pepsa
It will be at 425K by the end of the day, that would mean 70K from last night, prety good.
druv10
Should cross 400k in a couple of hours.. If the last 48 hoursdoubles it won't be far from 1million Yep, it's around 413K and 93.6% of all presales. It could potentially reach 95% that Rsyu thought was possible.
Ent
I read that there are released warnings against scalping tickets for AOU. I think this also happened with Interstellar. Is this common in SK with blockbusters? What does "scalping tickets" means ?
chasmmi
this currently equals about $3.5m in presales so far (depending on the ratio of children/3d showings. Extrapolate that for an American sized population and the presales would already mean an Opening day over $20M on a Thursday, 80 hours behore the film is released.
chasmmi
What does "scalping tickets" means ? If I know back row Imax tickets for AOU are going to be popular. I buy 10 of them for 12 dollars each and then sell them outside cinemas (in the past) or on online auction sites (nowadays) for maybe $20 or even more. It happens a lot in Korea, especially for internation artists doing 1 concert in Seoul on a world tour, or trian tickets during major holidays. The pace should increase the last 3 days Yep, it's around 413K and 93.6% of all presales. It could potentially reach 95% that Rsyu thought was possible. chasmmi
More screens If my local cinema is anything to go by it will be hard to get many more screens: http://www.lottecinema.co.kr/LHS/LHFS/Contents/CinemaInfo/Cinema.aspx?CinemaGroupCode=0001&CinemaCode=1003&ScreenType=100#n (Avengers is anything with the big red e by it, you may need to move the date forward to 23rd) In a 10 screen cinema it has: Standard screens 2,4 and 9 all to itself. screen 5 (3D) to itself, Screen 8 (alternate 3D and 2D) to itself Screen 7 (4D) to itself Screen 6 (couples screen) to itself That only leaves screens 1,3 and 10 (3 and 10 being the two smallest standard screens) left for every other film (and Ultron already has one soldout showing from screen 3 as well) Actually counting the total number showings, it has: 2D: 23 shows 3D: 9 shows 4D: 7 shows Couples: 7 shows Total: 46 shows in a day Number of seats: 2D: 5345 3D: 1669 4D: 651 Couples: 392 Total: 8057 So if everything sells out the gross for this single cinema on opening day would be (roughly) 2D: $40,000 3D: $19,000 4D: $10,000 Couples: $6000 Total: $75,000 My maths could be way off with the average ticket prices (age skew etc), but that seems pretty crazy potential numbers for 1 cinema in a non-happening part of Seoul
Rsyu
Despite the huge presales, I still have some doubts as to whether or not AoU can break the OD record here. The Key demo for the film will be at school/work for most of the earlier part of the day so walk ups might not be that good compared to something like RC which was released during summer holidays.
pepsa
With 418K presales it's at 4.347M $ already on presales allone. This is going to be huge, realy huge.

pepsa
Is that for OD? It's just presales in general, so for the hole weekend I gues, altought most of the will be for the OD. And we still have 3 more days of presales, so it will be at 8M$ and 825K tickets I gues.
