  1. Zombies will never be as popular romantic fodder as vampires. vampires are all about sexy men and glam lifestyle. Rotting corpse is neither even if played but a hot actor.
  2. I really love WB's confiedence. They are showing a piece of something that most studios would keep a secret. Looks phenomenal. That lighting is fabulous. Another Cinematography win coming. Nolan/Vilelneuve bromance is life giving.
  3. The Beekeper hold! - 28% only. 🐝 Aquaman is passing 120M this weekend No number for ABY yet on The Numbers but fongers crossed for amazing hold again. Poor Things already slashing number of theaters WTF didn it it increase the number just last week?
  4. lel they can afford flops. their revenue isn't movies and streaming, that's just vanity like Bezos. But billions come from elsewhere.
  5. Yeha absolute nonsense. Would've made over 60M.
  6. All pieces are falling in place for DUNC II breakout. Tired of shit and Oscar nominees, audience will welcome the first spectacle of the year. It will be an event.
  7. I think this is one of those years where there shouldn't be surprises. There's so much goodwill for the current slate of predicted winners that upsets would just feel out of place.
  8. WB is going to have a good year with 2's (DUNC, Beetlejuice, Joker)
  9. I've read somewhere, here or elsewhere, about the accidental split. Something gets the most of #2 votes while the frontrunner with the most #1 votes doesn't get enough of them to win the first round so the one with enough #2 votes jumps over it. It's complicated system that should be abolished but AMPAS wants agreeable winners rather than divisive ones so here we are. Because there's no complete overlap with AMPAS. GG and CC aren't even AMPAS. BAFTA overlaps to a degree but now it's getting more difficult cause jury gets to nominate 2 or 3 not the whole BAFTA body. So that's 12 people's choice. DGA and Director's Branch don't overlap either. It's even worse with SAG-AFTRA where AFTRA is no part of Actors Branch. That said, every case is different. In Lee case, you can see that GG, BAFTA and DGA enbraced foreign talent but AMPAS went American. Affleck snub for Argo seems to be some kind of split vote with Bigelow (2 political thrillers) that robbed both of a nomination. It's very weird that directors who directed political thrillers got snubbed. Lee won cause nobody really liked Lincoln save DDL performance. Mendes is an interestign case. Parasite win is explicable cause 1917 being one man show was never going to appeal to Acting Branch who are the largest voting block within AMPAS. But Bong upset was out of the left field though Parasite surge overall must have worked its magic.
  10. That's not possible cause they aren't a hive mind. But I don't think there will be Director/Picture split this year. There's nothing about Oppenheimer that I can think of that would make majority of voters look for an alternative.
  11. That sounds right. I think Adapted is the only one that could go a different way. Lot at Supporting winners being DJR and RDJ.
  12. Holdovers isn't the frontrunner in the Original Script. Anatomy of the Fall is right there too. I agree about supporting role and screenplay combo being the most successful in getting Picture wins but Anatomy could take the script. It overperformed with nominations so they could award it somewhere and Script looks the most likely. Stone is winning Actress, Nolan Director, so if they want to award Anatomy somewhere that's the place. Holdovers could take 2 acting Oscars instead of one.
  13. Considering how much DUNC made during the pandemic plus hybrid reelase dom I'd say it isn't just die hard fans who showed up. But yes, caution doesn't hurt.
  14. Agreed though it shows that interest is at least on the same level not less.
  15. Why people think that Holdovers will win Picture or that there will be a split between Nolan and any other movie? Are there signs that voters don't like Oppenheimer? I mean, The Holdovers couldn't even get SAG Ensemble. So far, most upsets came from movies that got SAG Ensemble noms (CODA, Parasite) vs movies that didn't (TPOTD, 1917) or neither got SAG Ensemble (Green Book vs ROMA). Oppenheimer got Ensemble nom.
  16. Paris Premeiere on Feb 12. London premiere on Feb 15. From @Grand Cine in Dom thread: This will blow past the first one big time at least in France. Pandemic BO was $25.4M
  17. Beekeeper of all movies being so leggy is a great surprise. Ngl, winter season is full of great surprises. HG, ABY, Beekeeper.
  18. So what are DECU's salveagable properties from before Gunn era? The Batman with R-Batz. Joker with Phoenix and Gaga. Anything else? I know that his SS got raves but it bombed thanks to the shitiness of the first movie and no star like Will Smith. I'll be sad to see Momoa go cause he saved Aquaman 2's face. People love the guy. Superman:Legacy and Supergirtl are shaping up really well so far.
  19. I appreciate that WB takes care of their talent. HOTD cast 2 standouts from cancelled HBO Max Raised By Wolves for example and they rotate others a lot (Sweeney being on Euphoria and The White Lotus, for example)
  20. I think that oversaturation is a part of why Superman franchise can't take off. When you have the character on TV that makes seeing him in movies kinda obsolete. I love Milly and hope for the best but Supergirl has been on TV forever so the character isn't a novelty.
