Horrible numbers for everyone. Onward estimates are even lower, Bloodshot numbers are similar to Hellboy and the holdovers didn't do much better (TiM and Gentlemen have great WOM but their drops are bigger than expected). This week it's going to be even worse without a big release. Dark times are coming

Maybe people are starting to fear crowds (although Woman's Day concentrations were very crowded). But the contagion is spreading fast: 200 more cases and 8 deaths just in Madrid since yesterday.

I won't update BO anytime soon. Cinemas in Madrid are only selling 1/3 of the entire capacity of the theatre until 26th March (it could be more days if the situation is worse) so we can expect low numbers. Films should move (Mulan, Trolls 2, A Quiet Place) and stay safe everyone

Good news, COVID is slowing down a lot in Spain and cinemas are starting to re-open and next week, Cinesa (Biggest theater chain) is opening 3 cinemas in Valencia, Santiago and Zaragoza with fan favorites like Goonies and Ghostbusters and other films

Our first official Top 10 post-COVID is here:

Onward wins the Friday battle with new releases The High Note, Mary, Human Lost, Cinema Paradiso (re-release) and La Cinta de Alex entering the Top 10. Gentlemen is going strong at #2.

Box office here in Portugal is dead so I am curious to see numbers for Spain. Movies here are selling 10-15 tickets on average per copy which is a disaster. No strong new releases yet tho.

What a weird Top 10. Red Shoes (an animated Korean film) debuts at #1, the controversial Unplanned debuts at #2, La Lista de los Deseos (Spanish Comedy) debuts at #3 and the re-release of Apocalypse Now debuts at #10

The numbers are probably all around very low which allows these smaller releases to make it to the top spots.

Red Shoes gets a strong debut for independent distributor Flins y Piniculas (One of their best for animated films) with +100K€ after COVID and La Lista de los Deseos flops hard.

Friday means new releases. Spanish Comedy Superagente Makey debuts at #1, The Wretched debuts at #2, Scoob drops to #3 (it was released on Wednesday where it was #1 for 2 days) and The Peanut Butter Falcon debuts at #4. I hope this will be the first weekend post-COVID to cross 1M€
