24x multiplier and still making more than OW every weekend. Is there any competition coming up there that we should worry about?

Actually last weekend was lower than OW, for the 2nd time. Regarding competition, I think it won't have any big one until Edge of Tomorrow and Maleficent on July 4 and 5 respectively. After that summer blockbusters will be released every week. So it still has a month or so to dominate the box office.

Yes, there is.  It's the same competition that destroyed it at the US box office: itself, on home video.  July 16.

So, taking in a few assumptions, Frozen could be around 26-27b yen at the time of the video release. The video release should harm the subsequent business, but it won't destroy it. DVDs & BDs are expensive in Japan, so there still could be an audience who will opt for the theater. However, it seems that the bigger culprit will be theater loss rather than audience drift.

Even so, Frozen could go from ~800m a week to ~200m a week due to the release. It'll definitely slow down, but if it can then revert to its slow decline, it could still earn another 1-2b or so. So while it's not likely to match Spirited Away, it could come close. And I think there's still a chance it could beat Avengers OS gross. But it could be the same crawl for $400m DOM to see $900m OS.

Damn. Is it time to just merge words "impressive" and "sales" when it comes to Frozen?

So, that number for Frozen is only its first 6 days of sales?

Jeez, how long until we have numbers up to the present? You would think with a start like that that selling another 3 million over the last nearly 3 months would have happened so that Frozen would have broken the all time Blue Ray sales record. That should be news worthy.

The-Numbers updated dvd/bluray chart 8/9 week after, I think it is the time to have right data. For that we know, Frozen was #1 for 7 week in combined blu ray/dvd chart, but there aren't numbers, while it's sure that it is biggest seller ever for digital downloads.

It's hard to believe, but Frozen is still playing in other OS markets besides Japan. BOM has updated to include the May 30 - June 1 weekend.

UK- $12,043 +139.2% ($65,715,897)

Sweden - $23,920 +221.3% ($9,723,827)

Spain - $1,190 +4.9% ($21,660,742)

Bulgaria - $2,659 +540.7% ($1,400,330)

That seems to be all of them. Interestingly they all increased last weekend, 3 of them by a lot.

The-Numbers updates North America DVD/Bluray combined chart for week ending march 25 in which Frozen is released.

Frozen had sell 7,258,463 units for a total gross of  $128,472,649 in six days.

Comparison with other big sellers opening week:

Avatar 6,58M units

The Avengers 5,12M units

Desplicable Me 2 4,89M units

The Dark Knight Rises 4,16M units

Comparison with other Disney movies in its entire lifetime:

Brave 9,05M units

Beauty and the Beast 5,69M units

The Lion King 5,43M Units

Wreck-It Ralph 4,32M units

Is interesting that if Frozen will have the same opening multiplier of Brave it could sell over 20M units and gross domestically more in home video (adding rentals, vod, and digital downolads) than in cinemas. Note that Brave was #1 in home video chart for two weeks, while Frozen have been #1 for 8 times on 11 weeks since its opening.

So that's both DVD AND Blu-Ray sales within the first week?  Nearly beating every other Disney movie in their entire lifetime of DVD/Blu-Ray sales? (if only we could count home video too).

... Frozen is a powerhouse.  It keeps breaking records!

Unfortunately weekly charts show rank but not gross and units. As i know only the-numbers.com update numbers, but usually ten week after, so next week (12th in release), we will know 2nd week numbers.

Any chance we might know the current numbers eventually?  Why does it take this long to release the numbers for the 2nd week?
