I think Sony's decision to release it later in the UK paid off. The only other family movie is A Wrinkle in Time which I think will get lost in the shuffle. I expect PR will be number 1 again this week as Pacific Rim won't make much of a dent. Will be interesting how Ready Player One does in two weeks. Avatree
anyone know where I might be able to find 2D IMAX shows of Pacific Rim? My local IMAX has it in 2D but it's a pretty small screen especially when the movie is just normal 2.35:1 ratio I think. want to see it on the biggest screen possible. They probably won't do IMAX 2D for this with Ready Player One swooping in on Thursday. You may have to suck it up.

Dayum man, that's a trek. I've been wanting to check out their IMAX for a while. How does it compare to Leicester Square?

I saw Warcraft at Sheffield and Rogue One at Leicester Square, Warcraft really wowed me. Also I love the Sheffield cinema, it is massive and plush. It's a nice cinema definitely, was meant to go to the imax there, but my ma was late coming in from Leeds so we missed our show of fantastic beasts Edited March 22, 2018 by SchumacherFTW
fabiopazzo2
For families, Sony’s Peter Rabbitkept stuffing his basket with a $28Mweekend and $76.3M to date abroad. That includes a great two weeks in the UK where the total is a hop, skip and a jump from $20M.

Krissykins
Yikes, parents over here really will take their kids to see anything. Amazing for Greatest Showman passing £40m! Wow at how much A Wrinkle In Time bombed. Solid for Tomb Raider. Red Sparrow did well, somehow.
SchumacherFTW
Looks like Greatest Showman is finally starting to slow down, hell of a run though. Might go see it again before it closes.

ZeeSoh
Avengers Infinity War SMASHES UK box office records: Have you got your advance ticket yet? Odeon cinemas are reoprting unprecedented levels of interest with one ticket being sold every ten seconds. The new superhero epic, which arrives into cinemas on April 26, is already Odeon's 5th highest pre-selling film of all time, ahead of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Spectre. With a month to go, it is on course to blast past all previous records. The Odeon chain has a staggering 4,000 screenings taking place over the first four days of the opening weekend, with more than 450 midnight screenings across 115 UK and Irish cinemas. Fans may need superhero speed to snap up these tickets, since half of the advance bookings so far have been for the midnight shows. Fans are also keen to see the epic movie on the biggest screens possible. Odeon reports that one third of presale tickes have been for their IMAX presentations. Midnight shows and opening day screenings are always the time when fans really go to town and the cinema chain is encouraging them to embrace their inner superheroes and come in full costume. 6 3

It does have the benefit of opening over the long Easter weekend, with an extra day because of the Thursday opening, so for the 5 day including Easter Monday maybe £6m or so. It has two weeks of school holidays which will give it a good boost, and reviews are pretty good which should help. It could actually be a right race to number 1 as Peter Rabit will definitely have a strong hold over the holiday weekend. That ones heading for a likely £30m+ total with Easter break now.
