Life is normal for high school student James Sumpter. He has plenty of friends, plays for his school's soccer team, and he's about to apply to college. James was pretty happy with the way his life was going, but things begin to change in a matter of time. One night, while he and his family are just at home together, a group of men, akin to a SWAT team, invade the house. These men are looking for James, and his parents are completely terrified. The men kill James's parents, and James is forced to escape from the second story window, forced to escape on his dad's motorcycle. James is emotionally traumatized by his parents' murder, but he has to escape from here, trying to find out who these men are, and why they would be after him.

James soon winds up an hour away in the city of Pittsburgh, PA. He tries to find a place to stay, in order to hide from the men who tried to kill him. He soon finds another young man, Benjamin, who lets him stay with him, upon realizing that he is on the run from men just like those who were after James. Benjamin teaches James how to think on his feet, and particularly how to move really fast, whether on feet or in a vehicle. The two stick together, much like two brothers, as they try to escape from this mysterious force of men. We soon meet Benjamin's younger sister, Emily, to whom James begins to fall in love. However, trouble once again occurs when the mind find Benjamin's home, and they kill him.

Emily and James follow the men incognito, having to know what they are doing once and for all. They soon access a portal in an alley way, and they go through it. James goes in to follow them, telling Emily that it's too dangerous to follow. James goes through and ends up in a more futuristic version of Pittsburgh, PA. Before long, James finally realizes the truth. Given the weapons and vehicles that these people use, they're actually from the future! The reason that James and Benjamin were being hunted down was that they were going to become dangerous criminals in their futures, so it was a sound solution, in their eyes, to kill people such a them before they threatened the future.

The gang of vigilantes is led by a man known as Kingston, and he claims to be doing so to protect the people and the justice of the country. The gang soon finds James, and he is chased around the city. He uses the skills he learned from Benjamin to stay alive for as long as he can. Unfortunately, he trips, and he is caught by the men. Kingston comes up to him, about to pull the trigger on James's head. Before he does so, James asks him to stop, begging him to let him say a few word before he pulls the trigger. Kingston agrees, but he places his men on even higher alert.

However, we see Kingston get shot from behind, and an older version of James comes up. He grabs his younger self and escapes. Both the police and the vigilante group are after him. James, in the future, is a cold-heated criminal. We eventually reach a car crash, and the older James is shot at the scene. James looks on at the scene in terror, seeing as how he is likely to die in this version of the future. The men are about to kill the younger James, but the police stop him. It is revealed that the men were participating in an illegal activity in "time murdering." James is sent back to the past, and Emily is relieved that he is okay. James realizes that this future needs to change.

The ending of the movie is a montage of James getting older. He writes a sci-fi novel based on his experiences, and he goes on to marry Emily. The future turns bright for the two, and James ends up as a famous novelist, leading a happy life with his wife and children. The final scene of the movie is when he is at an airport, and Kingston comes up to him, saying how he is a big fan of his novels, but he also seems like a familiar face. "Maybe we've met in another timeline," the older James says, right before he is about to board his flight. We can't change who we are, but we can change who we become.

STORY 1

Title fades in:

May 6th, 1937 in Lakehurst, New Jersey.

We hear some radio tuning sounds and then the first line of the film. "The airship is going to make an attempt at landing in the rain..." Some of radio's greatest moments are when the actual event occurs live on the air or while a reporter is recording and the unexpected happens. One such event happens to reporter Herb Morrison (J. Patrick) on May 6th, 1937 in Lakehurst, New Jersey. The mighty German passenger Zeppelin, Hindenburg, is attempting a mooring. Friends and family are at Lakehurst waiting for the arrival of the great zeppelin. Morrison is there too thanks to his radio station, WLS, Chicago. The day is rainy and there’s sing of an earlier strong thunderstorm. Morrison is recording the event for the live broadcast. The early part of his recording reflects information about the airship and the day and what is necessary to bring it into mooring under such conditions. We get to know a little bit of a history of the zeppelin as well. Engineer Charles Nehlsen (Reymare) is manning the Presto Direct Disc recorder. The recorder includes a large turntable with a 16-inch platter, a heavy-duty lathe, which would actually cut into the lacquer disc, and an amplifier. It’s important that these recorders are perfectly level and that vibration is avoided.

As the zeppelin arrives, Morrison is describing the mooring when suddenly it bursts into flames.

Title fades in and we see the tragedy in slow motion during the opening credits.

HINDENBURG

Morrison starts yelling, “It burst into flames!" The vibrations from the explosion causes the recorder to bounce on the disc creating deep grooves until Engineer Nehlson is able to momentarily lift the lathe from the disc and place it back down. Morrison is shocked, but keeps talking, though breaking occasionally as the tragedy unfolds in front of him. The broadcast continues as the victims are being brought in and survivors are interviewed.

It is radio news at its finest; news events reported as they happened. The description is brought home to radio's listeners and we show a few houses and family members, who react with shock to the terror they’re hearing. This event reflects the potential and power of radio at the time. Morrison carries on the broadcast and tries to interview some survivors. The first person he bumps into is Eugene Bentele….

STORY 2

April, 1930, Bremen, Germany.

Eugen Bentele (Tatum) receives a call from August Grözinger (Stamp), Flight Engineer for the LZ-127. "Bentele," Grözinger says, "you know your way around a VL-2 engine. Do you fancy working on an airship?" It is an easy decision for Bentele, and he officially joins Luftschiffbau-Zeppelin, at first in the Propulsion System Testing and Wind Tunnel Department. He is supposed to act as a replacement on board mechanic, should one of the LZ-127's usual mechanics fall ill or otherwise be unable to make a flight.

Bentele serves as a chief mechanic on board theHindenburg for its first North American flight of the 1937 season, having just been promoted to the position earlier that year. His primary duty involves overseeing engine #4, portside forward, and by the end of the flight he has experiences no difficulties or problems whatsoever with his engine. As the Hindenburg approaches the mooring area at Lakehurst at the end of the flight on May 6th, Eugen Bentele is on duty in engine gondola #4, along with flight engineer Raphael Schädler and mechanic trainee Theodor Ritter, who is manning the telegraph to the control car. Bentele watches the landing lines drop and sees the ground crew attach one of the lines to an engine driven capstan winch and begin to pull the ship down.

Shortly after this, as Bentele has his attention on his engine and is waiting for another order to come through from the control car, he feels a powerful shock running through the ship. He hears nothing but "a sort of a crackling crash" over the sound of the engine running, since he has cotton in his ears as he usually does while he is on duty in the engine gondola, and his initial thought is that one of the landing lines had broken. When he turns and looks out the rear of the engine car, however, he suddenly sees that the ship is already on fire from the stern almost as far forward as his engine gondola. He realizes that it would be suicide to try and jump at that point, as the ship is still almost 200 feet above the landing field. So he and his comrades hold on and wait for the ship to drop closer to the ground, hoping that the ship's aluminium framework wouldn't melt and drop the entire engine gondola to the ground.

The stern of the ship begins to drop, after the relative eternity of a few seconds, and Bentele realizes that his planned escape route through the side window of the gondola is blocked by Ritter and Schädler. He therefore holds on tightly to the girders across the roof of the gondola, waiting for his chance to jump. As the tail of the ship hits the ground, with the bow pointing up at roughly a 45-degree angle, the section of hull between the engines cars begin to telescope in upon itself, effectively slowing the descent of the forward engine cars. Bentele loses his conscious for a second and he’s thrown over the engine and out the back of the gondola when it strikes the ground. The next thing he knows that he’slying on the ground next to the propeller, at the edge of the burning wreckage. The sound goes off for a few second then we’re back with a bang and a loud noise.

He begins to pick himself up off of the ground behind engine gondola #4 and starts to run clear of the fire as the Hindenburg settles to the ground. When he gets about 150 feet from the wreckage, he feels his back and his neck getting very hot, and puts his hands over the back of his neck to protect it, and immediately feels the back of his hands beginning to burn. Thinking he is on fire, Bentele throws himself down on his back, only then realizing that the heat is coming not from his coverall, which isn't burning at all, but rather from the radiant heat from the flames devouring the ship behind him. He quickly picks himself up and runs another 500 feet or so, until he is well away from the fire, then turns around to look for any of his fellow crewmates who might have also escaped. At first, he doesn't see anyone. Then gradually others begin to emerge from the smoke and vapours surrounding the now-grounded ship.

Bentele then checks himself over, and realizes that other than the burns on his hands and on the back of his neck, he is almost completely unhurt. He goes off to find the air station's infirmary, as the few burns he had are beginning to hurt quite a bit. When he arrives, he sees how many of the surviving passengers and crew (including Captains Max Pruss and Albert Sammt) are already there waiting, many of them with burns and injuries far more severe than his. Bentele walks over and sits down on a car, trying to gather his thoughts. He realizes that his wife would be incredibly worried when she hears of the disaster, so he goes to the base radio facility and the officer on duty gladly sends a telegram for him. His wife receives the telegram in Walldorf hours later at 6:45 AM Central European Time. She’s listening to the radio broadcast and starts crying of relief.

As word of the disaster spreads throughout the Lakehurst area, ambulances from nearby towns begin to converge on the air station, picking up survivors and taking them to area hospitals. Bentele ends up sharing a ride with a passenger called Joseph Spah, who tells his side of the incident.

STORY 3

On the evening of May 3rd, 1937, all of the Hindenburg's passengers are aboard the ship and they are preparing to cast off, when a taxi screeches up to the hangar and out jumps Joseph Spah (Fassbender) and his pet. Zeppelin company officials quickly but efficiently search Spah and his luggage, as he playfully mocks their efforts. In the midst of Spah's cartoonish, feigned indignance to the thoroughness of the agents' search, one of the officials discovers a beautifully wrapped gift package among Spah's stuff. He hastily unwraps it, revealing an expensive child's doll, which he then proceeds to search. As the official lifts the doll's dress, Spah throws up his hands in mock exasperation, exclaiming "It's a girl, dummkopf!" Finally, the Zeppelin officials load the luggage and the dog onto the ship, Spah climbs aboard, and the Hindenburg takes off more or less on time.

The Hindenburg's flight over the Atlantic passes uneventfully, with the ship fighting headwinds and sailing through pea-soup clouds most of the way, obscuring the passengers' view of the ocean below. Since opportunities for sightseeing are limited, Spah spends much of his time in the ship's bar and smoking room, telling stories and jokes with a number of other passengers. He also takes films of his fellow passengers with the home movie camera he'd brought aboard. Spah also regularly visits his dog in her freight room far to the rear of the ship, in order to feed and walk her.

Two and a half days later, on May 6th, the Hindenburg reaches New York and, after weather-related delays, flies down to Lakehurst to land. Spah's wife Evelyn and their three young children (Gilbert, age 5; Marilyn, age 3, and Richard, age 2) are waiting at the airfield to meet him. He is standing at the forward-most of the Hindenburg’s portside observation windows, along with a number of other passengers as well as most of the Hindenburg'sstewards.

Leaning out of one of the forward-most windows, Spah is taking movies of the landing crew and has just aims his camera at Lakehurst's massive Zeppelin hangar when the hangar starts reflecting an orange glow. It quickly becomes obvious that the Hindenburg is suddenly and inexplicably afire. The whole ship tilts about 45 degrees down by the tail, and Spah manages to hold on to a rail while most of the others slid 15 or 20 feet down the floor to the back wall of the observation deck.

Once the ship begins to descend and level out, Spah hangs out of the nearby window, he lets go once he is about 20 feet above the ground and, his acrobat's instincts kicking in, tries to do a safety roll when he lands. He injures his ankle nonetheless, and is dazedly crawling away when a U.S. sailor, Frederick J. “Bull” Tobin comes up, picks him up under one arm, and runs him out of the fire zone.

After being hauled away from the fire, Spah walks toward the giant airship hangar across the field. On the way, he encounters Herb Morrison, a radio announcer from Chicago who is on the scene to record a description of the Hindenburg's arrival and had gone onto the field to look for survivors. Spah speaks briefly with Morrison, gives him his name and a brief account of his escape, and then moves on toward the visitors' area. Spah founds his family at last over near the airship hangar. His wife notices that he is standing on one foot, and suggests that he have his leg looked at. It is the first time that Spah noticeshis injury. Together, they go to the air station's infirmary where a doctor informs him that he had broken his ankle, and then bandages his foot for him. As they are leaving the dispensary, a nurse calls for anyone who could speak German. Spah says that he can, and the nurse leads him into a nearby room where a terribly burned young crew member lays in a bed. He says his name is Erich Spehl (Bruhl), and he wants to send a telegram to his girlfriend back in Germany. Spah writes down the woman's name and address, and then asks Spehl what he wants to say to her. Spehl replies with a simple two-word message: "Ich lebe." (I live.) Spah tells the young man that he will go and send the telegram right away. As Spah turns to leave the room, however, Erich Spehl dies.

By this time, reporters are swarming all over the air base and a number of them ask Spah for interviews about his escape, but he still feels a dizzy and unwell, so his wife urges him to get proper treatment and he gets a ride to the hospital. He shares the ride with Benkele. The reporters leave them alone as they spot the captain of the ship…

STORY 4

Frankfurt, Germany, May 3, 1937.

Hindenburg begins its last flight carrying 36 passengers and 61 officers, crew members, and trainees. The ship leaves the Frankfurt airfield at 7:16 PM and flies over Cologne, and then crosses the Netherlands before following the English Channel past the chalky cliffs of Beachy Head in southern England, and then heading out over the Atlantic shortly after 2:00 AM the next day. We introduce a few characters, whose faith will be revealed later and engage in a few conversations and night cards games. This is the relaxing part of the film, laid-back, showing good atmosphere, playing some oldies, showing off some beautifully designed costumes and hair styles. We see the daily routine on the ship.

