Looks like it has a distributor in the US, but not in the UK. Frustrating as hell.

Unfortunately these kind of films are usually left undistribuied, but if you are interested look at what I've found this time after a quick research:

Eh, that's not really my style. I'll happily watch something else if I can't get it legally

I get it but In most cases fansubs are way better than offical subs. Not to mention they also have typesetting among other things

"Japan shifting away from Foreign Film is accelerating"

"In 2022, the annual box office (213.1 billion yen) returned to 80% of the highest ever (2019), with four works exceeding 10 billion yen. Last year, the film industry was buzzing with talk of a booming economy, but this year's New Year's performance has brought to light a long-standing problem."

"The 2023 New Year's box office, which started in December last year, continued to have a contrasting composition of "strong Japanese anime" and "sluggish foreign movies"."

『THE FIRST SLAM DUNK』

""THE FIRST SLAM DUNK" has already surpassed 11 billion yen in box office revenue, and it is showing momentum that it is expected to exceed 12 billion yen at the end, while 10 billion yen was expected for "Avatar: Way of Water". ” was only 4.2 billion yen, less than one-third of the previous work “Avatar” (15.6 billion yen / 2009), and the blockbuster “Babylon” starring Brad Pitt is also showing signs of failure."

"It became clear that the slump in the popularity of foreign films and the declining number of foreign film fans, which have been problems in the Japanese film market for the past 20 years, are being accelerated by the corona virus."

Summarising everything -

(2006 marked a turning point in the decline of foreign films)

(Mid-level hits, which had supported the foreign film industry, sharply decreased)

(Absence of Hollywood Stars Who Can Call Audiences By Name)

(Two points to overcome the declining foreign film population)

(A bright sign as the presence of foreign films declines)

(Mid-level hits, which had supported the foreign film industry, sharply decreased)

Mr. Otaka explains this background as "Hollywood movies have become a standard, and Japan audiences have become bored."

One of the reasons for this is the CG image, which has been used extensively in Hollywood movies in recent years and has evolved. In the past, spectacular images surprised and impressed audiences, but now they are not as fresh as they used to be.

"Technological innovation beyond CGI has not been achieved. We got to the point where we were going to end up, and the images were no longer surprising or fresh, and the audience was turning away."

Mr. Otaka exudes a sense of crisis, saying, "In 2023, Hollywood studios will be in the process of not focusing on the Japan market, and Japan Western-style film distributors must think carefully about it."

(Two points to overcome the declining foreign film population)

First of all, what Japan Western film distributors should do is to "As Hollywood studios look ahead to the global market, Japan branch offices that understand the Japan market must take the lead in advertising each film that touches the hearts of Japan people."

The other is that the media and Western film distributors convey the fun of Western films.

"In the 1990s, there were many stars who could call the audience by the actor's name, but now that stardom has died out, and Tom Cruise is the only star who can connect the royal road. There are various external factors, but the inability to produce stars is the root of the decline of Western painting."

Timothée Chalamet, a foreign actor who is now popular worldwide, is pushing female moviegoers to the theater even in Japan, as in Bones and All, but that is also the core, not the mass.
