Movie trailers premiering during SuperBowl 2013

I'm almost certain Universal will do a spot for Oblivion and I only hope its great cause that movie is facing an uphill battle at the moment.

 

Why?

After some googling, here are the movies that will have commercials at this year's SB:

 

Universal - Oblivion (TV spot)

Universal - FF6 (short trailer)

Disney - IM3 (a 60s trailer and a 30s TV spot) [source: Via Disney]

Disney - The Lone Ranger (90s  trailer) [source: Via Disney]

Disney - OZ (30s TV spot) [source: Via Disney]

Paramount - STID (30s TV spot / there will also be a Japanese version trailer around that time on the net)

 

WB / Sony / FOX dont have any commercials this year.

Because so far the trailers and spots are lifeless and generic.

Over 100M people watch SB. I understand why studios pay for it and just look at TA. It massively helped build the buzz for it last year as it had the best spot.

I think it still would broke out. I think SB only helps February and March films. May films might get a small boost. but June and July films are 4-5 months away. I think most people forget about those trailers.

It did help TA a lot especially with Hulk. He had been a miscast in the previous 2 movies and spot showed his true potential. It showed he would be fun with a lot of action. GA was expecting that and weren't disappointed. That clearly helped with the WOM.

Lack of a Die Hard ad is a damn stupid oversight by Fox. This is EXACTLY where they need to be pushing it seeing as it's out in just over 2 weeks!

CBS is broadcasting the game this year, and Die Hard already had a deal with Fox to completely sponsor the previous two rounds of NFC games. So the Yippie Ki Yay postgame show might have something to do with it.

No GI Joe 2? Bad move by Paramount. The movie opens in late March.

Paramount already wasted money on a SB ad for GI Joe last year so it's understandable that they wouldn't want to do it again.

It is stupid because the Spot would really help it since the movie opens in March. And they already wasted money on everything, not just a SB Spot. WWZ opens in late June. By the time it opens, people already forgot about that spot.

I think it may be a 30 sec ad during the Superbowl but it will probably lead to a longer 60-90 second ad on their website or FB page following the airing. (like the 30 second one may end saying "To see more go here")

The Lone Ranger 90-second ad is at 2pm ET during the pregame show, not during the actual game
