I say hi.

November 2013

Thor: TDW

CF

Frozen (Not as big)

May 2007

3 300M+ movies adjust to appox 350M.

Frozen+Thor<FD

and all those 3 films from may 2007 disappointed and were down from their predecessors, 2 of them by more than 100M. May 2007 is an example of how not to schedule films.

December 2015 is the obvious choice. A month after the two giant november releases, plenty of time to let them run their course before MoS2 comes out. WB needs to come out and claim MoS2's spot as the big december release, December 18th makes total sense. Only others things currently are Alvin on December 11th and KFP3 December 23rd.  It will break The Hobbits december record and then get very strong christmas and new years weekend holds as they both are Friday's that year. The legs will not be cut by insane competition. Its obvious WB! Don't anybody say fucking Avatar 2 either, there is no chance that will before 2016.

I think we will get a DC film in 2015, Maybe even two. I would prefer MoS 2 to get a July slot and the other DC film to get December but I'd be fine with MoS 2 in December.

Still 300M+ Could it have been because the movies were bad?

Not if TDW makes 315M and Frozen makes 150M that is 365M, a good mark for Dory.

Recent Superhero films in Israel:

Avengers: 750K

IM3: 541K

TDKR: 535K

TDK: 520K

TASM: 500K

MOS: 489K

XM:FC: 193k

Multipliers from OW:

XM:FC: 5.4

TDKR: 5.1

TDK: 4.8

TASM: 4.7

IM3: 4

Avengers: 3.3

Since this is a summer release, I expect legs to be somewhere between TASM and XM:FC, so between 2.3M and 2.6M.

Forget my prediction. MOS dropped 49%, which would fine in most places but terrible in Israel, TDKR dropped 22% TASM dropped 28% and even Avengers managed a 40% drop. I can't see this making 2M any more, and even 1.5B is in danger if it doesn't stabilize soon.

max. overseas for MOS is 400-420 millions

With shockingly poor performances in key territories like Russia & Germany, disappointing results in Mexico (where superheroes movies are traditionally huge sellers), very good-but-coulda-been-better results in China, I say $400M is too generous. You can see 70% drops all over the territories, families are switching to lighter fares like MU & DM2. The lighter Spider-Man movies

are better performers overseas.

Having said that, I hope WB & Snyder & team do not water down MoS2 for a wider audience. I like the darker tone of this Superman.

I am a fan of the movie, that doesn't mean I cannot make an objective assessment of its box office performance.

Lovely sig but Pa Kent's death was ridiculous.Anyways, WOM for MOS here has been very mixed.A lot of people like it but a lot of people loathe it.

TDKR Is as good as it gets for superhero films in Germany, and even then it was number 3 of the year WW and only number 7 in Germany, so even that underperformed.

Third installments are not comparable to MoS. Maybe you should compare with another first movies.

In Germany (according BOM):

Batman Begins: 1.8 OW - 7.0 Total

Superman Returns: 1.9 OW - 3.7 Total

Iron Man: 3.4 OW - 8.6 Total
