  1. Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $244,326,000 22.8% + Foreign: $828,100,000 77.2% = Worldwide: $1,072,426,000 So another 7M OS this week.
  2. Yeah, so... A+ Pretty much the second best CBM ever for me. Had what I wanted from this genre: good characters, solid acting, incredible visuals, drama and inner conflict, a threatening villain and lots of destruction (add to that an incredible soundtrack). I was shocked about how much I liked it when I saw it, just because I'm not comic book fan at all and especially not a Superman fan. Haven't seen any of the other S. movies, cartoons or TV series and don't plan to.
  3. Nice for 'Turtles' and 'Lucy'. Very good holds. And I missed the fun, damn it! What was it this time? Marvel/DC/SW?
  4. The idea of it was very appealing to the European market. Also see Australia did really good. But yeah, it was huge for such a movie.
  5. http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/15414-boxofficecoms-top-100-films-of-all-time-2014-due-august-31st-1159pm/page-5 Here you go
  6. No. I'm a Dan Brown fan and I know a lot of people that only like the movies because they love the books.
  7. Top 10 all time movie. I love this so much it's ridiculous. It's over the top but it's crazy fun, with an incredible soundtrack and beautiful imagery. A+
  8. It pretty much looks like fantasy/SF and that does decent in Europe, especially the first. MI looked like your average Twilight copy flick, and Divergent was also aiming for a female audience. This looks more like an action movie with a popular among females star.
  9. China won't stop growing for at least 10 years and in the end it should pass the US. And TF 5 increasing from the 4th is pretty much a safe bet. Even if you take the China gross away from TF4, you still have a 505M grosser (Spidey, and that's with 95m from China) vs 520M. So even without China, TF4 is still bigger than any other movie OS this year (and the second biggest is DOFP with 512M).
  10. It is really weird. From what I find online, the average ticket price in Mexico is a bit over 4$ (is that right?). Even here, with an awful economy, it's over 5$ for 2D (and that if the movie not in the evening) and around 7-8$ for 3D, even more for IMAX (again, not in the evening, when the prices are bigger).
  11. Since no one posted here in a long time I'll take the duty of updating this thread regulary. We just had probably the worst weekend of the year. TMNT opened on top with 19.600 admissions. It is by far the worst top opening of the year, even worse than '22 Jump Street' that opened to a little over 22.000 admisions or 'Let's be Cops', that opened last week to no. 2 with over 23.000. There are multiple reasons for 'TMNT' performance: 1. Average-low number of theatres (45). Still, 'Let's be Cops' only had 41 last week and made more and TMNT didn't even make 1/5 of '300: RoE' (104.872 adm. from 64 screens). 2. The TMNT brand means nothing here. The animation series was never popular. And even so, in Romania the brand recognition is hit and miss. Marvel or HP are well known brands (HP novels are among the best selling books all time), still no HP made over $1M and Marvel struggles. And then you have The Hobbit. ROTK made around $350.000 in 2004. And now each of the Hobbit movies made 8X more. 3. The marketing was shit. The other openers were 'Sin City 2' (not 'As Above/So Below', as I stated in another thread; sorry), that bombed with less than 12.000 admissions and 'Step Up: All In' - also bombed, with a bit over 12.500 (and that is surprising, considering the last one did quite good here). The holdovers did good mostly (except for GotG). Lucy is a leggy movie. It made almost the same number of admissions in it's fourth weekend, as GotG in it's third. The top 10 this weekend looks like this: Also, regarding top 10 for the year till now, here it is: Overall, a weaker year than 2013 and 2012 (no Twilight, Ice Age, James Bond, IM or FF), but there's still time to recover. Interstellar, Horrible Bosses, The Hobbit, The Penguins of Madagascar, Exodus all have a good chance of making Top 10 and the final Hobbit movie is pretty much locked to take the top OW/TOTAL admissions and gross for the year (it'll probably have the 2'nd all time OW in terms of adm., behind Breaking Dawn Pt. 2's huge 123.100 and become the second highest grossing movie here behind Avatar). Next weekend openers: 1. The Expandables 3 2. A Most Wanted Man 3. The Keeper of Lost Causes (Danish crime/thriller) 4. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (India comedy/drama) Expectations: AMWM - I have no clue ; But TE2 more than doubled TE1 in terms of admissions (over 100.000)/gross. If the trend continues, it could open to over 30.000 adm, although I doubt it).
  12. It started with 40000 admissions here ( relatively small compared to the 102000 first weekend admissions of 300: RoE) and now, in it's fourth weekend, it made the same as GotG in it's third. Incredibly leggy movie. It has a small chance to top 10 for the year. Also, it helps that the market was dead this weekend (TMNT flopped; also Step Up bombed, that's just shocking here; and As above/So below did horrible).
  13. My most anticipated movie for the next year! I don't want it delayed! It's already been too fuckin long since 'Angels & Demons'.
  14. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) (I can't believe there is no thread for this one; or there is one that I couldn't find?)
  15. I also liked Beauty and the Beast, so... but TLK is so representative for my childhood
  16. Yes! Lion King will win. I freakin love this! Wish Ratatouille would've been in top 3 though
