Well, if this does disappoint at the box office, can't say they didn't make their own bed

With Joker being a mega bomb, V3 had 4 weeks of zero competition. Crazy how high ceiling could have been if this had been better.

It's not a surprise at all, it's a Sony Movie , outside Spiderman/Spiderverse movies, it's always not good

And the Spider-Man movies are mostly successful because of Marvel at this point. I know they've been having their own issues as of late, but still. I honestly don't get Sony because it's almost like they're doing it on purpose.

??? I thought early reactions were glowing

Many films which get panned by the critics have early glowing reactions; most fo the early reactions are from the fanboys who ar eheavily disposed to like the film.

Even "review proof" franchises wear out their welcome eventually. If they're not reinventing themselves in any way with new installments, the core fanbase will erode as tastes shift and more of them get busier with real life concerns.

And assuming this was intended as the "final installment" they probably weren't all that motivated to present a novel hook here.

Idk Joker 2 had pretty bad early reactions. Antman 3 we could see the warning signs based on reactions.

venom was all very positive

This won't implode like Joker did (due to subversion of expectations + extreme audience dissatisfaction with the execution) but it feels like it's destined disappoint with an underwhelming total compared to the first two at this point. I guess it really is up to the Wicked/Gladiator combo + Moana to save the box office in about a month.

Last Dance seems almost begging to solely be watched on airplanes, in the soporific 90 minutes between dinner service and uneasy, upright sleep. It functions best as an accidentally found object rather than something deliberately sought out.