Hindenburg follows a northern track across the ocean, passing the southern tip of Greenland and crossing the North American coast at Newfoundland. We’re focusing on Captain Max Pruss now and as he glances out the windows we see beautifully shot IMAX images. Headwinds delay the airship’s passage across the Atlantic, and the Lakehurst arrival, which scheduled for 6:00 AM on May 6th, and is now postponed to 6:00 PM.

By noon on May 6th the ship reaches Boston, and by 3:00 PM Hindenburg is over the skyscrapers of Manhattan in New York City. We see breath-taking images shot in IMAX again as he ship flies south from New York and arrives at the Naval Air Station at Lakehurst, New Jersey at around 4:15 PM, but the poor weather conditions at the field concern the Hindenburg’s commander, Captain Max Pruss (Waltz), and also Lakehurst’s commanding officer, Charles Rosendahl (Harris), who sends a message to the ship recommending a delay in landing until conditions improve. Captain Pruss departs the Lakehurst area and takes his ship over the beaches and coast of New Jersey to wait out the storm. By 6:00 PM conditions have improved; at 6:12 Rosendahl sends Pruss a message relaying temperature, pressure, visibility, and winds which Rosendahl considers “suitable for landing.” At 6:22 Rosendahl radios Pruss “Recommend landing now,” and at 7:08 Rosendahl sends a message to the ship strongly recommending the “earliest possible landing.”

Hindenburg approaches the field at Lakehurst from the southwest shortly after 7:00 PM at an altitude of approximately 600 feet. Since the wind is from the east, after passing over the field to observe conditions on the ground, Captain Pruss initiates a wide left turn to fly a descending oval pattern around the north and west of the field, to line up for a landing into the wind to the east. While Captain Pruss (who is directing the ship’s heading and engine power settings) brings Hindenburg around the field, First Officer Albert Sammt (Branagh - who is responsible for the ship’s trim and altitude, assisted by Watch Officer Walter Ziegler (Cox) at the gas board and Second Officer Heinrich Bauer at the ballast board), valves 15 seconds of hydrogen along the length of the ship to reduce Hindenburg’s buoyancy in preparation for landing. The gas board is used to valve hydrogen to keep the ship in trim.

As Pruss continues the slow left turn of the oval landing pattern, reducing, and then reversing, the power from the engines, Sammt notices that the ship is heavy in the tail and valves hydrogen from cells 11-16 for a total of 30 seconds, to reduce the buoyancy of the bow and keep the ship in level trim. When this fails to level the ship, Sammt orders three drops of water ballast, totalling 1,100 kg (2,420lbs), from Ring 77 in the tail, and then valves an additional 5 seconds of hydrogen from the forward gas cells. When even these measures cannot keep the ship in level trim, six crewmen are ordered to go forward to add their weight to the bow. While Sammt is working to keep the ship in trim, the wind shifts direction from the east to the southwest. Captain Pruss now needs to land into the wind on a southwest heading, rather than the easterly heading he originally intended when he planned his oval landing pattern. Hindenburg is now close to the landing area, however, and does not have a lot of room to manoeuver before reaching the mooring mast. Anxious to land quickly, before weather conditions can deteriorate, Captain Pruss decides to execute a tight S-turn to change the direction of the ship’s landing; Pruss orders a turn to port to swing out, and then a sharp tight turn to starboard to line up for landing into the wind. This sharp turn overstresses the ship, causing a bracing wire to snap and slash a gas cell, allowing hydrogen to mix with air to form a highly explosive combination. After the S-turn to change the direction of landing, Pruss continues his approach to the mooring mast, adjusting power from the two forward and two rear engines, and at 7:21, with the ship about 180 feet above the ground, the forward landing ropes are dropped.

A few minutes after the landing lines are dropped, R.H. Ward, in charge of the port bow landing party, notices a wave-like fluttering of the outer cover on the port side, between frames 62 and 77, which contains gas cell number 5.It appears as if gas is pushing against the cover, having escaped from a gas cell.

At 7:25 PM, the first visible external flames appear. Several others inside the ship also see the beginning of the fire. Helmut Lau, who is stationed at the auxiliary control stand in the lower fin, hears a muffled detonation and looksup and sees from the starboard side down inside the gas cell a bright reflection on the front bulkhead of cell No. 4.

The bright reflection in the cell is inside. He sees it through the cell. It is at first red and yellow and there is smoke in it. The cell does not burst on the lower side. The cell suddenly disappears by the heat….The fire proceeds further down and then it gets air. The flame becomes very bright and the fire rise up to the side, more to the starboardside and with the flame aluminium parts and fabric parts are thrown up. In that same moment the forward cell and the back cell of cell 4 also catch fire. At that time parts of girders, molten aluminium and fabric parts start to tumble down from the top. The whole thing only last a fraction of a second.

The fire quickly spreads and soon engulfs the tail of the ship, but the ship remains level for a few more seconds before the tail begins to sink and the nose points upward to the sky, with a blowtorch of flame erupting from the bow where twelve crew members are stationed, including the six who are sent forward to keep ship in trim.

In the port and starboard promenades on the passenger decks, where many of the passengers and some of the crew gather to watch the landing, the rapidly increasing angle of the ship causes passengers and crew to tumble against the walls, the furniture, and each other.

The fire spreads so quickly — consuming the ship in less than a minute — that survival is largely a matter of where one happens to be located when the fire breaks out.

Passengers and crew members begin jumping out the promenade windows to escape the burning ship, and most of the passengers and all of the crew who are in the public rooms on A Deck at the time of the fire — close to the promenade windows — do survive. We follow the happenings with CaptainPrusst, who decides to jump when he realizes that the ship is uncontrollable. He survives with severe injuries. Those who are deeper inside the ship, in the passenger cabins at the centre of the decks or the crew spaces along the keel, generally die in the fire.

STORY 5

Back to the time of the landing. One passenger, John Pannes (Platt) is in the dining room when the fire breaks out; he is encouraged to jump by ship’s photographer Karl Otto Clemens, who escapes through one of the windows and survives, Pannes instead leaves the dining room to find his wife Emma (Madsen), who returned to their cabin for her coat. Both die in the fire.

Mr and Mrs Hermann Doehner and their three children (Irene, 16; Walter 10; and Werner, 8 ) are also in the dining room watching the landing, but Mr Doehner (Arkin) leaves before the fire breaks out. Mrs Doehner (Field) and her two young sons jump to safety, but Irene leaves the dining room in search of her father, and both die as a result of the crash.

Given the speed with which Hindenburg burns, survival for the crew is also largely a matter of luck. For that reason we do not want to focus on certain characters to overshadow the story, it’s an ensemble cast, but they all get decent amount of screen time, hence the running time of the movie. The camera moves from one person to another quickly, trying to engage the audience in the chaos. The whole tragedy lasted merely a minute, things happened so quickly, therefore we show the same happenings in different areas of the ship. Those who are close to a means of exit at the time of the fire generally survive, including 9 of the 11 men in the engine cars, and 10 of the 12 men in the control car. Those who are deep inside the ship, such as the electricians in the power room along the keel, or in the smoking room bar on B Deck, or those on the starboard side are generally trapped in the wreck. And the men stationed in the bow — who are exposed to the column of flame that rises through the ship as the bow points skyward — have the least chance; the 9 men who are closest to the front of the ship at the time of the fire all die.

STORY 6

Natural instinct causes those on the ground to run from the burning wreck as fast as they can, but Chief Petty Officer Frederick J. “Bull” Tobin (R. Patrick), a long time airship veteran and an enlisted airship pilot who is in charge of the Navy landing party, cries out to his sailors: “Navy men, Stand fast!!”Bull” Tobin had survived the crash of USS Shenandoah, and he is not about to abandon those in peril on an airship, even if it means his own life. And his sailors agree. The sailors turning and running back toward the burning ship to rescue survivors; uplifting, heroic music fades in, we are witnessing the true courage of the sailors at Lakehurst that day. We see how “Bull” saves Spah’s life and we’re back to the first story.

There are lot of myths and legends regarding the cause of the fire, starting from the outer painting of the ship to sabotage to mechanical failure. We don’t want to get lost in the entangled investigation; we just conclude the result of the German Investigation Commission Report, which ends up with the following conclusion:

“The cause of the accident was the ignition of a mixture of free hydrogen and air. Based upon the evidence, a leak at or in the vicinity of cell 4 and 5 caused a combustible mixture of hydrogen and air to form in the upper stern part of the ship in considerable quantity; the first appearance of an open flame was on the top of the ship and a relatively short distance forward of the upper vertical fin. The theory that a brush discharge ignited such mixture appears most probable.”

A nice, piano piece fades in as we take a look at the remains of the Hindenburg. We glance through the ruins of the ship – it’s all in one shot, beautifully choreographed scene, which concludes in a slow zoom out, which also becomes the last shot of the film.

The screen goes pitch back. Title fades in:

Hindenburg left Frankfurt with 97 souls on board; 62 survived the crash at Lakehurst, although many suffered serious injuries. Thirteen of the 36 passengers, and twenty-two of the 61 crew, died as a result of the crash.

Remember that Spah was filming the passenger’s for fun? Miraculously his films are survived, so we see the original takes, which will make the crowd laugh a little, fitting end to a disaster film that contains lots of drama and sadness. We hear an original song “Above the Clouds” written and performed by Robert Plant.

Elizabeth Banks…Amanda

Dylan Baker…Mark

Michelle Williams…Elizabeth

Plot:

A man named Rick wakes up and he looks at his wife, Amanda. Amanda is beautiful in every way: she's smart, funny, and has a great body. He looks at her for a couple minutes before she wakes up. They start to get ready for the day, talking about how they want to have kids. They both want to have little boys since they're easier. The two go downstairs and Amanda makes both of them breakfast while he turns on the news. After breakfast, they get ready for work and they both leave. Amanda goes to her job as a lawyer and Rick goes to go his job at a bank.

Rick is at the bank and he's going through some paperwork. He's bored out of his mind when his boss comes in and tells him that he needs to see him. Rick goes to his boss' office. The boss tells Rick that the boss is leaving this branch of the bank. The boss has just been promoted and he's making Rick the new manager of the branch. This makes Rick happy and he wants to tell his wife. He tells his boss that he's going to go to lunch with his wife to tell him the good news. The boss smiles and states that he's sure that she'll be happy.

Rick goes to Amanda's law firm only to have her secretary tell him that she isn't there. He asks if she's at court and the secretary states that she isn't. He asks the secretary where his wife is and the secretary quickly states that she is in court after all. Rick doesn't believe her and asks if he can wait in his wife's office. The secretary decides that's fine and lets him in. Rick enters the office and he's left alone. He sits down on the couch and starts to text his wife to come to him. In the middle of the text, there's a sound on her computer. Rick decides to go investigate the sound and discovers it's just an e-mail. He's going to go back to the chair when he notices a single odd e-mail entitled: “Plans for Your Trip”. He doesn't know anything about any trip and he opens it. It's from a travel agency that's confirming a romantic getaway between Amanda and someone else. The other person's name isn't on the e-mail. Rick is a bit confused since they're not planning any trips.

Rick clicks on the last e-mail that was open before he entered the office and went back to the chair. Within a few minutes, his wife is back. She looks like she had just cleaned up a bit. Rick tells her that he's hoping to have lunch with Amanda. Amanda is hesitant to say yes but she does anyways. The two go to a nice restaurant. Rick tells her the happy news and Amanda is excited that he got a promotion. She states that it's going to be nice. He then asks her if there's anything she wants to tell him. She says that there actually is. The firm is sending her on a trip to represent a client in a different state. The dates happen to coincide with the ones on the romantic getaway. Rick doesn't press the issue but he's secretly seething. Amanda notices something is off but she doesn't bring it up.

Rick goes back to work and as he's there, his mind starts to panic. He starts to google the following: How to know if your wife is cheating on you. He finds a link that gives him the following five hints that his wife is cheating on him. The first hint comes up on the frame in big, white letters:

    [*]

    SHE'S NO LONGER AS NEEDY

Rick decides to test this out. He goes home and waits her to get there. While he's waiting, he's reading the book “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. Amanda gets home and he puts the book down. He takes out his credit card and offers to take her shopping. She tries to come up with an excuse that she needs to catch up with work and there's a big day at court the next day. He acts surprised that she would actually pass up on a chance to go shopping. Amanda is convinced that she might as well. Before they leave, she sends a text message to someone when Rick doesn't think she's looking.

They go to the shopping mall. Rick tries to get her to spend time at each store but she refuses to shop for a significant period of time. She seems to be more interested in getting away as soon as possible. They eventually go to her favorite store. She only looks at a couple of items before she wants to leave. Rick finds this is strange. He brings it that she loves looking at items in this store. He recounts a time he went to this store with her and they left after 6 hours without having bought a single thing. Amanda states that she simply isn't in the mood to shop. She then throws up. It turns out that the reason she hadn't wanted to go to the store was because she's sick. Why is she sick? She's gotten pregnant! She was hoping to tell Rick that evening in dinner. Rick forces her to go to the hospital and they stay there for a couple of hours-turns out it was nothing serious. Now Rick is worried not only that she's having an affair, but that the baby isn't even his.

