  1. ? It wasn't nominated for Best Comedy, Fantasia has fat chance winning Comedy/Musical Actress over Stone or Robbie and Brooks has no chance to win Supporting over Randolph who won everything so far. So how are Globes supposed to be good for it?
  2. true though WB has that other contender Joker 2 so the studio will be split unless one sucks ass (and that won't be DUNC).
  3. Yeah after The Flash testing better than TDK or best ever for WB I don't believe insider projections. For boxoffice and awards (looking at you Kevin "Eternals Will Win Best Picture" Feige). But fingers crosssed ofc! I want Dune to pull a ROTK and win Picture too.
  4. Whether a musical is a Broadway hit or not doesn't mean shit if adaptation doesn't connect. POTO sold billion tickets or something in its stage run but the movie flopped. Mama Mia was a hit on stage and in movies even spawned 1 or 2 sequels I think. So it's really a toss up. Wonka the hidden musical without any Broadway background is doing great and so did The Last Showman. White Rent and Cats flopped and they are like Broadway classics. Even if you haven't seen them you've heard of them.
  5. Yeah I get that social media doesn't like Pratt but the guy is an undisputed success. Hit movies, hit streaming. TCP's PTA is absolutely terrible. I'm looking at The Numbers site and it's making only $404 on average while other movies in over 3K theaters like TCP still have their PTA in over 1K (Wonka, Night Swim, ABY) or twice as much as TCP (Aquaman 2). Catastrophic.
  6. Not at all unexpected except around here where fans of SH movies don't really understand audience that's into romance. Enemies to lovers is the most popular romantic trope ever. It's not just in hetero romance but in all of them. Why do you think Erik and Charles are #1 slash ship? The badder the one lover the bigger the appeal of the romance. This will never go out of fashion despite concerned effort to eradicate it. I bet that when Fallout show comes out, fans will ship the shit out of the main girl and the nose-less villain instead of the main girl and the bland hero.
  7. I wouldn't put much stock in it. It's a movie with built-in audience. Who wants to see it will see it and that worked well for Pt 1 despite the pandemic.
  8. Truly shocking that a very good looking actor with tons of charm and charisma and zero scandals or controversies has a pull with the audience even if his movie isn't that great. Likability goes a long way. Hey your movie isn't very good but I really like to hang out with you for 2 hrs at the cinema.
  9. Studios do that all the time. Gosling is no less a co-lead than Gladstone in KOTFM yet he's placed in Supporting cause less competitive. Category fraud like so many of them. Category frauds in Script are less likely cause pretty much anything based on something is Adapted but points for trying ha! even if it didn't pan out.
  10. Boys and Anyone prove once again that movies for women are leggy af. Repeat business and all that. Same with THG.
  11. I only remember what was said here that it blew up on streaming and Affleck I think even talked about it in an interview. but that was 2 years ago so maybe my memory is foggy.
  12. ABY has no direct competition. The only other romance movie THG is winding down its run. OTOH, TCP is competing with another musical and it's a remake which turns off people who love the original or simply don't want to see the same story twice even with different cast and genre (drama vs musical). Why WB thought that releasing 2 such movies at the same time was a good idea iss beyond me casue even if you calculate different demos they do cross over to a large degree being the same genre. And since Wionka is much more holiday friendly, it siphoned the muscal demand.
  13. Yeun may have scheduling conflict and genuinely want to work with Marvel but very likely not on this project. After AM3 bomb and The Marvels super bomb, I can imagine that Hollywood agents have become more informed on what is expected to hit (Deadpool 3) or miss (Thunderbolts, Cap 4, movies with untested characters from TV) and they are likely looking for pretext not to put their clients in projected flops.
  14. Anyone But You is a legs phenomenon. It really did everything right. Cast the stars of the moment (Euphoria, TGM). Released it as a date counter programming to family movies, serious dramas and action. Leggy holiday season. It's actually good and you root for the leads. Small budget so it's going to be very profitable. I guess they didn't have to spend much on marketing either cause Deux Moi and TMZ did 80% of it. Well done!
  15. Yeah, Wonka run is underappreciated around here for some reason.
  16. No surprise with that cast of characters. Marvel ran out of superstars to team up (for every NWH we get Thor and...Jane...and Valkyrie and... CM and TV nobodies, etc) and of Z listers with A list potential (GOTG). Now it's just Z list being Z list.
  17. I don't know why you got a Winona reaction but this is true. Lots of actors passed on F4 because of the script. Yeun bolting out of Thunderbolts for the same reason would make perfect sense. His career is soaring and doesn't need this sinking ship. Since eevryone and their mother is in superhero genre whether MCU, DCEU, SCU, The Boys and knock-offs, etc these movies and shows are no more career boosters due to sheer number of actors with identical resumes. You actually stand out if you aren't associated with any of it.
  18. Gladiator 2 won't flop. Ladies and OS will save it if it comes to that but I don't think it'll need saving. I think it'll do better than Furiosa.
  19. Ah yes no red carpet or something.
