases. Is it because it's not a popular format? Personally I much prefer 2D so I'm just curious to find out. There's less 3D releases in general, but even when they are coming out, they're more limited in showtimes and get dropped quicker. It's almost like they only have them to fulfill a contractual obligation now.

I don't think there any 3D films being released until October when Blade Runner 2049 is out although I wonder if that'll be released in 3D in the UK. The only 3D releases on the horizon aside from BR are Ninjago, Geostorm, Thor, Justice League and Star Wars.

The Dark Alfred
Hitman previews weren't great, DK might hold onto the top spot. That would be a historical achievement, no film stayed on top for 5 weeks since Avatar. DK can do something Potter, Bond, SW couldn't pull off. Go Nolan, go!! Should be around £49m by Sunday.

Most people don't like 3D. Not because of the extra ticket price or anything they just don't like it. 3D showings are always quieter than 2D. Cinema near me has virtually given up on 3D as it does so badly. There was a big film recently, I think one of the Marvel films, can't remember what it was, and they did not have a single 3D showing.

The Dark Alfred
Logan Lucky is getting decent promo. Dunkirk eventually will fade. Having said that it's getting IMAX expansion at some places but American Made will take loads of showings off.

The Dark Alfred
It is getting digital IMAX but for instance the BFI extended DK's run due to high demand. Going to see it again on Monday. Sold out show.