The second tip comes up:

    [*]

    SHE NO LONGER GETS ANGRY

It's been a week and Rick's mind hasn't been settled. He's driving home and he passes an advertisement for Marvel toys-the most prominent being the Hulk. He decides that he's going to do her best to annoy her. He calls his best friend, Mark. Mark also works at Amanda's law firm. Rick asks him if they're willing to have dinner that night at Rick's place. Mark asks his own wife, Elizabeth, and they both agree to go. Rick is happy and he gets home. His wife, Amanda, is already there. Rick tells Amanda that he's invited over Mark and Elizabeth to eat with them for dinner. Amanda is a bit surprised because she hasn't prepared to have any company over that night. This would normally set her off. If anything, it simply panics her a bit. Mark finds this to be a bit strange.

In the end, there is dinner waiting for Mark and Elizabeth for when they arrive. The two get home and they immediately make themselves feel at home. It's obvious that they're really good friends with Rick and Amanda. The four of them seem to be having a good time but Mark and Amanda also seem a bit preoccupied. This causes Rick to get suspicious. Rick decides to push a button. He starts talking about how Mark would never betray him and how Mark is his best friend. He's halfway through stating that Mark would never keep anything from him when Amanda interrupts him. She and Mark go to the kitchen for some privacy. In the end they come up and they reveal that they had no idea how Rick found out. They state that it was meant to be a surprise for later but they decide to reveal it now: Mark has just been made senior partner. After this, the two seem a bit more relaxed but not completely. Rick wonders if the other man is his best friend.

The third tip comes up:

    [*]

    SHE'S BEING SECRETIVE

Rick is at home watching “Alias” but he's really thinking about his wife's potential affair. It's the next night and he decides for a plan. The very next morning, he pretends to be sick to his wife. He also calls in sick for work. When she leaves, he starts to tail and follow her. He tries his best to not remain visible. She goes to her law firm. He takes out a pair of binoculars that he happens to have and uses them to spy on her office. For the most part it's business as usual, but every now and then she seems to be in a conversation on the phone where she faces away from the door. This doesn't seem like much, but for Rick it's a lot to go on. She eventually goes to the courthouse to represent a patient and he follows her there. She's not going in her own car but in Mark's car. They're both on the same case but Rick's mind doesn't necessarily see it that way.

After Mark and Amanda leave the court, Rick follows them. They go to a motel room. This seems very suspicious after all! The two leave after an hour and they head back to the law firm. Rick has no idea what they did in there but he has a pretty good idea. He doesn't follow them back but he does go to the motel manager. He manages to bribe himself some info: the motel manager tells them that they have been coming everyday for a few months now. They keep visiting one of the people in the hotel room. Rick asks who and the motel manager asks for more money. Rick gives it to him. The motel manager reveals that it's apparently a guy named Sam Fisher. Rick recognizes the last name Fisher because that's Mark's last name. Rick goes to the motel room and discovers that Sam is Mark's father. Rick tries to talk to him but discovers that the old man has a mental problem. The old man is under the impression that Mark is sleeping with Amanda but he also thinks that they live on the moon. Rick leaves the motel room wondering if he can trust Sam.

The fourth tip comes up:

    [*]

SHE PLACES THE FOCUS ON YOU

Rick drives back home and he's out of focus for the entire drive. As soon as he arrives home, the camera focuses on his face. He practically knows now every detail of what his wife did. When she arrives home, he asks her how her day was. She's more interested to know if he's feeling better. He tries to get the conversation back on her but she keeps deflecting back to him. When she asks him about what he did all day, Rick tries to come up with some explanations. He pretends to have finished his book, to have seen the rest of the Alias season, and to have eaten chicken soup. He claims to be feeling better and that he's really interested in her day. She doesn't really want to talk about it. She apparently didn't do that well in court.

He asks her if court was all she did that day. She tries to avoid the question but she eventually reveals the truth. She and Mark have been representing Mark's father in court. It turns out that he was on medicine that was supposed to help with his memory but has only made him insane. They have been spending time with him in the hopes that in the lucid moments he'll be able to help them better. She starts to emotionally break down because the case has been emotionally tough on her and Mark. She does reveal that the case has managed to create a bond that wasn't there before. Rick wonders if the case is the reason she started to sleep with his best friend.

The final tip comes up:

    [*]

    SHE SHOWERS YOU WITH PLEASURES

The very next morning Rick wakes up. The following song is playing:

It's the weekend and Amanda has already made him breakfast. He has it in bed and she keeps talking about how she's willing to do anything. She wants to spend the day around activities that she likes. She even offers to sleep with him before she starts showing or anything. She seems a bit guilty. Rick thinks it's because she's having an affair. He finishes the breakfast and he goes to get ready. When they're both ready, the two spend the entire day together doing things that Rick likes and Amanda generally finds to be dull. She doesn't complain a single time.

They go back home and she tells him that she has something she's been meaning to confess. She tells him that she doesn't actually have a business trip. Rick states that he knows about the romantic getaway. This surprises Amanda. Rick states she doesn't have to tell him anything more. At this point, he just snaps. He gets a bat from the closet and he starts to beat her to death. She tries to protect herself but he simply doesn't stop. When she's finally dead, Rick calls Mark to come over alone. He simply sits there and watches, looking at the wife of his dead body.

Mark comes and Rick opens the door. As soon as Mark comes in, Rick shuts the door. Mark notices the dead body and immediately starts to freak. Before he can do anything, Rick hits him over the head and then bashes his skull in. Rick looks at the dead bodies and is satisfied. He decides he has to get rid of them. He goes over to his wife's body and turns her over. He notices an envelope in her pocket. He takes out the envelope and he notices two airplane tickets: one is meant for her and one is meant for him. The Pleasure song finally ends.

The credits rolls.

Plot

Ratchet is a Lombax mechanic presently residing on the Apogee Space Station in the Polaris Galaxy from the planet Veldin, and his sidekick is a robot called Clank, who was created by a malfunctioned machine.

After presenting the characters and the place where they live, the story takes off with Ratchet and Clank receiving a desperate call for help from Captain Qwark, which they respond to. They find that a large army of robotic commandos have laid a full-scale assault on the capital city, led by Emperor Percival Tachyon, crown prince of the Cragmites. Ratchet laughs at Tachyon because of his first name Percival. Tachyon reveals that he is after Ratchet, the last Lombax in the galaxy and wants to kill him because he is driven by hate for the Lombaxs; outnumbered and overpowered, Ratchet and Clank flee. The two decide they must learn more about Tachyon and begin to search the Polaris galaxy for answers.

During their investigation, Clank is visited by small robots called the Zoni that only he can see; the Zoni upgrade Clank and tell him that he is special, and that he must help Ratchet make a difficult choice in their current adventure. The duo also acquire the aid of Talwyn Apogee, the daughter of Max Apogee, a famous explorer who collected artifacts from the Lombax culture before he mysteriously disappeared.

As they travel from planet to planet, they learn from allies that during the Great War long ago, the Lombaxes had wiped out all of the Cragmites, and were considered heroes of the universe. Exactly how the Lombaxes had done so, however, was unknown, and that had become known as the Lombax Secret. Ratchet learns of the abandoned home planet of the Lombaxes, Planet Fastoon, and goes there to learn of the Lombax Secret, revealed to be the "Dimensionator", a helmet that is able to open wormholes to other dimensions. The Lombax had used it to banish all the Cragmites to an alternate dimension, except for one; Tachyon was found as an egg after the Great War, and was raised by the Lombaxes as revealed by the Iris supercomputer that was on the same planet Tachyon was on; after learning what the Lombaxes had done to his species, he launched an all-out attack on Fastoon.

The Lombaxes realized that the best solution was to send themselves to another dimension with the Dimensionator, attempting to fool Tachyon that he had destroyed the race, though two were left behind: the Guardian of the Dimensionator and his son. Tachyon reveals that he ended up killing the Guardian but not before he could send his son to the Solana galaxy, and that Ratchet is that son.

Recognizing that Tachyon plans to use the Dimensionator to bring back the Cragmites from banishment, Ratchet and Clank recover it first, but Captain Qwark shows up and tries to destroy it himself; the blunder allows Tachyon to recover the device. As the duo confront Tachyon with his assembled army on Fastoon, which Tachyon plans to remake as the new Cragmite homeworld, Tachyon tempts Ratchet by opening a wormhole to the dimension where the Lombaxes now live, but, with help from Clank's advice based on the Zonis' warnings, Ratchet recognizes he must stop Tachyon completely, or else the Cragmites will not only control this dimension but also the Lombax's dimension.

Ratchet and Clank fight Tachyon, and are able to get the better of him. The Dimensionator is damaged during the battle, opening a black hole that Tachyon falls into, and while Ratchet and Clank are able to flee with the use of a 334 cubits hexagonal washer given to them by the plumber, the device becomes irreparable.

Ratchet and Clank and their allies gather to celebrate the victory over Tachyon and the salvation of the galaxy.

AFTER CREDITS SCENE

Clank never talked with the Zoni again, but they still observe it from the shadows. His reasons are yet to be revealed.

Not knowing what to do, Chris goes out and sits on a table at a coffee shop without knowing what to do, because he doesn't have a job and do not want to spend more money in search of treasures that doesn't exist.

A strange girl watches him from afar. She approaches Chris and sits at the same table. The girl presents herself as Katie Williams (25 years), and says she knows what Chris does and needs his help to make the greatest discovery in human history. Chris refuses, and the girl is disappointed, but leaves the phone number and promises that awaits a treasure there, and they would become famous and rich if they can make this discovery.

Chris returns home and continues to think about it, until he decides to call the girl and tells here to prepare the trip. The film cuts to the villain, Paul Jones (33 years). He knows about this place and wants to find it. Paul is warned by one of his employees that Katie asked Chris to help her find the island, and he demands that Chris and Katie continue to be monitored.

In the morning, Chris meets with Katie at the port. She shows him a map she found in his great-grandfather's things and reveals the location of the treasure. The location is in the middle of the sea. The two go in search of the treasure in the boat of the girl.

Near the location, the sea begins to become more agitated, making the arrival of the protagonists to the island a very hard task. When docked on the island, the sunset is near and Chris decides it's best to stay in the boat and started to investigate the island in the morning.

However, Katie leaves the boat after Chris falling asleep with a flashlight. The island has plenty of forests and caves, and Katie thinks about camping there for the next few days they may explore the island without having to always go back to the boat. Katie goes a little more into the woods and discovers that the sea crosses the island, so there is a separation with only one bridge connecting both parts os the island.

In the morning, Chris wake up and Katie is not present on the boat. Chris rushes to dress up and runs to the island. He finds Katie returning and tells her to never disappear again, because they don't know what dangers the island hides.

The two return to the island and are shocked when they discover the existence of dinosaurs. Katie wants to run away but Chris says to wait, because those were herbivorous and would not attack. Later, Chris asks Katie for an explanation on what is happening. Katie explains that his great-grandfather spoke to her of an island he heard about, that was nothing like the human race has ever seen, but she never really thought it was true.

Chris asks for treasure. She says that the great-grandfather spoke of a sacred tablet, made in gold, and that kept the life in the island possible. Katie says she does not know anything more and Chris doesn't ask more questions.

Paul Jones finds them in the boat. The villain turns out to be the older brother of Katie. He also knew about great-grandfather's stories, and dreamed to find the map that would lead him to the treasure and become rich and famous. However, Paul reveals that a few years before Katie ran away, taking the map with her, because they discussed about the island. Katie just wanted to witness how life was possible in a place like this and what creatures lived there, while Paul just wanted to find the sacred tablet, which when removed would destroy the island.

Paul doesn't believe in the legends, and says nothing will happen to the island. Chris asks Paul how did he find them. Paul reveals that one of his men placed a tracking device on the boat, and that he always knew where they were.

Paul leaves the boat with two of his men, leaving the other to watch the protagonists. Katie manages to distract the man and Chris throws him overboard. Together, Katie and Chris decide to go after Paul.

Paul moves slowly and carefully to the other side of the island, sighting various dinosaurs. Velociraptors observe through the trees the movements of Paul and his men. Chris and Katie decide to follow him through the bridge that connects the two sides of the island.

Paul thinks that the treasure is in the most remote and hidden place of the island, until he finds a mysterious cave. Inside, Paul finds a sea of gold coins, and a tablet at the center of it, with something written in the ancient language. At the same time that Paul takes the tablet, Chris and Katie arrive and try to stop him, but Paul's men don't let them do that.

Three Velociraptors appear and attack one of Paul's men. Paul runs away and Chris and Katie pursue him. Suddenly, an earthquake begins and the island starts to collapse. Chris thinks that the tablet was made to make the island float over water. Without it, the island would sink.

The Velociraptors continue to pursue them and the Paul's last man is caught. When one Velociraptor jumps to catch Katie, Chris pushes her to the ground. Paul is also attacked, but he is saved by a falling tree that hits the Velociraptor.

Paul falls and drops the tablet. Chris catches it and wants to put it back in place, but Katie does not let him do that. Katie does not want to leave Paul behind, and Chris helps Paul getting up and the three start to run. When they get there, some dinosaurs of the sea (elasmosaurus and mosasaurs) are destroying it.

Behind them, when the last Velociraptor attacks, a T-Rex catches it with his mouth, and gives Chris and the others a few more minutes of life. Chris, katie and Paul run to the helicopter Paul used to get to the island while being chased by the T-Rex. Pieces of the island began to crumble. And the T-Rex falls overboard.

The trio manages to escape in the helicopter and Paul apologizes for his actions. Chris and Katie forgive him. Katie looks through the window and sees a gigantic wave destroying the rest of what was left from the island. Chris says to Katie that more places like this probably exist and that he has to analize what is written in the tablet.

