Also what I tend to see with Valerian is this.

 

Me: "I am so excited for Valerian!"

Friend: "What?"

Me: "The movie Valerian, coming out in 2 weeks"

Friend: "Never heard of it."

Me: *shows trailer*

Friend when Luc Besson's name or Fifth Element pops up during the trailer: "Oh this guy!" "Omg, Fifth Element! Loved that movie!" "He did Fifth Element?!"

Friend when trailer is done "That looks really cool, I might have to see it now."

 

If that movie had a better date (August) and more aggressive marketing, it could be a solid win for STX and Besson.

Bit nervous, I just hope RT is good for the sake of the distant dream of a sequel.

 

I will watch it even if it has 20% on RT(hoping to like it anyway) but I know most won't so yeah.

That still might not be enough for a sequel, Dom BO still seems pretty important, it might need at least 100m Dom and really good international numbers for there to be a sequel.

I see an article about how the movie as sell like an indie movie and how this help the movie to not flop... so i think maybe the normal conditions of how much money they need to make a sequel don't apply here.

 

Luc itself said recently, if Valerian gross something around Lucy, the movie will be profitable. 

Let's hope it's true!
