I still have Wonka pretty far ahead, and it’s murky for the other 3. TCP would have to make on Xmas OD somewhere around 5x Wonka’s Thursday, currently projected ~$3.5M, to make it a close race

I am also confident on Wonka winning the month and Q4 as well. Its presales are backloaded looking at Christmas day sales. Plus its a crowd pleaser and we already have data from OS release.

The week from the 25th to the 31st will be massive for it, it will be really fun to track Wonkas numbers during that.

Color Purple's embargo is also a little concerning. And considering it's been almost completely blanked from awards (notably AFI and Globes who both went for Mary Poppins Returns) reception for it might be a problem.

Audience got a chance to see it last weekend and are raving it calling it a huge crowd pleaser so WOM won't be a problem. Also this is a WB film and they typically don't release reviews until the week of its premiere. Some with Barbie and Wonka. Color purple is still two weeks away. People clearly underestimated this movie popularity.

Wonka reviews have been out on 12/1. Social media reactions last week of November. Barbie Social media reactions were out 12 days before release as well.

My local 8 screen theatre only has showtimes up until the Thursday next week, but based on what's playing, it looks like we'll probably have 8 separate films playing dirif the holidays.

 

Its getting Aquaman, Migration, Anyone But You and Iron Claw all on Thursday previews. It'll still have Wonka. Hunger Games is still going strong, and, it's a family community, so I'm guessing they keep Trolls durif the break.

 

Animal is still going really strong here, but, I wonder if they're going to drop it for Color Purple on Christmas. It's either that or Hunger Games if it plays.

 

That's a pretty deep holiday line up.

 

It's nice to not have an 800 lb gorilla hogging the screens this year. Just the fact that we don't have any certainty on who's going to win the holiday period feels like such a throwback.
