  1. as much as I'd like to see it I don't think Knives Out will beat out Jojo Rabbit or OUATIH at the Comedy globes. the latter is even less likely to be beaten as the globes usually like to go with the more popular choice which is probably Tarantino.
  2. holy shit Rian Johnson is a genius, I caught some of the foreshadowings early on and was still blown away by the end. my 3rd favorite film of the year (after Parasite & Endgame). also this should win some screenplay awards
  3. yeah I also think Weathering With You is gonna miss the nomination, its buzz is non-existent and being mostly inferior to Your Name and having a really late release date probably doesn't help. I agree with the top 4 choices but I'd replace Missing Link with How To Train Your Dragon 3. the first 2 were both nominated with the 2nd one winning the globe. though having 3 sequel movies out of the 5 nominations will probably not look very great so we'll see.
  4. even though they don't count Netflix as one of the major studios, that's not their only rule.
  5. really enjoyed Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers, hope she makes it out past the globes and lands an Oscar supp. nomination.
  6. except the Green Lantern show isn't on the CW? they announced it for HBO Max. we can't judge how good it could be yet until they announce the writers/directors (and even then that's not much to go by) but at least it'll look pretty with how much they're spending.
  7. umm I don't like not seeing Saoirse Ronan in the actress noms 🙄
  8. as long as The Irishman doesn't win BP, all of these choices are good to excellent.
  9. oh I was more talking about their official release being late (publically in theaters, when everybody gets to see it). Little Women had its premiere on Oct 24th btw.
  10. it's not an easy gimmick to pull off either, especially for a movie like this. having to do an invisible cut every 10 or so minutes during all that messy mud and action scenes was probably hell for the crew.
  11. is it usual to have 2 or even 3 heavy Oscar contenders to debut in late December? between 1917, Little Women and Bombshell I'm not sure if the Academy will have enough space for all of them to get a best picture nom especially with such an early Oscar date that might not give them enough time to build buzz.
  12. that's quite unexpected, thought this would easily clear an A. other than missing a let it go type song I thought the sequel was on par if not better than the original which got an A+ in 2013. should still have 3.5x+ legs I reckon
  13. 17x internal multi seems a bit difficult but 150M+ would be still be a decent opening (even if it's far away from Incredibles II). hoping for more though.
  14. Fandango pre-sales for animated family films would be really goofy if Frozen 2 couldn't match Toy Story 4's Thursday previews (which was 12M iirc), on the other hand TS4 also beat Incredibles II in first 24 hours pre-sales on Fandango but wasn't anywhere close in the actual weekend.
  15. first of all does everything have to be so straight-forward? and second he does explain his character motivations (at least in BvS), the motivations weren't very convincing in BvS but he did explain them.
