Seems like they’ve tried to do something different with the adaptation, which might be more interesting to people not familiar with the game.

It's becoming more common, sure. But this was the first program that did this, and Jann was the first success. But it's still not something to be dismissed, real life racing is a whole different kettle of fish from sim racing and shouldn't be dismissed.
