according to google ratings: Phantom Menace - 80% Attack of the Clones - 81% Revenge of the Sith - 93% compared to: Force Awakens - 84% The Last Jedi - 75% so on average, 79.5% of people like the sequels, and 84.7% of people like the prequels. Prequels win.

the prequel trilogy is definitely better than the new star wars movies. there's more originality in a single shot of Phantom Menace than there is in the whole of Force Awakens.

I've finished my cinema trips for February now. There's nothing I want to see currently in cinemas until the weekend. Seen 24 films so far. 16 in Jan, 8 in Feb. Losing my game here... guess there's just more good stuff in January. in March... Red Sparrow, Tomb Raider, Pacific Rim 2, Gringo, Unsane, Ready Player One, Isle of Dogs. maybe a few other things, we'll see. oh and yeah Rachel McAdams has always been a crush and she is super hot in this, I don't know why because shes not wearing anything that shows anything off, she looks pretty normal, guess it just proves that she is naturally attractive and doesn't need to be made out to be hot cause she is just hot. Also jesse plemons stole the whole movie from everyone else. I want a sequel that's just him sitting in his house staring at his neighbours/pictures/dog

I really enjoyed this. Very funny, lots of laugh out loud jokes. And, especially in the first half of the film, it was really quite dark, sickly black comedy. Helped that I saw it in a big sold out screening, always a good thing with comedies when there are 200 other people laughing rather than just you. The punchline of that fight club joke was great, when the camera starts moving down the stairs and you just hear shouting, you see the joke coming and everyone was roaring with laughter. I enjoyed the twists, was pretty obvious that the Jesse Plemons character would somehow be a twist but it still took me by surprise when it happened. Main problem I had is that I think it should have stopped there, didn't see the point in the whole russian mafia thing. I guess once you start tying several plots together it's hard to undo but I wish that stuff wasn't there. But yeah generally, was gripped by it and it was very funny. Also like some comments above, it's a properly cinematic film. "From the guys who brought you Horrible Bosses" didn't give me much hope but I really liked the visuals in this movie. Loved some of the shots of houses / cars which make them look like monopoly pieces, then it gets closer and theyre real.

Wouldn't be surprised if Lion King won the year. But then I said Jungle Book would win the year in 2016 and I was wrong. Disney is really getting their live-action remakes into gear, since Lion King, Dumbo, and Aladdin are coming out. Unlike mulan which is still pencilled in for this year, these are all in post production so should all meet their release dates. Jungle Book did 360M, BATB did 500M, the potential is clearly high but I think the novelty will wear off quite quickly. Three major ones within 4 months, I think Dumbo and Aladdin will both do significantly less than Jungle Book. Not sure why they didn't bring some of these forward or at least spread them out... 0 in 2018, then 3 in 4 months? Just seems strange. Paramount says Top Gun is coming in 2019, I think that could do really really well. The original adjusts to 400M and it will be a big nostalgia hit since it will still have Cruise. I think Detective Pikachu will be a missed opportunity. I think a live action Pokemon movie has real appeal but it needs to have huge spectacle. Lego Movie 2 can hopefully increase from the original, shame it is a 5 year gap but still think the first one was so well received that it won't be an issue, can do 300+. On the other hand I think Pets 2 and Frozen 2 will both decrease from their predecessors. As will Toy Story 4.

i agree would prefer to have something unusual since I'll see bigger movies anyway most likely. just thought PR2 maybe as it's going to absolutely bomb. Didn't they have Planet of the Apes a few years ago? Dawn?
