rcalcagn
People shouldn't be surprised by Titanic's drop; it was the only date movie these past two weekends and now there's two films that appeal to couples from teenagers to black couples to young and old. Paramount and Fox should be extremely happy though considering it could get something like $300M international when alls said and done.

blackspider
Damn TLAM exploded. I had a feeling this could have been big. Also pretty good for TLO. Nicolas Sparks books are guaranteed BO successes I guess. And great Friday for THG. Should be able to get around 13-14m this weekend. This will be nearly neck and neck with DH2 at the same point. DH2 had a 36m lead on THG through their opening weeks so THG has closed that gap really fast. 400m is still on the table, let's hope THG can have a decent Sunday hold for once. MovieMan89
Does CiTW have a chance at 40M+ total?I think it can. Would love to see a 3x multi and about a 45m finish for it.
Deep Wang
Drag Me To Hell got to $42 off of a slightly larger opening. However, based on estimates, Cabin is looking like it will have a better second weekend hold. If that is the case, could one assume that the rest of the drops will be better than those that Drag had? I miss you Cocho!
Robertron
Is there a Deadline report for the numbers? It's the only estimates report I like because of the format and the weekend estimates as well.
Robertron
Oh and Paramount/Fox should be absolutely over the moon with Titanic. If I remember correctly, it was $18m for the conversion, so it's made a nice little profit from DOM alone. Then add in even the little amount it'll get from China and they're still laughing all the way to the bank!
filmscholar
Too bad urban movies like TLAM do so poorly overseas. I wonder what the highest grossing predominantly black movie overseas is. Urban genre films do bad overseas but it's not cause they aren't good films though they just aren't marketed and distributed overseas to have the success they could have. George Lucas was very vocal about Hollywood politics when it comes to race and all black cast with his struggles to make "Red Tails". I am very happy for "TLAM" success. It was based on a very popular book which mostly minorities made a best seller which was by comedian Steve Harvey. With a very low budget (Like most all black cast films) it could go north of 75 Million at the Box Office. I think Hollywood needs to take more chances on minority cast cause there is an audience out there that doesn't only want to see Tyler Perry influenced films. And that's no disrespect to him he's been very successful but I'm disappointed in Tylers choice to make the same old films over and over again. A good movie is a good movie regardless of race but Hollywood rarely puts the budgets in all black cast cause of fear it won't do well. The Irony of the whole thing is I'm sure nobody in Hollywood thought an All Black Cast would end "Hunger Games" Reign at the top. As for your questions, the Biggest All Black Cast film to do major numbers overseas was "Coming To America" with a budget of 39 Million was at the time the highest budget for an all black cast. Red Tails now has the record: Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $128,152,301 44.4% + Foreign: $160,600,000 55.6% = Worldwide: $288,752,301 Edited April 22, 2012 by filmscholar
Jandrew
I drove by my theater a few hours ago and it was PACKED TO THE MAX, i havent seen that many parking spaces filled since Hunger Games and the Valentines Weekend. Happy for TLAM and TLO, just image if Think Like A Man made it to around say 2,800 theaters! Cant wait to Saturday numbers. Kevin Hart might have only 1 scene in T5YE, idk, but they better market him in QUICK, just like they did with the "im Katniss" line.
