No one was calling 12 Years a Slave the obvious BP winner. Everyone thought it'd be zero emotion and all brutality which would cause it to be shut out from the Academy

A few pages ago there were some that already predicted a winner...

Yeah, philomena is now suffering, but it was meant to conquer AMPAS, not critics

This. Critics are very cynical and movies like this aren't for the very cynical types. This is going to kill with the AMPAS members.

Here's what I think(though pretty much the consensus right now)Gravity12 Years a SlaveSaving Mr BanksAmerican HustleWolf of Wall StreetHerInside Llewyn DavisCaptain PhillipsNebraska

I'm not quite convinced that Her and Mr. Banks will get in but other than that this is very similar to my prediction.

Both will benefit from a December opening.

Mr Banks is thematically very appealing to AMPAS.

And thanks to the voting system, Her is in a very good possition to get in thanks to #1 votes.

This is a crazy year. Too many beloved films out there.

Not going to search for all of my lists wish it was easier on here but whatever)

Current:

12 Years

American Hustle

Captain Philips

Gravity

Inside Lewis Desmond

Philomena

Saving Mr. Banks

Wolf of Wall Street

I see The Butler having a chance here due to how political it is for them...but that's another story.

8 films there

Other films that could make it in-Her (umm yeah looks like a screenplay only nom but you never know), The Butler (see above), Nebraska (good chance), All is Lost (if this is a frontrunner for actor-it needs another nom as said before only Last King has won best actor with no other nomination since the first Oscars, wont be nominated for screenplay, so there you go), Blue Jasmine (Oscars love that dirty old dude...),  Fruitvale (that one Summer film), Before Midnight (Like Fruitvale, that one Summer film not a lot of people saw)

Blank's Projections If Critics Were Perfect Precursors

12 Years a Slave

American Hustle

Fruitvale Station

Gravity

Her

Inside Llewyn Davis

Saving Mr. Banks

The Spectacular Now

The Wolf of Wall Street

I'd add Captain Phillips and replace The Spectacular Now with Nebraska (it's getting in).

I think Banks will manage to get in.

It's kind of interesting that the only live-action Disney film to be nominated for Best Picture was Mary Poppins and fift years later, a film about the making of it could also get in

You forgot Before Midnight and Mud

These aren't actual predicts; this is what I get if I look at all the current Critic's Awards and average them out
