Twice as much as John Carter. hmmm.

first film did 1.6m, but had already made 2.6m from 10pm shows, that represents 4.2m combined, this is a massive drop off. JC was not a sequel so the backloading was to be expected. I think a sub 31m wknd is in play.

Were these labeled wrong:POTM: $6-8 million, http://www.boxoffice...id=1171&p=s.htmAOTC: $6.2 million, BOM verifies, http://www.boxoffice...id=1823&p=s.htm

No. The first link says that Phantom Menace fell somewhere between 6-8 million, as did Attack of the ClonesHowever, the second link verifies that Attack of the Clones actually made 6.2 million. No actual figure was ever given for Phantom Menace, so I left it at 6-8 million.

I don't follow midnights, but it seems having midnights in mid range is the best? Having too high midnights, trends too frontloaded, and too low midnights, trends no buzz? Is there data that shows the relation of midnights to overall domestic gross?

I'm working on a midnight analysis right now. Also, I think you've got the causation mixed up here. Films that have large midnights do so because they are frontloaded. They don't become frontloaded because of large midnights.