In the end, we hear Chris talking about the big adventure he had, while we see some images of Chris and Katie donating the tablet to a museum and Katie going back to live with his brother while Chris can now pay is debts and keep the house. Chris talks about what was written in the tablet, and that we will discover soon what it was. Credits roll.

Rise of the Dead

"A New Era Begins"

Date- January 23rd, 5

Genre- Zombie Horror/Action

Rating- R

Theaters- 3,555 theaters

Budget- 90 million

Running Time- 119 minutes or 1 hours and 59 minutes

Studio- O$corp Productions

Director- John Moore

Cast: Dr. Robert Twombly: Chris Evans

(There are massive visual shots of the global zombie take over thus a higher budget but more epic feel and picture)

Plot: A short prologue explains the notes and images being shown. They were those of a young scientist named Dr. Robert Twombly and were found in a remote cabin in the township of Churchill, Manitoba. The notes detail an individual account of survival and escape after a mass-scale zombie outbreak, referred to as a ‘Necrotic Infection’, beginning around January 23, 2013 and lasting for approximately one year.

Rise of the Dead

Dr. Twombly, a haematology and oncology specialist in Seattle, Washington decides to keep a journal detailing events from January 1 until April 5, 2013. We see that he writes about his discoveries in science and life. However on January 23 a pandemic of unknown cause overwhelms the entire city and much of the world beyond. The people in Seattle begin to panic and sack stores and chaos prevails. Panic over a technological collapse makes things worse. Before the internet shut down, headlines referring to a sudden, critical infection affecting thousands worldwide show the scale of the unfolding catastrophe, destroying commerce and limiting travel. We see this catastrophe occur. Death sweeps the globe. The Vatican is sacked and destroyed, the Statue of Liberity collapses under the weight of zombies climbing it, London, Paris, Moscow, African slums, and Asian over-populated cities are all seen being taken over by the undead. We even see Mecca with thousands of believers being attacked and destroyed. Technology collapses and the world goes dark. Twombly takes shelter in his brick fortified building complex. The secure building is beleaguered by thousands, however soon most begin to show identical symptoms of an unknown, seemingly undetectable pathogen. As the sick begin to die they quickly reanimate, walking slowly, attempting to devour those around them still alive, and – to varying extents – exhibiting some behavior of their previous existences (one bashes a vending machine as he did when he was alive, and later a married couple – now zombies – hold hands as they walk). Capturing a few, Twombly and other scientists run tests on the zombies. While tests confirm that the reanimated ‘zombies’ are clinically-dead, they discover the limitations and strengths of the undead. Meeting other survivors, and after witnessing an infection and reanimation first-hand, Twombly makes his way northward. People start dying not because of zombies but because they don't know how to live without technology. Twombly despite the challenges decides to investegate the cause of the apocalypse. His initial suspicions relating to a new GM food additive made by chemical company Primodyne are explored, although evidence relating to its accumulated toxicity is inconclusive, although its sudden prevalence and bio-accumulative effect does provide a logical explanation for the speed of the global infection, as well as the infection occasionally affecting individuals who have not come into direct contact with the zombies. Twombly spends much time on a small, isolated bucolic inn called ‘the Farm’ with nineteen other survivors, although eventually he is forced to move even further northward after the Farm is overrun by zombies and burned down. Finally, he finds the town of Churchill, Manitoba where nobody has had any interaction with the infected. After several weeks the threat is apparently subsiding, with the town secure and partially fortified. On April 5, 2013, he writes that he thinks the world will be at peace soon. The zombies will die out and humans will once again take over the earth. He says that the town is secure and can last several years because on fishing and hunting. Man is learning to live without technology. As he closes his journal, we suddenly hear screams and guns shooting in the back ground. The camera zooms out over Churchill and we see a swarm of zombies heading through the main gate of the city.

The fate of the world lies at stake as a disastrous solar flare sets its path on Earth.

Darkness. Suddenly, a blast of energy and light, a swirling concoction of cosmic matter, expanding to form the universe. The first few minutes of the film take us through this formation. We witness the breathtaking beauty of star cluster formations, constellations, stars, all forming before us in the hectic expansion of the universe. Then we see a galaxy forming, gravity pulling toward a sun. The imagery is fantastic as we witness a planet forming, the constant chaos of asteroid collisions, the long process of planetary formation. It is a molten world, and we witness the millions of years of formation that it takes to bring that world to an equilibrium, of terrible volcanic eruptions and poisonous gas clouds. Finally oceans form, and then we witness bacteria growing, evolving into life. Single-celled becomes multicellular becomes complex lifeforms. Fish, amphibians, the first terrestrial organisms. The beauty is astounding as we witness those organisms morph into dinosaurs. An exciting T-rex chase through a thick jungle, wild dinosaur life abounding, a violent kill. A meteor collision; an ice age. De-evolution. A barren waste world, and then...a renaissance of life. Mammoths, hominids, the first cavemen, humans. A long migration from Africa; the first homo sapiens. Travel by boat to Australia, through the cold Euroasian world. Conflict with neanderthals, the extinction of the mammoth. Rise of civilization. The great Mesopotamia, the pyramids of Egypt being constructed, the wonders of the ancient world; Greece and Rome. Jesus is placed on a cross and people stand looking at the hill as the sun sets. The fall of the Roman Empire. The Crusades. Black Death and the Renaissance, portraying the beauty of the Vatican and other majestic Middle Age cities. Columbus discovers America, the elimination of the Native Americans, rise of the Spanish Empire. The American Revolution becomes World War II; blitzkrieg is waged in a ghastly portrayal of man's destructiveness; and the dropping of the a-bomb on Hiroshima in vivid detail. Kennedy on the Cuban Missile Crisis. A plane impacts the South Tower on TV, with the sounds of surprised spectators. And suddenly it becomes new images, things not yet happening, of wars. Media label it World War III. Chaos. A nuclear fall-out. America has been reduced to a tenth of its former glory. America is divided. A civil war is brewing in America. (8 mins)

And the camera takes us away from a podium where a 10-starred American flag wavers (we can assume the President was about to make a speech) and instead angles off to the sun, beating down bright in the sky.

There is a planet very close to a star. The planet appears stationary. One end of the planet is constantly facing the sun. From an external view it looks covered with molten lava. The other end looks like it is constantly covered with horrendous ice storms. The camera scrolls down through those storms until we reach a middle zone, a moderate zone between the two. The winds are shrill, but there is a construction there. As the camera gets closer to a pair of metal doors, it becomes instead a ceiling and there's heavy breathing, and then we realize we're looking out of a man's eyes. He leans up and we're now out of his eyes to see he is a young, good looking man just waking, alone in his bed. There's a knock on the door, and another man pokes his head in. “We have to be at the convention in 30 minutes, sir,” he says, and the man in bed says he'll get ready but as he's getting dressed he says he hates those things.

Now he's in a car riding through a city, which looks pretty modern but polluted beyond belief. The other man is trying to get him to rehearse his lines, calling him Shane. Shane has shades on and says he just wants to sleep, but the other man (Maurey) keeps pushing him to rehearse his lines. Shane makes a half-assed attempt, “blahing” some of the words, skipping over the script, until Maurey says to forget about it and slumps back in the limo. Shane gazes out the window, and now we see the city outside. Hobos walk along the streets, cars clog up the interstate, and a panoramic shot shows us that the city is humongous (much larger than New York) and that there is a terrible amount of smog. It looks like heat radiating in a desert. Shane says they really need to do something about all these poor people, but Maurey says right now he just had to focus on his re-election campaign. He says this other guy was getting a lot of support from the northern states, and Shane (who we now can infer is the incumbent President) says the northerners haven't turned out to the elections since Luther in 2020. Maurey just reiterates the importance of this speech.

They make it to a convention center with paparazzi surrounding the entrance as the presidential motorcade rolls in. Thousands of spectators watch, but someone throws a brick at the limo. There is a sudden chaos outside while Shane gets pushed to the floor, and outside we hear gunshots. Muarey asks if Shane's alright, and Shane says he suspects it's another disgruntled “fan” of his retirement bill, trying to make a joke. They pull up and in his studio Shane is being pampered, but he's not really paying it much attention and flirting with the woman doing his make-up while joking about the way he looks. She just calls him Mr. President every time, blushing at his comments. Maurey tells him when he's through that he's quite the bachelor, and Shane reminds him that he is the youngest president in American history. He just hasn't found the right person yet.

Some time later, a reporter is going over the details of the convention and talks about the assault on President Daniels' motorcade earlier that afternoon. In the wait, while we hear voiceovers from reporters on the excitement of the debate, we're taken to the crowd where we see varying people talk about their opinions on President Daniels, and on talk of “the war”. We learn a lot of gossip, but then we're taken back to Daniels, drinking a glass of Scotch and watching from a vantage point at the hungry mob below. He says they look ready to pick his bones if he screws up just once, and Maurey tells him that it's important he get the war issue out there, let them know what side he's on. Shane says he's not entirely certain he is on the side for winning this war; let those rebels have what they want. The rest of the country rebelled a long time ago anyways, why not let those last 3 states leave also.

Finally, it's time for the speech. Daniels takes the podium after a nice introduction and cheers, and he thanks them and opens with a joke. As he starts his speech, discussing the importance of the war, there is suddenly a loud scream in the crowd, and all attention is drawn to a little girl hovering over her mom, whose skin looks baked. She has fainted on the ground. There's chaos now, and Daniels is forced to get off the stage as Secret Service lead him back to the motorcade. Once in the car, he shouts angrily about how this same thing happened to those people on the streets last week. They receive confirmation that the woman who collapsed was dead. Shane asks how she died, and Maurey says they think it was heat stroke. The camera points up to the blaring sun.

And back down on a city quarter, more like a suburban district. Church bells ring. Kids are being walked to school, a few cars pass. And we're taken to a window where a woman stares out with a blank expression on her face. Her eyes are red-rimmed. She stands there for some time, looking at the kids in the street, then she draws the blinds and creeps over to her bed, where she curls up in a ball.

Adam is hustling through a busy city trying to get back home. He's speaking with a co-worker about how his wife's pregnant and he had to run out to get her some things, and he forgot until the last minute, and now he's stuck in terrible rush hour traffic. They ride a subway (it looks futuristic and almost like it flies because the beams are thin and almost transparent) above ground through the convoluted city. Finally, Adam gets to his district and rushes home on foot. When he gets to his door, he pushes it open and announces that he's home, apologizing for being late while he sets things down. His wife never answers, so he asks if she's alright, then finds her curled up in bed. “Eve? What's wrong?” He rushes to her side and tries comforting her, asking what's wrong, but she doesn't talk. He says he got the stuff she needed, and she says it doesn't matter anymore. Adam curls up next to her and holds her tightly, and he says they can try again next month.

Eve's voice starts narrating. She says it was really unexpected that she and Adam fell in love. We're taken back to earlier years, where two teens meet and fall in love. A montage shows their times spent together in college, of war protests, a date skinny-dippin that leads to love-making. Adam proposes. Eve's narration describes that it was a strange match: Adam and Eve, like out of the Bible. People always said that. Then we go back to silent scenes, footage as from family cameras depicting Adam and Eve and they are having a blast with some kid, but then we find out the kid's just a friend's kid. Adam and Eve want their own kid. Eve finds out she's pregnant. Then later she learns of a miscarriage. The emotional havoc is devastating to both but they try again. We find Eve on the toilet some time later, and blood is leaking down her leg while she cries. Soft words start permeating through this silent montage, like whispers from Adam telling Eve how much he loves her, but the words don't come from the characters in the montage...it's like from the past, just echoing through the footage. Eve's voice whispers back, and we know it's some conversation from when they first met, because they sound younger and in love. The whispers end on a happy note, but the montage ends on a sad one, showing Eve looking at children coming out of a school, a sad expression on her face.

Eve is working out with a friend at the local gym. As they're exercising, the friend tells Eve that Jerry was enlisted now. She's a bit nervous-sounding. Eve says she thinks this war is just really awful. She says they've had enough fighting. Her friend asks if Adam has been sent to training yet, and Eve says she hopes he doesn't get sent. They haven't chosen him yet. He's just a recruiter anyways. She doesn't think they'll need him.

Later as Eve is walking home, she notices it is very hot. People are sweating really bad and one old man looks like he's going to have a stroke. Eve helps carry him into the shade while he's panting. She sits him down on a park bench and asks him if he's alright, then she shouts for someone to call 911. People rush over as the old man passes out in Eve's arms.

Eve is inspecting herself in the mirror. She has really bad sunburn. She's naked but the camera doesn't show her nipples or below, but it does show her ass. Adam comes home and he has a gift for Eve. She dresses before he can see her sunburn. Adam gives her a three-piece heart locket. One side has her face, one his, and the other is still empty. Eve asks who goes there, and Adam says that's where their son or daughter will go. Eve says she doesn't know if she can go through that again, but Adam says he has a good feeling about this time. He says he wants to go out first, and he has a nice silver dress for her.

Adam and Eve go out to a fancy restaurant that night. Adam says he doesn't want to focus on anything but her, and he asks how her day went. She tells him about the incident in the park, and Adam says that he's sorry she had to see that, and he wonders what's up with this excessive heat. Eve says she thinks it's some kind of global warning. But Adam says he wants to get back on the topic of them, and over champagne and supper, he breaks the news. He says that he's being shipped out to training next week. Eve doesn't respond but Adam seems eager about it, saying he never thought they'd pick him for this. Finally he notices Eve isn't speaking and asks what's wrong, and she asks how he expects her to bear a child if he's off fighting in the war. Adam apologizes; he says he just wants to make her happy and knows the only thing that will please her is a child. He also says that he'll only be gone for 6 months, so he'll be back in time to see his son or daughter's birth. Eve still looks upset, but Adam tries to calm her down.

