DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE WEEKEND THREAD | 211 DOM, 233.1 OS, 444.1 WW | Disney does it again!

Uni will be happy with twisters' domestic take I'm sure but as far as turning it into a revival franchise I'm not sure they can ignore how badly it's tanking overseas. Maybe disaster movies as a genre have a future again but I don't know if tornadoes would be very sustainable.

The stars, Powell in particular, are looking to be busy for the foreseeable future anyway so the chances of us getting a Twisters sequel felt small to begin with. Suspect the studio will be fine accepting this as a one-off.

Per Box Office stat firm EntTelligence, Deadpool & Wolverine clocked 13.6M admissions stateside. The last time a film reached 13M patrons in a 3 day stretch was July 2023 with Barbie at 13.1M. Only Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (13.8M) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (20M+) have had more post pandemic.

Interesting stats. I think what surpises me the most is that MoM had higher admission numbers than Deadpool and Wolverine. Its easy to forget because its reception was so mixed-negative, but MoM truly had Hype.

D&W will end up having more admissions at the end of its run.

I think it’s opened in most markets. Only way it tops BB is if it gets close to $300 million domestic.

So in answer to your question, yes - BB4 will likely beat it worldwide.

it makes no sense why Twisters is doing so badly overseas. It may be American themed but plenty of American themed movies have done at least solid numbers overseas.

It's not relatable to most overseas audiences, idiots chasing twisters and tornados for fun and then being surprised it's actually dangerous once they are inside is not something appealing or very interesting.

That seems fairly conservative.

Exceptional opening, both DOM and OS. Still probably lowballed, i think we’ll wake up tomorrow with 210M DOM / 440M WW

The billion is obviously locked, the WOM is too good. Very happy for theaters and hoping the energy keeps going for movies like Trap, Alien and others.

It may seem unlikely, but I do see Alien: Romulus if it's really damn good and appeals to more beyond the core Alien fanbase opening on par or slightly higher than Prometheus' $51.0M. That would be awesome!
