  1. BOP is definitely lowballing TLM's box office. OW; $70-$90 million Dom: $235-$305 million WAY too low. Maybe it won't hit $400 million domestic, but it should be at least over $350 million.
  2. Looked pretty good. It does have the potential to be another Frozen/Moana/Encanto. Box office, not sure in this current climate. But should be an absolute smash with little girls and their moms.
  3. Shouldn't either Aladdin or BatB be logical comparisons for Little Mermaid? Or maybe even Jungle Book?
  4. Dang BOP really dropped the projections for GOTG3. Possibly under Thor 4? We shall see, but dang!
  5. Strange, but, after seeing the Holiday special, I don't feel the need to see any more GOTG movies, especially if it is going to be a sad send off.
  6. It's not just akin to recasting Luke in the 90's. It's akin to recasting Luke, Leia, Han, etc. for a remake of the same 3 movies that were released from 1977-1983 and calling it a exciting, brand new Star Wars project (instead of making the prequels). I'm a million times more excited for the new Star Wars material coming out and have zero interest whatsoever in this HP series. I am a huge HP fan and we're even going to Universal this summer with an HP package. But this series does nothing for us. And if it is being done to slap Daniel, Emma, and Rupert in the face, it is even less appealing.
  7. So, based off of SMB's success, Zelda movie will be animated. Say goodbye to a Zelda live-action movie?
  8. Dang! Are we looking at potentially $600 million domestic for SMB?
  9. The only thing that would make this all worth it is if they throw in a LOT of Hogwarts backstory and intersplice it with Marauders, Order of the Phoenix, Voldy and Snape, Snape and Lilly, Dumblestories, Voldystories, etc. Make the super extended edition versions like LOTR. And include the darn scene where Wormtail chokes himself!!!
  10. What do you know about "everything outside the main books" besides FB? The fact that there is magic outside of Hogwarts is pretty expansive enough with good writers. But it seems to be the same ol' same ol'. People gripe about Disney doing live-action remakes of animated classics but are fine with a complete re-do of another studio's franchise.
  11. What also seems interesting is that SW is taking an approach of expansion by having movies set in the Mando-verse, after Episode 9, and 25,000 years before ANH with Jedi beginnings. They are also exploring the High Republic with Acolyte and a whole new concept with Skeleton Crew (not sure of the time period of that one). All the while, they are going to new worlds. Meanwhile, Max is taking an equally as vast universe as the wizarding world and choosing to re-do what was already done. Imagine the reaction if Disney did that with SW.
  12. I agree. It feels like they want to make sequels with the same actors as the book adaptations, but since they can't use the OG3, they are starting from scratch. That and it feels like a super long director's cut of the movies with every painstaking book detail (and probably a lot of exposition and backstory as well).
  13. To a LOT of people they are. To say they are not is just one opinion. This isn't Golden Compass we are talking about. Regardless though, this will throw HBO and WB into the political cultural war and it almost seems like that is part of their purpose.
  14. A LOT of backstory and flashbacks (which could make up a vast part of every season). Thing is, everyone knows all the secrets and the whole world has read these books just about. So, I'm not sure how they will make it that suspenseful. I am not apologetic about my dislike for this idea. I love the HP world but I think this is a bad bad idea.
  15. I meant specifically for Harry Potter. At most, people wanted a few tidbits that were left out to have been included. Not close to being enough to make a whole new rendition.
  16. Creative people can create creative stories. Isn't that the point of storytelling? Nothing has a story until someone writes it. Re-doing the books may be a bad look overall for HBO/WB. It really does seem like an attempt to muzzle Emma, Daniel, and Rupert and, if it comes across as such, makes Max/WB look like they're playing sides. That can be.......complicated. Nobody ever said " I wish they would make movies or tv shows that were more accurate to the books". Hell, make a sequel series or a Voldemort/Dumbledore/Snape/Order of the Phoenix prequel series for crying out loud!
  17. Well maybe "based on the books" is a loose phrase and it won't be a verbatim re-make?
  18. They didn't do the same thing with SW though. They didn't completely remake the same thing. They did prequels and sequels and midquels (Rogue One). Now, I can see them branching off and showing other characters during the same period. Still not as expansive. It would be cool if they made a movie version of Hogwarts Legacy. They seem to be SO freaked out about the failure of the FB series that they are scared stiff of going into the expanded universe.
  19. This feels like a slap in the face and an F-U to Daniel, Emma, and Rupert. There are 10 other schools of wizardry around the world. 8 of them have been named with specific locations. One of them (Ilvermorny) has a whole story around it. Why not expand the universe and tell some stories around them? Something smells VERY fishy and odd about all of this. This is like re-making Star Wars with a whole new cast in the early 90's or re-making Wizard of Oz in 1950. Potter is an expansive universe that can stretch across cultural lines. If they were to explore other stories in the wizarding universe, we'd be compelled to get HBO max. But with this, I see no reason.
  20. I don't understand this at all. Have a show based on another timeframe (like Hogwarts Legacy), or another part of the world (maybe one of the schools they showed in Goblet of Fire or the school on Mount Greylock). They could even show how the threat of Voldemort affect other wizarding schools. Or if they had to show the same location in the same time period, have it from the perspective of other characters outside the main stars-maybe even focus on houses like Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. All of those would be original but within the same universe. Have a complete reboot? I'm not seeing that. The movies and the characters as portrayed by the actors and actresses were WAY to beloved and still, to this day, extremely popular to reboot that. Like Star Wars, the Wizarding World offers too many opportunities and worlds to just reboot what they've already done.
  21. Cool looking trailer and fun looking movie, but it does still seem to come across as series. And......Susan Sarandon as the villain? She chose this genre?
