Boxoffice.com's Top 100 Films of All Time! Presentation of the results to begin at 3 PM PST/6 PM EDT

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm not exactly expecting everyone to give a perfectly ranked, fixed list of films. I know people's opinions of individual films can change frequently. The idea is that people insert some strategy into their lists. Though, like I said, if everyone did this, then the rankings would be skewed. It's about finding the balance between your love for a movie and how you think the other members will rank it.Also, I think there will be more variety with this format. I see no reason the two projects can't go on at the same time though.

I came up with a list of about 120 movies and then I ranked them from 5 (Loved the movie and would watch anytime anyplace) to 3 (like the movie, but need to be in the right mood to watch it). That broke the list down into three groups which was a little bit more manageable.I found it pretty easy to rank my top movies, but extremely difficult when I came down to the final 20 or so movies. I had to leave some movies off of my list that I enjoy, but there was also a little strategy to that as well ^_^We love movies, that is why we are members of this forum - so this is something all of us should enjoy doing :)

Though I'm familiar with all the movies here, I've only seen two of them; Godfather & the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. :) Masterpieces both.

Sent in my Top 100. It could use further refining since the bottom 25 still seems fairly fluid (I had over 30 films hovering around in the just outside category). But further reflection won't change things much right now so I decided to bite the bullet. The front end of the list does skew towards older films (only 5 films from the 90s and 00s in the Top 25) but the recent decades pop up a lot more in the back half. The oldest film on the list is from 1931 (M). The most recent films in the list are from 2007 (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Zodiac).

A few things about my list to take note: no movie in the last two years will appear because how I rate movies is the re-watchability of them. Secondly, I rate how well they can stand the test of time by me seeing the name only and I can remember almost everything about the movie without even having to watch it. Again, this is slanted towards the newer movies as they are fresher in my mind than older movies.I'm not saying newer movies are bad, far from it. I would love to add almost instant classics like Avengers and Hunger Games and my yearly favorite Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. But those have not yet had time to fester and mend like my list below has.1. The Godfather2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day3. The Empire Strikes Back4. Superman5. Pulp Fiction6. Conan the Barbarian7. The Ten Commandments8. Titanic9. Star Wars10. The Terminator11. Fight Club12. The Natural13. Fantasia14. Top Gun15. Snatch16. Aladdin17. My Girl18. Independence Day19. Field of Dreams20. Return of the King21. The Two Towers22. Fellowship of the Ring23. Love Actually24. Superman II25. Revenge of the Sith26. Return of the Jedi27. Mary Poppins28. E.T.29. Braveheart30. Juno31. Dead Poets Society32. Dumb and Dumber33. The Godfather, part II34. First Blood35. The Phantom Menace36. Attack of the Clones37. Gladiator38. Amistad39. Blood Diamond40. The Terminator41. Forrest Gump42. Toy Story 343. Dirty Harry44. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs45. Saving Private Ryan46. The Passion of the Christ47. The Devil's Advocate48. The Lion King49. Rocky50. I haven't been here the last couple days, but I just wanted to say I've been receiving lots of lists and they're looking good. Please remember that if you do not PM your list, I cannot count it (that means you, Coolio and Don).
