Rsyu
Inside out weekend 695,978, 26% drop, excellent! Pixels dropped 83.4% in its 2nd weekend. Inside out Presales are 100% bigger than last week, maybe a lower Monday drop? could be but wouldn't be surprised if walk ups are weaker due to most of the business being diverted to Assassination now. dropsicaldackel
Sorry guys, been away for a spell! ASSASSINATION off to a predictably good start and it's certainly a contender for 10, though competition is tough, so I wouldn't call it a lock just yet. MI5 and VETERAN could easily get 15 million between them and with MEMORIES OF THE SWORD also in play, that only leaves so much for the taking. Someone asked about marketing budgets? Every film is different but generally, the P&A for commercial films is about 1.5 mil. For something like ASSASSINATION, maybe 2.5? That's just a guess.

Which film do you predict will come out on top next week, MI5 or Assassination? I'm on the fence right now because I thought MI5 would have taken the top spot in presales at the end of the week but it hasn't happened yet. I'm guessing MI5 will have the higher presales by OD but could see walk ups being stronger for Assassination. If ASSASSINATION holds really well it could be as much as 2.2-2.4 and MI5 could easily go over 2, throw in 1 million or so for holdovers and other new releases and you're looking at a total haul of 5.2-5.4 mil. Last year's similar weekend (when ROARING CURRENTS opened) reached 5 million and I believe that's still the record. I'm guessing that's a bit too much of an increase which is more likely to affect ASSASSINATION, which means... I dunno, too close to call! Rsyu
Yeah, I'd pretty much lock 10M admissions for Assassination with that monday number. Presales increases are great too and I think now that there's a good chance it wins the week again. Insane weekly hold (or I should say increase) for inside out. KFP1&2 not out of reach just yet provided it holds well against IM5 & minions this week.

That's actually a decent list of film choices though. Panda + Dragon are the strongest DW franchises and it has the recent Disney revolution, a Ghibli and the highest attended animated flick stateside. Though weird how no one sees animated flicks in SK compared to Japan and to other movies.

Though weird how no one sees animated flicks in SK compared to Japan and to other movies. The biggest Pixar film prior to Inside out was TS3 with 1.4M admissions and $12M gross so yeah, you're right on that. Animated films are a lot of the time perceived as generally being targeted for children here which is why they don't draw in the adult audience that much, although I do think this perception is gradually changing. Frozen in particular showed that it's possible for an animated film to overcome the limitations of it's genre and achieve blockbuster heights. Infernus
963,763 admissions. Seems pretty low but I guess this is the average level for animated movies here. Anyways as per Rsyu animated films don't make much here due to being considered childish or only-for children stuff. In that case, a movie that actually perfectly fits that description (Minions) shouldn't be able to make much here either, I think.