They have a night back at home dancing to some operatic music. They drink more champagne, “To us,” Adam says. “To us,” Eve repeats, not quite so enthused. They proceed to having sex, but Eve just stares up at the ceiling the whole time, and a tear rolls down her cheek. Some morning later, Eve wakes up to find Adam putting on his uniform. It's 5:00 in the morning. She asks if he's going already. Adam says he has to be there by 7:00 to report for training. He tells Eve he loves her and he'll call every day. Eve doesn't talk, but Adam kisses her. He promises he'll be home soon. Eve asks if she can drive him to the station. Adam says he didn't think she'd want to, but Eve says she wants to make sure he gets there safe. So she drives him. They reach a train-like station, but when they step on it with all the other people, many of them soldiers, the platform elevates, lifting into the sky. The sun is just rising. Eve grabs Adam's hand, and he looks her in the eye. She gives a weak smile. The platform comes to a stop in the sky, and a large ship-like zeppelin is there, levitating in the air. People are bidding each other farewell, tearfull goodbyes. Eve tells Adam to just go. She says she doesn't think she can bear watching him leave. They have a long, tender kiss, and then he parts, telling her that he'll be home in time to see the baby being born. She closes her eyes, and Adam waves goodbye as he and the other soldiers get on the ship-zeppelin and it flies off toward the rising sun.

Cameras flash and vibrant light beams shine in a multitude of colors. Zeppelins with giant screens depicting the crowds, scenes from the war, and coverage of the two presidential candidates hover in the sky over the city. It is night and we hear lots of chatter, various news reporters talking on where the two candidates stand. A lot of mixed views on “the youngest man to hold the Oval Office”, some very positive, some criticizing him for letting the country get so deep in a civil war. Then we're taken to President Daniels prepping up for the debate. Maurey's going over Sheppard's debate strategy, but Shane doesn't seem too worried about it. He tells Maurey he knows what he's doing; that's why the people elected him once, and that's why they'll do it again. Maurey indicates that Sheppard is a much tougher competitor than at the last election, but Shane promises him he's got this. Maurey reminds him to stick to the rehearsals, and Shane makes a wise-crack comment that makes Maurey fear he may have lost his mind.

As the debate starts, the crowd goes wild with both cheers and boos for the two candidates, who greet each other. Sheppard is a much older man, but good-looking, and as he's shaking Daniels' hand, he makes a crude joke about Daniels being too young to be the president, suggesting he has been ineffective, and Shane looks displeased. The debate begins, and we cut through it, but we get a bit where Sheppard is really grilling Daniels, who looks uncomfortable and uncertain. It's on this heat issue, and the public seems strongly to side with Sheppard, who is cracking down on Daniels with unrelenting force. Shane tries to ease the issue off, promising that his administration is doing what it can to keep America a safe place for all its citizens, but there are cries of dispute and displeasure.

Afterwards, Maurey storms into Daniels' changing room and says that the debate was a giant mistake. Shane says he thought they did pretty good up until that heat issue, and he even didn't do too bad on the war, but Maurey said it was a disaster and that the reviews indicate Sheppard wiped Daniels' ass. Shane tries acting unconcerned, but it starts getting to him, and he loses his cool with Maurey, swearing and saying he was trying his best, but it was hard to keep the public at bay about this damn issue while trying to fight a war that he wasn't certain was necessary. Maurey can't respond, and Shane says he thinks maybe it's time to see what progress they've made on the experiment. Maurey said they'll go in the morning to The Island and check it out.

Shane and Maurey are crammed into a spherical elevator-like pod with some of the White House staff. The pod rises gradually into the air and seems to be suspending by itself now, traveling up into the sky while golden sunlight radiates off the windows. Inside, Maurey is briefing Shane on the latest news from The Island. Suddenly, they come upon a platform, in the sky, covered in grass. It's like the platforms at the zeppelin station, only this one is anchored permanently in the sky and has artificial plant life and a facility established there, with dome-shaped buildings. They land at the pod base and are lead to the central dome, where they are taken to a conference room with the supervisor. He says he has some grave news. It appears that the projections were not looking good. They were working as well as they could to help mend the “hole in the atmosphere”, but their efforts weren't going so well so far. The amount of ozone depletion was severe. The supervisor fears that excessive nuclear warfare has thinned the atmosphere of ozone and that the UV penetration is going to get increasingly severe. Shane appears quite solemn, but he asks to see the progress. They go on a tour, with giant magnifying panels displaying the breathtaking sky, but we can see that here it looks much thinner, the sun much brighter. Temperatures are measured and amount of radiation is through-the-roof. In some parts of the facility they must wear protective suits to avoid the radiation from the sun and the toxins in the atmosphere. The supervisor goes over all the details and confesses that he fears their outlook for recovery is quite bleak. Mankind has brought Mother Nature to her knees.

The screen is split in two. One half is labeled Eve, the other half Adam. A montage shows events in the two distant lovers' lives over the next few months. Eve's shows her finding out she's pregnant. She goes to the doctor for check-ups. Her womb grows and it seems likely she's going to have the baby this time. Adam goes through training, and several clips show his training unfold on the right side of the screen. A pregnant Eve goes to church and prays every day that her baby will be born healthy and that Adam will be brought home alive. The priest seems very kind to her and recognizes her by name now, and he tells her that God will be certain to give her a healthy baby. Adam goes to ship-out, and he rides with other soldiers on a zeppelin over brilliant plains and wooded areas. Later, they have camp on a cliff overlooking woods. The sounds of distant fighting echo as Adam sets up his tent. Eve's womb keeps growing, and Adam goes into battle. A zeppelin carrying soldiers is flying overhead when suddenly a missile hits it and it explodes in a brilliant firework display in the sky. Debris rains down and gunfire rains down on Adam's group. Compounding this, Eve's water breaks while she's in church praying. The priest rushes over to help her while on Adam's screen, we see Adam's friend get shot down before his eyes, and Adam carries him to safety, then watches him die while Eve's baby is born.

There's crying in a dimly-lit room. Eve stands in the corridor looking in through the glass panel at her baby in the room beyond. She smiles and laughs when she hears her baby's low cry. Her eyes are full of tears, and we can see that she's really excited about this, but the excitement is making her cry. Suddenly, a face appears next to hers, and it's the priest. He tells her that he knew she would have her baby this time. In her excitement, she hugs him and kisses him on his cheek. She says she thinks God must have heard her prayers for once. He says God always does.

A barren countryside, with smoke rising from holes in the ground. Adam stands overlooking it all. Gunshots ring distantly. Adam and a group of soldiers spread out across the barren countryside. There are torn bodies, some still alive, wailing for mercy all around. One of Adam's comrades shoots a wounded man in the head to put him out of his misery. Adam finds a boy lying on the ground and goes to his side. He's still alive, but barely. Adam asks him his name and he says it's George. Adam gives him some water and asks how old he is. He's 6. Adam comforts George as he dies there. When another soldier, Tristan, approaches, Adam asks what the boy was doing on the battlefield. Tristan says it wasn't a battlefield; it was what was left of Richmond. A panoramic shot shows the ruins of a once bustling city, most buildings completely wiped out. Some fighting is still going on in the distance.

Adam's voice narrates his letter to Eve. He's talking about how he's being kept on an extra few months. The war is not going as they had hoped. He was supposed to be home before his child's birth. As he talks, making it seem like he's doing alright and there's nothing to worry about, the scenes show quite the opposite. He's placed into many dangerous situations. He is forced to retreat into a bunker and hide there while grenades and bullets wipe through the surrounding land. He later runs across a battlefield while bombs explode around him. He comes into a rainy city street and a sniper starts picking off his companions. He and Tristan hold down a fort and fire on the enemy as they crowd into a city corner. But Adam's letter expresses that it wasn't bad out here, that he would return home soon and there wasn't much fighting anyways. He says he can't wait to see his baby daughter. He's so proud that Laura is alive and when he sees her, he's going to bring her a special gift. He also reminds Eve to put her picture in the locket. He finishes with his love. We see him sealing the letter and staring blankly at it for a moment until Tristan approaches and says it was time to move out.

Eve has several letters from Adam on her desk. She places the most recent one down, then goes to tend to a wailing Laura, who she rocks and sings a lullaby to. As Laura drifts off to sleep, Eve goes to adjust the air conditioner because it was really hot. She looks out the window and sees a group of young boys take their shirts off because they're so hot baking in the sun.

“This area right here used to be a lake,” a woman says to President Daniels. They're standing on a strip of mushy land. The woman says that the lake's dried up over just two years, an alarming rate. Daniels listens to her talk about her love of nature and her fear of what's happening to it, but then he starts to feel light-headed. She asks if he's alright, and he starts murmuring. He's sweating now and suddenly he passes out. When he comes to, he's lying on a couch. Maurey rushes to his side as he gets up. Maurey tells him to stay calm and lie dow, and Shane asks what happened. The woman, Rebecca, tells the President that he collapsed from heat exhaustion. She says he'll be better now. He thanks her for her help and her time. Rebecca says she'd be pleased to help any time. As the President leaves, he remarks on the audacity of his fainting from heat exhaustion in the middle of February.

Church bells ring. It's a bright blue day. Plants shrivel up in the excessive heat. Eve walks into church as the priest is concluding a sermon. Everyone bows their heads in prayer, and at the end of the service, Eve goes forth to meet with the Father. She calls him Father Christian, but he tells her to just call him Christian. She keeps calling him Father, though. It seems they have grown quite fond of each other, perhaps beyond a typical relationship between a priest and one of his regular dwellers. Yet they're relationship is still a distant type, for she continues to address him as Father. He tells her a brief story, and they walk together through the church pews. She carries Laura with her in her arms. Christian remarks at how beautiful a baby she is and places a hand on her forehead. He asks about her father, and Eve says that he is going to be at war for many more months now, and she's worried he will not come back. Christian tells her not to worry; if it is meant for him to come back, he shall. They have a bit of an intimate conversation on the challenge of raising a baby by one's self, and Christian offers to help raise Laura until Adam can come back. Eve thanks him.

It is night time. Adam and Tristan are in a war-torn house drinking from a flask. As the guys pass it between them, they talk about their lives. Tristan was a dentist who lost his practice after a kid died from an accidental infection that Tristan could have avoided if he hadn't been withdrawn that day. Adam talks about how he has a daughter who he's never met, and he starts describing what he thinks she looks like. As he does, we see Eve rocking baby Laura to sleep and setting her in her crib, while Adam's description seems fairly accurate. Adam says he can't wait to see her for the first time, and they drink to that. Then gunshots permeate through the air. There's a shrill whistling sound and the roof of a townhouse across the street collapses. Soldiers scram out. Adam and Tristan keep their ground and start opening fire on the rebels when they come into sight. Adam gets shot in the arm, but it turns out to just be grazed. They leave the house just at dawn.

A metallic train, rather futuristic looking, is cutting through a plain at noon. Adam is with a group in the trenches near the tracks watching as the train fast approaches. They plant charges and then duck for cover. An explosion shreds through the first few compartments and causes the next few to crumble all around the track and into the plain, rolling over each other, flipping through the air, and so on. Adam's group has to scram because the chaos from the explosion is much greater than expected as metal compartments come smashing down on them, even killing some of their men. As they flee through the plains, they are set upon by rebels who came seemingly from nowhere. It's a tense gunfight, and in it Tristan gets shot in the gut. Adam half-carries him away from the battle. As Tristan is dying, he gives Adam a locket and asks that Adam give it to his wife. Adam promises he will and he holds onto Tristan until he dies. Then he stares at the locket, and we flash back to Adam giving Eve that same locket, and we hear him saying that it could've been him, it could be his locket instead.

It's a sad walk through the plains at sunset. Adam and the other survivors say nothing as they walk away from the dead. Some time passes, and Adam's group rides into a small town. Adam asks to take a quick leave. He walks alone to a house and knocks on the door. The woman that answers breaks down at the sight of him. Adam gives her the locket; there is no sound in this scene.

Adam boards another zeppelin at one of the floating platforms. The soldiers are rather merry as they ride out from the battle zone. Adam is writing a letter he's preparing to send to Eve at the next stop. He tells her that he should be coming home next month. He can't wait to see her. The ride is going smooth, but suddenly, there's a loud whistling sound and a missile shreds through the zeppelin. Flames lick out and consume most of the passengers. Adam diverts himself away, but the flames rush up from behind and it looks like he's consumed in the flames too. An outside shot shows the zeppelin consumed in a ball of flame, then bits and pieces of it tumble all around on the ground below. The screen fades.

Eve has the locket open. She's staring at the three pictures: her, Adam, and Laura. Then a girl's voice calls, “Mama, I'm ready.” Eve goes out of her room and finds Laura dressed for school. She's about 5 or so now. Eve says she looks nice, but she's forgetting her protective covering. Eve puts a thick coat-like thing on her daughter, reminding her to keep it on when she's outside. It will keep her cool and safe from the sun. Eve walks her daughter to school. We see all people outside are wearing those odd suits. A homeless man pleads for some water, and a businessman says he has none to spare. Signs remind people to wear their safety gear and to conserve water. Eve brings Laura to school and they hug goodbye. Afterwards, Eve goes over to the church, where Father Christian is waiting. We notice a big difference in the way they talk to each other now. She calls him Chris, and they seem personal. They talk for a bit, and then they kiss. As they part lips, he asks her about that locket she's wearing. She says it was something from her past, and she hardly thought about it being around her neck anymore.

