yjs
Where did you get the 1.2M figure for The Lion King? The official Seoul # on Kobis is 920,948. hahaha okay this makes me feel real old, but I have a scrapbook of Disney articles from the newspapers from the mid to late 90s' the article was about the falldown of Disney starting Pocahontas and how Hercules failed compared to its predecessors and it showed the Lion King as the 1.2M Seoul admission movie... lol http://news.chosun.com/svc/content_view/content_view.html?contid=1997080770349 it has some other Seoul numbers. TLM (600K), BatB (750K), Aladdin (900K), Pocahontas (650K), Notredame (700K) and Hercules (570K). as far as I remember, Mulan did 900K and Tarzan did 700K. and due to some technical issues, Kobis data for the movies released before 2004 are a little under-reported. (cause that's the year Kobis was established.) hope it helps!

Hmm so many conflicting numbers but in this case I agree, the news articles seems to be dealing with WDAS renaissance films specifically so it's probably more accurate. That said, I don't think there's an adequate way to compare the renaissance films to BH6 since nationwide numbers can't be extrapolated with any degree of certainty from Seoul numbers. Also, the network of cinemas nationwide is much better established now compared to 94 so it stands a good chance of passing the national figure even if BH6 doesn't reach 1.2M admissions in Seoul. Rsyu
Another benefit of placing first in the box office is that the films gets more media coverage. I can see Big hero 6 making the front page of the entertainment section on major portal sites tomorrow morning. Hopefully this leads to more extensive word of mouth. CelestialFairyIX
I'm stupendously happy that BH6 finally topped the daily box office in Korea! Let's just hope it keeps up good legs and at least passes $15 million USD! ~ Is $30 million USD in SK asking for too much or is it possible?

That would require 4M in admissions, almost reaching kung-fu panda levels. Right now that's a tad too optimistic I think but who knows. Lets see how it performs during weekdays first.
