  1. First day earning here in the Philippines is $360K which is up 20% from the OD of Fifty Shades of Grey
  2. Movie worked because of Stone-Gosling chemistry. Miles can act but he's not a romantic leading man type with that punchable face he has
  3. I love this show, it's so heartwarming. There's too much cynicism on TV these days so a show like this is what I need
  4. Agree. I though it would be a dud when they pushed from August to January but with the reviews, Keaton could have at least had a shot for a nomination
  5. Let me echo this. I don't usually agree with Baumer but I like reading his thoughts on movies because it's not being contrarian or snarky for the sake of it

  7. The top 10 most torrented TV series in 2016 does not include a Netlfix original series. Netflix going worldwide probably helped with that
  8. Agree. Pets probably prevented DORY from reaching 500M DOM and Sing as well preventing Moana from a chance of getting to 300m. And yes ORIGINAL material should be emphasized. Just look at Storks, not easy to sell an original story these days. 2016 cemented Illuminations's brand, that is not just all about Despicable Me and Minions
  9. Oh yeah Bridget Jones, a US flop but a winner elsewhere. This and Me Before You showed there's still market for adult romance movies
  10. I think the premise is interesting, will still watch this
  11. It failed as an awards bait, they should made this fall release for box office purpose or held to 2017
  12. Sully for me is straight up winner in the box office (but as an awards bait it's a loser) Kung Fu Panda 3 is not on the loser for me as well, over $500M box office worldwide with 145M budget. It also did quite well for a January release. It also had solid reviews and helped Dreamworks' road to recovery Should be included in the winners list as well is Illumination with two box office smashes this year with original material.
  13. Opening here finally next week, excited! Although honestly the singing voices of Stone and Gosling kinda turned me off a little but maybe it works better on the screen and not just Youtube clips
  14. After that long stretch of no movies grossing in the 200M range, we're going to have 4 of it in the end
  15. The DUFF was OK for me, good enough time filler when I chance upon on cable type of movie. I wish we could get Edge of 17 here but likely not. Too bad it really got lost in the shuffle especially with those reviews
  16. This opened in my country months ago and it's a good but such heatbreaking movie. Focus should have stuck with the original release date
  17. Amazon did really well handling this movie, while Netflix rules them on TV, they could do better with their movies and they didn't ignore the traditional theater route unlike what Netflix did with Beasts of No Nation which barely a theatrical release. I mean they were gunning for Oscars, so a proper theatrical release is important with this voting body
  18. Edge of 17 should have been a summer movie, i think it would have done better than going up against Fantastic Beasts. It could have at least do similar numbers with The D.U.F.F.
  19. Arrival need a re-release to make it, which may happen if it gets major oscar nods