Shane is talking on the phone with someone and he's getting quite worked up. He ends the conversation as Rebecca walks in. They seem pretty close; she calls him by his first name even. She tells him that it was time to go meet with the committee. Shane looks at his watch and says he forgot that was today. They walk out together and ride out to meet with the committee. It's a group of scientists at a facility, testing a secret experiment. They tell the President that they've made great progress on the site. They show him video footage that the probe detected. It's of a very familiar site: the stationary world, with the middle zone that is habitable. The probe approaches the metal doors as the scientists tell the President that the conditions are ripe for human habitation of the construct. It will make a secure temporary resettlement for the selected parties. Shane asks how many it can hold. They give an estimate of about 1,000 people. At this, Shane is outraged. He says there were millions of people in the 8 states alone (notice it's 8 now, not the 10 it was at the start). Billions worldwide. And they could choose only 1,000 people for this resettlement?! Preposterous. They tell him that the storage only would last for about a decade, and it would go faster with more people. Shane says he can't sign off on something that will allow only 1,000 people to live while everyone else perishes on a world that's going straight to hell. They remind him that this may be humanity's only hope.

One of the scientists is describing the Future Project. As she does, we see scenes depicting what she is talking about. Tests are conducted on people to determine the most varied but advanced gene pool. Applicants who pass the tests are narrowed down by their genetic strengths and weaknesses. The applicants come from a variety of physical and mental strength zones. They are about 65% female and 35% male. They are given shots that enhance their physical and mental abilities. The shots were first tested on mental patients, and we see the results of that, with some patients committing suicide from wielding too much strength. Regularly, those with the shots must also take pills to keep their strengths. The Future Project, in conclusion, would pick the most enhanced people for this task of relocating the Earth's human population in the event of Earth's untimely demise.

Shane asks what the chances are that doomsday is sooner than expected. One scientist says that the ruin to the atmosphere is putting an expiration date on Earth, and all it will take is a solar flare to wipe out a good chunk of human civilization. The Future Project was the solution. Shane still doesn't see how he can sign the death sentences of millions and let just 1,000 people move on. They say that those thousand will be the only chance at rebuilding the human population. Shane vows he shall work to ensure that access is permitted to all, not just a select few.

Later, as Shane and Rebecca ride back together, Rebecca asks Shane if he's sure he can bend the committee to his will. He reminds her that he didn't get elected to his third term as President without the power to sway others to his interests.

There's flame and rubble lying on the ground. A burning soldier tries to crawl away from the crash site, but he dies. A whistling sound permeates the air. A wind blows, scattering flame onto surrounding grass. A wall of smoke rises. The sun goes down, the wall thickens, and at dusk a medic shuttle-like vehicle arrives. Medics look through the crowd as the fire is doused. “I have one over here!” one shouts. They push aside some debris and find a soldier lying face-down in the mud, still breathing faintly. They pull him out.

Waves crash to a rocky shore. The camera pans over the coastline until it comes to a hotel, only it isn't a hotel. It looks like one, but it's actually a hospital. We see patients outside, and we go inside to a room to find Adam lying in a bed. The nurse comes in and tells him it's time for him to get his daily pill, and he flirts with her about his “strength” then takes the pill. She asks if he can stand on his own today, and Adam says he feels confident, but he flirtatiously asks her to catch him if he falls. He pushes back the covers, and we see his legs are encased in metal braces. He grunts as he lifts himself up then tries getting out of bed, wiggling his toes. He puts one foot down, then the other, and suddenly he wobbles a bit then collapses into a wheelchair. The nurse says he will get the hang of it soon.

Adam is outside near the pool area, sitting in his wheelchair alone. A man approaches and asks him why he's sitting alone today. Adam calls him Franklin. Frank says he'd like to keep Adam company if he doesn't mind, to which Adam sarcastically says that the last thing he need is his shrink dogging him. Frank remains optimistic about Adam's recovery. Adam and Frank have a brief conversation about Adam's progress; Frank insists the pills will start working, and then Adam will receive his next two shots. After that, he should be much improved. Adam seems skeptical of this whole procedure and asks how it's supposed to make him better. Frank tells him that it's going to get him walking again and put him back in control of his body.

Frank and Adam are strolling down a pathway along the beach, Adam in his wheelchair while Frank walks beside him. Adam asks when his wife's going to get to see him. Frank says it will be soon. Adam says he was supposed to be home two months ago. He's worried Eve will be worried. He asks if she's gotten his letters at least. Frank says that she has received them to the best of his knowledge, unless they got lost on the way there. Adam says with the war going on, it wouldn't surprise him. As they keep moving along, we can see that Frank looks guilty of something.

Night time at the hospital. A shuttle comes down and lands on a shuttle port. Some people in white doctor robes step off. We find Frank in his office drinking Scotch. The door buzzes open and the people in white come in, lead by a female doctor, Dr. Yuri. Yuri and Frank greet each other, but it's not warm. Frank starts off by saying he doesn't think this procedure is working. The experiment is producing no noticeable results in 5 of his patients. Yuri says it will take time, but she has brought him the shots. She wants him to start administering it to those 5 patients to see if they will improve. They discuss some of the conditions of those patients and at last come to Adam, who Yuri seems interested in. He is a paraplegic and the pills aren't making progress. Yuri wants his dosage doubled. She asks more personal questions about Adam. He was in a coma for 4 years, but he was never told. He still thinks the war is happening. Frank says he wants Adam to know, but Yuri says that the patients must be kept secret and must not be allowed to communicate with the outside world. Adam is dead to the rest of the world, and it would stay that way. Frank reveals that he has kept up with holding Adam's letters to his wife. He looks guilty about it. He says he would at least like to let Adam know it's been 5 years and not just a couple months, so Adam could know if his wife has moved on in his absence. She thinks he's dead. It's a cruel trick. Yuri says it is a necessity. This experiment is the most crucial advancement in humankind. She hands Frank several syringes and says that this Adam must be given his tomorrow.

Laura is strolling in the park with a little boy her age. She's in her white sun coat, but he's not. Eve watches from a distance on the park bench in her sun coat, when Christian comes and sits next to her with a drink. They sip together and Christian says that Laura was the most beautiful little girl he'd ever seen. Eve smiles and shares in her love of Laura. They watch Laura playing with the boy in the park. Then Christian asks Eve if she's considered having another child in the future. Eve says it was hard enough trying to get the first. Besides, she's not married now. Christian says he knows, but tomorrow could be a different day. Eve smiles kind of nervously and Christian apologizes for pushing that issue again. He knows she's still not ready. Eve says she should be honestly; it's been 5 years. She just can't get over the fact that she never even got to see her husband's body. Suddenly, a woman shouts out the little boy's name and rushes to him, yelling at him for not wearing his sun coat. She snatches him away and they rush off. Eve goes to fetch Laura and says they should go home now, too, and Christian walks with them out of the park.

Shane is meeting with a joint session of leaders discussing the Future Project. Shane is arguing his point for admitting all citizens to the selected intermediate zone. He is dramatically emphasizing the need to preserve freedom and equality for all, to allow everyone to make the decision whether to stay or go. The fate of humankind was on the line, and people had a right to know. But his points are shot down by most of the joint leaders, many of whom criticize his thoughts as causing chaos and lawlessness, which could lead to another war. There is not enough room for all of America, let alone the whole world, to make this venture into the unknown. The Future Project had to be limited to a select few. Shane seems beat, but he tries pressing on, growing outraged over the unjustice of this call. When it becomes clear that he can't win with the joint leaders, Shane declares that he will forfeit his seat then, and that he will do all that he can to oppose this action. The others try to convince him not to, but Shane says he forfeits and storms out.

As Shane is undressing in front of a mirror, Rebecca lies on a bed in a nightgown. She asks Shane how the meeting went. Shane says he doesn't want to talk about it. Rebecca tells him that just because the joint leaders won't agree doesn't mean he can't argue his point with the Senate, and if all else fails, he can surely argue it with the people. They would listen to what he had to say. Shane and Rebecca kiss, then Shane reveals that he was giving up his seat on the mission. Rebecca holds his face and looks him in the eyes, hers watery-looking. And she says she will give hers up too, if that's what it must mean to show that all people deserved this right.

We see a series of scenes pass by. In some, Adam is undergoing treatment and physical therapy. Frank coaches him through his recovery process but has yet to let on that Adam was in a coma for nearly 5 years, or that his wife thinks he's dead. He beats around questions Adam has about her. In others, we see Eve raising Laura, a couple months passing by before us. It's winter yet it feels hotter than summer, and the water shortage has gotten much worse. Eve must tend to a sick Laura and is very worried about her, but Christian offers a supportive hand, and Eve finds solace once more in the reverend. They later kiss, and Eve tells him that maybe she really is ready to begin a life with him. He doesn't want to push her into it, but if she's ready, then he will commit himself to her every day and every night. In still more, we see Shane trying to gain support from the Senate to make the Future Project known to all, while also being informed of growing facts about the issue. A solar burst from the sun could severely damage the already thinning atmosphere and also cause catastrophic terrestrial damage because the atmosphere no longer offered the protection it once did.

A montage of atomic bomb explosions is shown on screen, some in black and white, some in color and futuristic imagery. The montage ends and we find Shane once more speaking with Rebecca. Remember, she is a scientist too. She says that it was humankind's fault that they were in this predicament. The thinning of the atmosphere was a direct result of so much nuclear warfare. Shane shushes her and says he just wants to take an hour and not think about all this chaos in the world, about all the things he has had to deal with over his past three terms in office. She asks what he does want to think about, and he says he doesn't want to think at all, and instead begins romancing her. They fall into bed together, undressing each other, when suddenly there's a knock at the door. Shane dresses and answers to find Maurey there. Shane grouchily asks what he wants, and Maurey says there was urgent news.

Shane is taken to the Island again, where at the observation he is briefed on an approaching solar flare burst that could be much larger than usual. The radiation could smite the thin ozone with the force of a god, and the damage could be catastrophic. Shane is alarmed and says he doesn't think the Future Project is near ready. He asks how much time they may have, and the scientists say they must race forward with the Project as quickly as they can.

Dr. Yuri strolls into Frank's office. He looks up from a file, and she lays it down. She asks that he finish up his training here because the subjects were going to be needed sooner than expected. She asks how progress has been and if any have shown signs of improvement and readiness. Frank says he really doesn't think they are prepared for this yet, that the genetic enhancements haven't fully kicked in and they don't even know the risks because they've never been given time to observe the side effects. Yuri pushes though, so Frank says that he has seen a tremendous leap in some of the subjects' physical and cognitive functions. He describes some of these seemingly extrahuman traits, then reflects on Adam in particular. He says that some (like Adam) were not fully prepared yet, but they had definitely improved drastically. Yuri wants to see these test subjects.

Frank goes through the facility showing her the human subjects who have been given the shots and pills. Some display tremendous feats. We see a man working out a long mathematical equation, one quickly assembling some complex mind puzzle while a nurse watches. One is running rapidly on atrack, and another jump ropes at an amazing speed. There's boxing, wrestling, bicyling, etc. All are impressive. And then Frank goes to show some who have not improved as much or are still working and at last comes to Adam, who is in his wheel chair watching some of the others work out. Frank asks Adam how he is today and Adam says he feels fine. Frank talks briefly and tries to convince Adam that it was time for him to try walking. Adam says he doesn't think he can do it, but Frank encourages him, so Adam tries. At first his legs wobble, but he manages to pull himself out of the chair and...sure enough after a few rough wobbles, he's standing and then walking, awkwardly at first but then getting a hang of it. Yuri draws Frank aside and says it must be working. His file said he was permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Frank claps for Adam, and the nurses all watch and smile and Adam is laughing heartily. He goes on a walk around the grounds, and Frank and the nurses try chasing him to get him back to take his pill, but Adam just says he wants to walk and he does so, walking for hours around the grounds, running finally, he even goes to the edge of the water and decides he wants to swim. Frank is laughing now, too, because he can see a youthfulness and rejuvenated spirit in Adam, who gloats happily and seems really proud. But when Adam shouts that now he can go home to Eve as a healed man, Frank's smile dies and he looks at Yuri pitily. She tells him that Adam must not be let on.

Eve is at home while Laura is at school. She's in a night gown and fixing her hair while the shower is running. Christian comes out of it with a towel draped around his waist. He smiles at her and kisses her passionately on the neck. He says he'll be right back, and as he walks off she looks at the locket and opens it, looking at the pictures again while Christian talks about his plans with her for the evening and how it would be a special night. She smiles while she's staring at Adam's picture, and then there's a knock. She says she'll get it and slips into a robe. She answers the door and it's a mail man, who hands her some letters. She puts most aside but comes to a bundle suddenly, with Adam's handwriting. She starts reading through the letters. They were the ones Adam had written to her after he woke from his coma, the ones that were held by the hospital. As Eve is reading through them, her eyes begin to tear up. She comes to the last one and finds it's from someone else. She reads it and at once breaks into a wail, rocking back and forth while she holds herself. Christian comes in and asks what's wrong, and he sees the letters and holds her but starts reading some, not saying much but seeming to understand. He sees the one in her hands and takes it, and as he reads it he looks depressed. He stares at the shaken Eve, and he says this can't be true. Eve, with a broken voice, says they enclosed a picture, and she pulls it out, showing Adam in a wheel chair. “He's alive,” she says. They have a debate on the authenticity of it, but Eve silences Christian unmeaningly by repeating what was said in the letter, about how she was to come visit him at the hospital. She says she can't believe he's still alive, and she obviously doesn't know how to react. She seems torn here. She's repeating things from his letters, and as she does it seems obvious she still loves him. Christian asks if she's going to go see him, and Eve says she doesn't know yet. She doesn't know if she could control herself. And she doesn't know how it may affect Laura. Oddly, Christian tries to ease her mind by convincing her she ought to go. He says that he'll still be here for her when (if) she comes back. Eve tells him not to talk like that, like she'll leave him, but Christian says he knows Adam had her heart first. Eve says it's not like that, and she's on the verge of crying again, but Christian holds her and tells her that if for nothing else, she must do it for Laura, who needs to know who her dad really is. The camera pans to the piles of letters and we see one addressed to Christian, with the title The Future Project.

