Burgess
'Skyfall' to be widest ever UK release by Sony PicturesThe new James Bond film "Skyfall" will be the widest release ever by Sony Pictures in the UK.They have confirmed that Daniel Craig's third outing as 007 will be showing in 587 cinemas in the UK, on more than 1,500 screens. That is quite a leap from the previous film, "Quantum of Solace" (2008), which opened across 1,150 screens in the UK & Ireland. Record-breaking "Casino Royale" (2006) was narrower still with just 988 screens on opening week.Additional IMAX screens and higher ticket prices for the premium screenings will also give "Skyfall" a great shot at breaking box-office records in the UK.

SchumacherFTW
Anyone taken a look at BFI IMAX? Every single showing up to midnight on Monday is sold out. If it weren't for Breaking Dawn this could have a cracking run there!

Fullbuster
I guess Skyfall can have the highest OW all-time, but about the OD, you think it can go beyond £9.5m? It seems to be a hard task.. Edited October 26, 2012 by Fullbuster

I very much doubt it'll get either... I can't see it topping £9.5m. DH2 also had the added benefit of being in 3D with loads of midnight showings to add to its OD; two things that Skyfall does not have. OW could reach £20-21m, but for it to beat DH2, it'd have to do £24m, which won't happen.

SchumacherFTW
I'm kind of glad i'm not going today now. It's just so monumentally insane at the moment. Would be fun to work at a cinema tonight though.

Fake
Yes! Very good! Now if only NA could mirror the excitement of UK, my 'over-optimistic' prediction of 90m OW would come true.....

Heretic
£7m you say? I wonder where you got that from. Two posts above yours, I would imagine. Oh fuck you Algren. I predicted that because that's what's likely to happen from pre-sales etc. I'm not going to predict £3m when I know its not going to make that, am I? I hope it beats TE2's gross in one day. That would be hilarious. Edited October 26, 2012 by Heretic

That would be hilarious.Of course it's going to beat TE2's gross. Bond is a bigger franchise and it's a British product. Wouldn't bother me at all. I would say "nice try" at trying to annoy me, but it really wasn't. It was lame. Anyway, baa baa (bye bye)
