In the past 45 minutes, Zootopia has added 16,000 to its sampled total, which is now over 36,000. If it continues at a similar pace, I think it might get to over 70,000 sampled admissions by 14:00 (2PM).

 

That would be a 6% increase from last week.

I happened to be looking at last Sunday to see if anyone posted early numbers to compare to today.  Did 19.5k in the last hour and is at 36,300 at 1145.

I'll go with 16-18k per hour.

Should be low 70s by 1400. Up 10% from 66k last week

 

BRRIP hit the web on zoo yesterday. 

BRay hits market on the 6/6. 

Not in Japan though

I can do better than that. Here are the tri-hourly updates for each of the last four weekend days.

 

Each week's showtime will be slightly different, so comparing the exact same times to each other might not be totally accurate, but it certainly seems to be increasing over last Sunday.

I wonder if piracy has affected BO. Movies are often released much later than domestic. Sometimes after DVD is released elsewhere and HDRIPS are available.  English is spoken by many there. The BO for HLWD movies has really dropped off in the last 10 years.

Nice. I think the weekend will be up 7-8% in revenue. Over 4.5m. 12%+ over OW. 

That locks up 63m as the floor if it starts declining 20-25% next weekend. 

A small decline will beget high 60s

Another small increase next weekend will lock up 72m as a floor without a visible celling

Frozen was released 1 month before the Golden Week started in Japan while Zootopia just 1 week before

 

It kind of makes me wonder how different the numbers would have been if Zootopia had been released in Japan a few weeks earlier.

 

We are seeing a clear pattern of Zootopia holds and increases due to good word-of-mouth spreading.

 

Had we had that spread of word-of-mouth before Golden Week started, maybe we wouldn't even need to talk about if Zootopia can still hit 1 Billion now.

Golden Week happened.

 

Frozen was released at a much earlier time in Japan than Zootopia.

l think it would have been momentarily overwhelmed by Conan, in the same way that Big Hero 6 got tripled up by that year's Yo-Kai Watch when they opened together.