Eve is washing Laura in the bathtub and asking about her day at school, and Laura describes it like any child her age would. Eve seems distracted but dries her daughter off and puts her to bed, and she tells her a bedtime story about a man and a woman who loved each other very much, about how they wanted a baby but tried many times and couldn't have one, but just before the man had to go away for a really, really long time, the woman became a mommy. The man went off to fight in a war and the mommy never got to see him again, but she knew he was alright whereever he was because God was protecting him. She describes the man as a wonderful man, and by the end of it, Laura asks who this man was. Eve sniffles, and she says with a laugh that it was her father. Laura asks where her daddy was, and Eve says he was waiting for them to come to him. Laura asks if they were going to go to him, and Eve asks if that's what she'd like. She says she'd like that very much. Eve tucks her in and kisses her on the forehead, and she says that they will go see him then.

Eve and Laura stand on the floating platform waiting to board a zeppelin. Christian approaches and hugs Eve and runs his hand through Laura's hair. Eve says she will come back, and Christian nods. He says he'll wait for her, and she offers a faint smile then gets on the zeppelin. It strolls out over the grassy knolls, and Eve gazes out the window back at the platform, watching Christian vanish into the crowd.

Adam is hitting a punching bag rapidly when Frank approaches. He tells Adam that there was someone here to see him. Adam stops and says he wasn't expecting anyone. Frank tells him to follow him. Adam asks who it is, but Frank just says someone special. As they walk toward the visiting center, Adam keeps asking questions, but he stops when he sees a woman across the courtyard with her back to him. He freezes in his tracks, his mouth open in surprise. He whispers her name. And a little girl by her side turns around, scanning the courtyard.

Laura asks Eve how she'll recognize her daddy. Eve tells her she'll know him when she sees him. He has her eyes and face. Laura gazes around and she stares at a man just emering on the courtyard. She shakes her mom's arm to get her to notice, then whispers that she thinks she found him. And she seems nervous suddenly, staying close to Eve while the man approaches. Eve turns and Adam whispers, speaks, and then shouts her name, rushing to her. He embraces her in a hug while onlookers gaze. Eve is crying tears of joy and she says she thought she had lost him in the war. She was told he had died. Adam says he's been here, he was waiting to be sent home. He says he thought she got her letters, and she says she just got them yesterday. Adam says they'll have time to catch up. He turns to Laura and says he's been dreaming about her every night, and he asks how old she is. She says she's 6. Adam picks her up, and he tells her not to be afraid. He won't bite. When she still seems a bit nervous, Adam tells her a joke and she laughs and wraps her arms around his head. He half-tosses her in the air and always catches her, and they laugh and are very delighted. Eve is smiling but her eyes look sad.

Adam and Eve are seated on a bench on the beach while Laura plays in the water. Eve is talking about how it's been 6 years now, how 5 years ago she was told he had died. Adam finds out he was in a coma actually and that the war was over. He feels bad about not knowing, betrayed even, but he says he doesn't want this moment to be ruined. Eve says he has changed so much. He seems stronger. He says it's these pills they've been giving him. They catch up a bit, but Laura runs over and wants Adam to come play with her, and so he does with great enthusiasm. They run on the beach and swim a bit, Adam acting like a shark. They roll around in the sand, and Eve watches and laughs and seems to be enjoying it too. It felt right.

Frank is in his office looking out the window at the beach where he can see the threesome having a good time. He has no expression as he turns back to his desk and sits down to begin writing a letter. The door opens and two security guards walk in. They say that they have orders to take him from the facility. Frank asks where these orders came from, and they say the orders were issued by Dr. Yuri on grounds of treason. Frank says he was just doing what he knew was right, but the guards say they must take him anyways. As they apprehend him, he asks how they knew so soon. They say Dr. Yuri had her sources inside the hospital. They ask that he talk no more and lead him out.

That night as Adam puts Laura to bed, he and Eve stay up and talk some more. Adam says he wants to come home with them, but Eve says she doesn't know if the doctors will let him come just yet. Adam says he's fit, he's ready, he feels stronger than ever, healthier than ever. He wanted to be a part of his daughter's life. He sees Eve seems distant though and asks her what's wrong. She says nothing at first, but as he pushes, she reveals that this whole affair's just odd. She doesn't know how to react to him being alive when she thought for so long that he was dead. She loves him still, and she's glad, but it's hard when she thought she was ready to move on. “Move on?” he asks, and she says she didn't mean it like that, it's just him coming back is confusing. Adam asks if there's someone else in her life now, but he looks hurt as he says it. Eve tells him there had been someone, but Adam just wants to know if there is someone now. Eve won't answer, so Adam assumes so. He asks how serious, but she says she doesn't want to get into this now. She still loves Adam, and she's so glad he's alive. She doesn't want to ruin their time together.

Shane is in a private conference with only Rebecca and Maurey. Maurey is trying to persuade him not to go public as that will cause a chaos and likely result in his impeachment or possibly his death. Shane says he's not afraid of the consequences. The public has the right to know what they're dealing with and that their government is not going to protect them. He holds up a list of names and says there are only about 1,000 names on this list, and all of the people on it are important government, scientific, beauracratic, religious, etc. figures. The general public is being ignored. And it's worse than that; only the 8 States of America are represented here. What about the rest of the world? Shane argues that everyone needs this opportunity. Rebecca agrees with him, and Maurey tries being the voice of reason, but when he sees that Shane will not budge, he tells Shane that if the people behind this Future Project coming hunting for them, he's staying well hidden. Shane reminds him that they have been best friends for years, and he knows that Maurey's trying to reason with him, but he knows that this must be done. The public must know what they are facing.

Adam wakes up to find Eve leaning over Laura. Adam comes to stand beside her and puts a hand on her shoulder. He asks her if she'll stay through the day. Eve says she wants to. Adam says they'll go out, just the three of them, on an adventure where no one can stop them. He tells Eve to remember their good ol' days, and now with Laura they would be even better. Eve smiles and says she really does still love him, and she apologizes for the way she was acting yesterday, for being distant. She's just confused, but she knows she'll always love Adam. A knock interrupts them. A security guard steps in and says that he needs Adam to come with him. Adam says he's not going anywhere without his wife and daughter, but the guard tells him he has orders to take him. Eve looks concerned and tries holding her husband, who promises he'll be right back.

The guard leads Adam to a glass-lined room with the rest of the trained human experiments. Dr. Yuri stands at the foot of the crowd and addresses them all. She tells them about the Future Project. Some have already been informed of the mission that lies ahead, but now they must all learn of it. She tells them they have been selected to lead humankind to the next frontier. Their super-enhanced traits will protect them and create the perfect gene pool for the prolongation of humankind. Yuri reveals that this is the greatest achievement in scientific discovery, and they should be honored to be a part of it. As she's explaining it, Adam looks back at the glass and sees Eve being ushered off. He goes to the glass and starts banging on it, shouting her name, but she can't hear him. A guard pulls Adam back into the crowd of “superhumans”. Yuri is sending out a contract for them to sign. We see many sign but others are being forced to sign it. Adam tries fighting it off, saying he refuses to go anywhere, but the guards tell him that his wife and daughter will be harmed if he does not comply, and so he signs the contract and glowers at Dr. Yuri on the podium.

Eve and Laura are being put on a shuttle. Laura asks if daddy's coming. Eve keeps looking back expecting to see him, and she says he'll come home soon. Laura asks why they can't stay longer, and Eve says that daddy has some things to take care of. She looks sad as the shuttle takes off back to the zeppelin port.

Shane takes a podium and addresses the crowd and the media reporting that today he speaks with grave concern. He starts to reflect on the changes that have happened over the past decades. The world is no longer a safe place to live in, and it is humankind's fault. We have deprived our world, raped it so to speak. Our war and our actions have resulted in irreparable environmental damage. Shane goes on for a while, talking about the consequences of our actions, and then he starts to get into what he really came here to talk about. As he's talking, we cut to a rooftop where a sniper is setting up. He's getting his gun ready and aims it as Shane, who goes on talking about this Future Project, informing the public that there was a great threat approaching and that Earth's time may be limited. This gets a lot of gasps, but Shane speaks more loudly, and he says there was a supposed solution of sending some people off to a distant and temporary base while letting everyone else suffer. He wants to make sure everyone has an opportunity. But he doesn't finish his speech for suddenly a shot ring out, followed by more shots. Shane is wounded and topples from the podium. Rebecca tries running to him but Maurey pulls her back. Chaos unfolds in the crowd as people start panicking. Secret Service fire shots, the sniper gets hit. There's yelling and panicking.

Screens of media coverage, talking about the President's assassination and wonders about this “Future Project” and if what the President said could be true. A TV cuts off and we find Christian staring at it. He has his letter next to him, and he looks at it again. The door starts to open, and he slips the letter away as Eve and Laura walk in. Christian gets up and asks how things went. Eve puts Laura to bed and she says she feels like something strange was going on. She says the hospital was strange and she didn't get gto say goodbye. Then there was a lot of panicking and crowds exploding in chaos on the way back. She asks what's going on. Christian tells her that President Daniels was just assassinated. But he doesn't reveal anything else.

Some undisclosed time later, the “superhumans” are being shuttled to a magnificent space craft. Adam looks at it in misery. No one talks. The space craft stands like a majestic conical tower, and its surrounded by beautiful ocean because the shuttle port is on a land barge over the ocean. The crew is loaded onboard. A brilliant shot of the shuttle launching off. It's much cleaner and less noisy than you'd expect. The shuttle becomes a beacon of light in the sky, drifting off through twilight clouds.

Dr. Yuri is giving a speech to the press. She says that while what President Daniels said about a potential environemtnal calamity was true, he exagerrated it. The Future Project was not an attempt at relocation but at an expansion of the human enterprise into space. As for the potential disaster, safe zones have been set up in many cities to protect all citizens.

We see lines upon lines of cars cramming into large cities. In the background are disaster protection agency warnings that all citizens must be within the protected area. The sun beats down bright.

Eve and Laura are waiting in their car when Christian gets in with the rest of the things packed. Laura asks where they're going, and Eve says they're going to a safe place. They get into the cluster of traffic. Laura looks out the car window and asks why those people are falling. Outside, people are collapsing from heat stroke. Laura tells her not to look out the window and shields her daughter. The A/C in the car is on full blast.

Five giant silver shuttles are arranged side-by-side on an open plain near a large city. Dr. Yuri and some others are walking around it, safe under the protection of a clear dome. Yuri says that the loading will begin in a few hours. She asks that the guards make sure no one without proper identification are admitted, and if any try, they are to be shot on the spot.

Rebecca and Maurey are waiting in a hallway nervously trying to keep each other calm when suddenly a doctor shows up. Rebecca asks if he'll make it, and the doctor says that President Daniels (at this Maurey tells him “shhh” and not to call him that as it may attract notice) was still alive but barely. The bullet just missed his heart. They go into see the wounded Shane, whose kept alive by a machine. Maurey asks what they do now. Rebecca says that if they find out Shane is still alive, they will try to finish the job. But Shane was now more loved than any other man by the public. Rebecca says that after he's made his recovery, they must continue his work with him standing as their leader once more. She doesn't know how many may die after this first disaster, and she wants no one to die, but she knows some will. But they will make sure that none die after, that everyone will still have the opportunity to move on when this is over. And not just Americans. She says they will continue Shane's work until he recovers. Maurey agrees, and they both gaze down on Shane while the monitors beep.

After some brief build-up scenes showing the chaos of trying to cram into the cities, we get a scene showing domes being lowered over the city. Actually, they kind of “sprout” out of the ground, and only cover the designated areas of cities. We focus in particular on the city where the five giant silver shuttles lurk outside. Christian drives into the domed area, and Laura asks why that's there as they get out. Millions of people are crowded into the domed area. All look up in awe as the dome connects over them.

People are being lead into the special dome with the five silver shuttles. Guards are checking their identification cards and admitting those who have them. One man insists he had it but he lost it. There are others just outside the dome trying to get in. The guards look ready to open fire. Meanwhile, Christian is pushing through the crowd trying to lead Eve and Laura. It's a riot as people push toward the special dome. Guards hold those at the front back.

As people are being loaded onto the shuttles, Romertha tells the head of security that they must finish within the hour. The forecast predicts the disaster to strike shortly after and they need to launch the shuttles before it strikes. She then proceeds to board the shuttle she's supposed to be on. Many important people are boarding the five large shuttles.

A man in the crowd holding his infant son shouts that there was plenty of room on those shuttles for more people. They weren't filling them to the max. Others shout out in agreement and push harder to get into the special dome. When one breaks through suddenly, chaos is unleashed. He is shot and suddenly more shots ring out, hitting bystanders. People start running in all directions. There's a melee to get to both the front and the back as bullets ring out. This chaos goes on for some time until suddenly there's a brilliant flash of orange light in the sky. Then at once it looks as though the sky is catching flame. The heat outside the domes is boiling, and fires start spontaneously. The fires start expanding, becoming ravenous conflagrations that sweep through the city in parts not protected by the dome. The flames just lick at the dome yet people scream in fear. The chaos becomes paramount. In the chaos, Laura gets lost from Eve and Christian. Eve screams out for her and tries pushing through the crowd to find her. Christian tells her he'll get her. He gives her his papers and says that if he doesn't make it back, he wants her to get on that shuttle. She says she will not go without him or Laura. Christian just says he promises to get Laura back but he tells her to wait for her at the shuttle so he knows she'll make it too.

