CoolioD1
Quote A woman started shouting as she left the theater, and I’m pretty sure she said “Tim Burton you raped my childhood.” No c'mon this isn't real.
AniNate
Man I'm not even that interested in this but I always hate whenever test screening reactions become "the narrative". They just stir up pointless shit, and they betray a certain cynical intent on the part of the people sharing them. You think they would learn better, but, sadly, they don't seem to learn.

It's a dick move that shows a lack of respect for the test screening process. By sharing reactions you're pushing a narrative that "this movie is bad and I have eyewitness proof", when the whole point of test screenings is to get discreet audience criticism so that the movie can be reworked accordingly. Not aimed at you at all. I agree that the people who start these rumors are wrong, but I have to blame people who fall for every stray rumor that comes along. People get confused because the4re are two kinds of advance screenings" Test Screenings to get the audeince reaction, and then screenings of the completed film to try got get publicity and WOM for the film. Do not confuse the two.

They are all hit and miss, so just take it with a grain of salt.
MikeQ
This is the kind of teaser that's meant to be more of an announcement video - like "hey folks, a Beetlejuice sequel is coming - and it is going to be an actual sequel, not a reboot, with all of the characters you know and love plus Jenna Ortega" (cue closeups of all the characters). Personally, I'm psyched. I have time to adjust my expectations downwards if reactions/reviews/full trailers are terrible. dudalb
A film can survive a bad first teaser...remember how bad the first teaser for "Frozen" was?
WebSurfer
I saw the first film recently; it's not really my cup of tea, but I can see potential in the sequel.
WebSurfer
Honestly, I think a third film would be a perfect idea, just so they can use the full Beetlejuice call.

WebSurfer
I’m not seeing the box office hype for this one. Not sure why people are expecting it to open above +100
AniNate
I guess because IT did? I'm thinking like $200mil total is the benchmark for this with an ok critical reception. Edited May 21 by AniNate
dudalb
If it's good, it will do well, but 100 Million is a bit much to expect ow. given the reduction in ticket buying audiences we have seen. People still don't get that overall, we have suffered a huge decline in thater attedence since 2019... biggest since TV came in in the early 50's where theater attendence took a 40% hit. This is not that big, but big enough to pretty much changt the game. COvid is over, but people have gotting into the "wait for streaming" habit, and that is not going to chanbe. I think this would have happened with the widespread advent of streaming it just would have been more gradual.

SpiderByte
I am very unconvinced of this having a wide appeal among people who didn't see the original.
