Firedeep, Saturday 3:00PM update:

Saturday performance of Titanic 3D is very strong. So far it's doing ahead of the OD of TF3 but behind its Saturday, which is the biggest day ever in China box office for a certain movie. Anyway, an excellent 100M yuan for the day still looks possible for Titanic.

Titanic 3D daily break down:

Mid 1.6M

Tue 10M w/o mid

Wed 10.5M +5%

Thu 9M -14%

Fri 11M +22%

Sat 15M +36%

Sun 11M -27%

6 days total: 68M, no 70M, but still biggest opening week EVER !

I don't understand the big deal. We already knew IM3 was coming out. Does this mean it will be filmed in China?

Probably it goes like this:

DMG finances 15% of IM3, with some scenes, but not much, shot in China.

If IM3 is budgeted at 200M, DMG will fund 30M of them. Lets say IM3 does 100M in China, DMG can collect 40M from the gross (40% of its box office). They earns 10M.

For Disney, if they doesnt use the 30M fund of DMG, it can only get 25% at the most of IM3 box office in China, or 25M. Actually, IM3 wont make 100M without DMG's money because the government will limit its marketing in China if its not a sino-America co-produced movie.

Rumors is that Robert Downey Jr. will be in China next Monday.