Brilliant shots of the destruction unfold. Giant walls of flame race through countryside. The dryness has caused the fires to erupt. Excessive heat and dry winds just blow the flames in mad cyclones of fire. Buildings crumble in the walls of flame. Yet the dome remains intact. Up in the sky, the bluish hue is taking on an orange tinge.

Christian is searching desperately for Laura. He shouts her name and runs past people. Meanwhile, at the domes the guards are being overrun by people. Seeing this, Romertha gives the order to launch. People still rush in and start climbing shuttles, but the first shuttle starts to take off. It's Romertha's shuttle. The dome opens up and at once flames reach down into the zone and start scorching people trapped inside who are not in the shuttles. People scream as flames lick their bodies. The shuttles are safe though and Romertha's shuttle is climbing up when suddenly it brushes the dome and gets rocked violently. The shuttle jerks a bit and then a giant gust of flame impacts it and it spirals out of control, right for the dome protecting the city. The shuttle explodes in a brilliant explosion of flame. Cracks run along the dome. The special dome for the other shuttles seals back shut. People are screaming now, but there's a moment of silence as we see the cracks run along the large dome protecting the city.

Eve stands on higher ground looking desperately out over the crowd, crying Laura's name. Meanwhile, Christian is still running around looking for her and avoiding chaos, and finally he finds her lying unconscious on the ground. He retreives her and now fights to get back to the front of the crowd. He shouts Eve's name, saying he had her, hoping she would hear him. The dome starts to cave in in pieces and flames rush in in parts of the city. But Christian and a mob of others are pushing for the front of the dome to get to the shuttles. Eve spots them coming and tries running to them while Christian runs supporting Laura. The mob is maddening as people trample others. The dome opens again and the second and third shuttles launch out, this time making it out during a break in the firestorm. They rise safely into the sky and take off. The fourth shuttle is taking off, people dangling off it. Many plumet to their deaths as the shuttle launches into the sky. Then the dome must reseal as flames rush in again and people burn and buildings burn. The other dome is falling still and people rush to get to the last shuttle. Eve is at the gateway between the two domes as the larger dome caves in and flames are fast approaching. Christian just manages to push Laura through to Eve, but then he gets crushed by falling pieces of the dome, and the gateway between the two gets sealed shut. Eve stares back at Christian struggling on the ground. They both press a hand to the dome, and then he starts to burn. She can't watch and looks away, crying as she rushes with Laura toward the shuttle.

People are being let on this time. The people on the last shuttle opened the doors to let more people on, but now the second dome is starting to break. There's not much time; they're going to close the doors. But Eve shouts out for them to wait. She rushes forward as the doors are closing, screaming out that she has a little girl and if nothing else they must take her. But as she gets to the front a man who is just climbing on to the overfull shuttle grabs Laura and pulls her in, then helps Eve up and lets her have his spot cause no more can fit. The door shuts and the shuttle starts to take off while thousands still lie below on the ground and watch as the dome crumbles around them and the shield doors are lowered. The shuttle takes off as flames rush in a circle down on the ground, wiping over the people. The shuttle rises into a burning sky, chaos all around. Flames reach at the shuttle but it keeps rising. All around, a magnificent firestorm races out, a cyclone of flame spinning through the countryside. The shuttle rocks and people get tossed about inside as it keeps rising and it nearly tumbles like the first shuttle, but they persevere and the shuttle keeps rising and rising and rising.

And now it's emerging from Earth, and below we can see the flaming world, like a hell world. The shuttle joins the other three surviving shuttles in outerspace, taking off from a burning Earth. Eve holds tightly onto Laura, rocking her back and forth. She tells her everything would be alright, while Laura cries in her arms. Eve tells her to hush, hush, mama has her. They were going to see daddy now. Around there are a lot of sobs and people hold onto each other, complete stangers taking in each other. Eve looks up at the window looking back on Earth, and she says nothing.

There is a world with one side always facing the sun and the other always away from it, but in the middle a shuttle lowers down to the calmer midzone and approaches a metal hangar, which opens to admit the shuttle. It lowers onto a port, and the doors open. The “superhumans” step out. Adam emerges to see the facility that has been established here. It was a large facility and could fit many people. As their being instructed of their tasks, told that they must mate to continue the human species, that this was only a temporary home until a more permanent solution could be found, Adam looks around in disgust. He interrupts the speaker. He says this could hold ten thousand, a hundred thousand, maybe a million people. He says there had to be enough food to last years. Enough places for families with kids to grow, places to make schools, a church. They could have a community, a city here. Adam asks why only a handful of the population should be chosen to survive in this place when many more could. The instructor tells him to be quiet and not arouse violence, but Adam refuses and says this was absurd. This was huge, and suddenly others agree with him and they're getting a bit aggressive about it. Guards try to detain them, but the “superhumans” break out in a fight, and with their enhanced strength they overpower the guards. They take control of the facility and Adam finds a transmitter. He speaks through it. He says that if there were any survivors, they was plenty of room here. He tries directing the people where to go. He says it's been 9 years since they left Earth, and if anyone was out there, there was a home for them, a place to be safe.

The five metal shuttles are cruising through space. We find Eve, almost 10 years older now. With her is a grown Eve, a teen of 15. They're talking about some delicious foods they used to like, when suddenly they hear a transmission coming on. The captain turned it on so all could hear it. It describes the home, where it was at. Eve recognizes that voice. It was Adam talking. She stares at the speaker in a trance. Laura places a hand on her mom's shoulder, and Eve hugs her daughter.

The last bit is something of a “deevolution” of what was shown at the start. A ruined Earth reverses, atmosphere reforming to make the Earth we knew, wars reversing, human development reversing. Reverse Ice Age, reverse Dinosaur Age, bacteria, chaos of Earth's formation. Reverse to the early solar system, the formation of the sun, the formation of galaxies, and suddenly a bright light becomes darkness in reverse. It's dark for a moment and then, a bright explosion of light like the first shot, suggesting it's starting all over. Credits roll.

Plot

The movie starts with an imagem of a young boy, named Rian, with 7-8 years old, holding his mother's hand. The story is narrated by Paul, one of the only kids who got along with Rian when he was young. Rian was not like other boys. We didn't play football or had fun with other kids. He entertained himself by picking flowers and things like that. He suffered bullying from others, except from me and another guy, a young black kid. Everyone thought he was gay, but we never got a confirmation.

The same thing happened over and over again, all days. Until one day he left a paper to the other boy, with flowers and hearts drawed, saying that he wanted to meet with him for both to play together. Obviously, the boy did not like that, and threatened to give him a beating. Never knew if he eventually beat Rian or not. We see the scene of the

Later, at age of 12, he tried to kill his baby brother. He tried to drown it in boiling water. The baby was saved in time, but it had to go to the hospital because of several burns. After that, he was sent to a special school for kids who commit crimes. I know that somewhere in that time he got AIDS, but not sure how. He consumed drugs, so it is said that one of the syringes he used was used by someone with the disease before. We see the syringe and how it passed from one person with the disease to Rian.

At 18, he returned from that school. In the meantime, his family moved and never searched him. The boy did not have a reason to live or a place to go. He spent his life on the street, threatening several people with a syringe carrying his blood. Paul says he thinks he never really infected someone.

We see two moments of that in the movie, where Rian reveals more about his mental problems. In one of the them, he lets a woman get away, in the other, he doesn't and kills a mam with several scams in his throat. Both of these scenes are very intense and scary in some moments.

One day, he knocked at my door's house. I was at home but my mother was who answered. He asked for an ambulance and said he was very ill. When he heard the noise of the ambulance arriving, he run away. Until today, never heard of him anymore, but I assume he is still somewhere in the street or was catched by the police.

In the end, we see a scene of Rian being led down a corridor of a madhouse, thinking on getting revenge from the people who made his life an hell. Between hearing Rian's thoughts, we see flashes of the kids at the park bullying him, the black kid that beated him, his family and Paul...

Plot:

Blankments and DC Logos appear.

Blankments Productions and DC Entertainment Presents. An Andrew Stanton Film. The film opens with an alarm clock. Jaime Reyes hits it and gets up. As he gets dressed and ready for school, the opening credits begin for BLUE BEETLE. He heads downstairs and sees his mom and dad at the dining table with his little sister. He grabs some cereal and goes out to catch the bus. He gets on the bus, and he sits next to his friends, Brenda and Paco. We then see Jaime make it through the day with his friends. After school, Paco is beat up by a local bully known as the Posse. Jaime tells them to stop, and the Posse glares at him while letting Paco go. The Posse tells Jaime that he’ll deal with him tomorrow. Brenda tells them both to ignore the Posse and they walk home.

Paco asks Jaime if his dad has let him work with him yet. Jaime replies that his father refuses to let him work at the garage, saying that he does not want to see his son grow up too fast. Brenda shrugs, saying that Jaime’s dad does seem smart. Jaime rolls his eyes, and they go inside Paco’s house to hang out. They play video games for a bit, and eat dinner. Paco’s mom asks Jaime what his parents do, and he says his father runs a garage and his mother is a paramedic.

After dinner, they turn on the TV. They see a CNN report, talking about Booster Gold. The anchorman talks about how, after the hero saved the president of the United States, he set up a company that is gaining the anger of several politicians, saying that the heroics should either be a free service, and not one at all. A debate begins on the show, and Paco suddenly changes the channel. Brenda asks why, and Paco says he doesn’t care about superheroes.

Jaime says that he met Booster Gold, and of course, neither Paco nor Brenda believes him. He insists it is true, but they just ignore him. Jaime muses that he’d like to be a hero, but Brenda and Paco just laugh and call him a geek. Paco then gets in an argument with Brenda, saying heroes are a waste of space, with Brenda replying that heroes are one of the greatest things that has happened to the world recently. Paco says that Booster Gold is proving to be a jerk, but Brenda counters by saying the Flash and Martian Manhunter are proving otherwise. Jaime takes this occasion to leave the room.

He heads home and hears his mom and dad yelling in the living room. He sneaks upstairs and sees his sister in his room. He quickly gives her a hug, and they go to bed. They fall asleep, but Jaime wakes up at 11:55 PM. He gets up and goes downstairs for a midnight jog, when suddenly, something comes out of the sky that looks like a meteorite. Jaime quickly goes to look at it, and he finds a bizarre looking blue scarab. He picks it up and it suddenly becomes alive and grafts itself to the base of his spine. Jaime wakes up in his bed, deciding it was just a dream.

Jaime takes off his shirt to go take a shower, when he notices the blue scarab is still there. He tries to get it off, when suddenly a blue suit covers him and the Scarab begins speaking to him. The Scarab tells him that Reyes and the Scarab are now one, a Blue Beetle. Jaime doesn’t understand. The Scarab reads his mind, and tells him the Blue Beetle is meant to be a guardian of the planet it is sent to, much like a hero. Jaime realizes that his wish came true, and decides to take on the Posse with his newfound powers.

The Scarab flies him to the Posse, with Jaime oddly remarking that he has no control over the suit. They then fight the Posse briefly, with Jaime easily defeating him. However, the Scarab almost kills the Posse and Jaime yells at him to stop. The Scarab retracts back into Jaime, leaving him standing over an unconscious Posse with only shorts on. Jaime runs back home and he talks to the Scarab about how he needs to be a hero and not a villain. The Scarab says that you must be authoritative for heroics, and insists that killing the Posse would’ve been the right thing. Jaime is very disturbed by this.

Suddenly, Jaime hears a knock at his door. He finds this odd, remarking to the Scarab that his parents and sister are gone for the day. He opens his bedroom door and finds Booster Gold and Skeets standing in front of him. The Scarab instantly suits up Jaime, and Booster Gold is shocked, while Skeets quickly scans Jaime and sends out a signal. The suit immediately removes itself and the Scarab turns red. Jaime asks what’s going on, and Skeets says he just knocked out the Scarab for as long as their visit..

Booster Gold begins explaining to Jaime, saying that they’ve met before, and Jaime says that yes, he remembers. Booster Gold apologizes, explaining that time he’s mentioning is a few years from now. Jaime is confused, and Skeets explains that they are from a few years from now after a terrible event they can’t mention yet, and they needed to come back to tell him about Slyfox. Jaime asks what that is, and Booster Gold says that the Scarab will know. They suddenly teleport away, and Jaime is confused. He asks the Scarab about Slyfox, and the Scarab puts on the suit, and flies off to Santa Fe.

The First National Bank in Santa Fe is being robbed by Slyfox. Jaime and the Scarb crash through the building, and proclaim themselves as the Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle engages in a great fight with Slyfox. Slyfox is seriously confused, but actually puts up a serious fight with Blue Beetle. After five minutes of fighting throughout Santa Fe, Slyfox is arrested by some policemen, who do not notice Blue Beetle nearby. Blue Beetle flies away but not without Slyfox throwing something at him. Jaime asks what was thrown at him, and the Scarab answers that it is an unknown time travel device. Jaime begins freaking out but then vaporizes in thin air, being sent to some point in the future.

BLUE BEETLE

During the credits, we see an unknown being (Dwayne Johnson) breaking Slyfox out of jail, asking him if he knows anything about cybernetics. Slyfox smiles. After the credits, we see Patrick O’Brien propose to his girlfriend, Ramona (Emily Blunt.)
